INSTALLATION NOTES
Before using the network video recorder, take note of the following:
Keep liquids away from the video recorder.
Place the video recorder in a well-ventilated area.
Make sure that the humidity and temperature values in the room are within the limits
allowed by the video recorder.
Humidity and an accumulation of dust on the video recorder's control board may cause a
short circuit. Dust the control board, connector, casing and fan regularly with a suitable
brush.
Replacing the battery incorrectly may lead to a risk of explosion. The battery should never
be replaced by users and the replacement battery must be the same or of an equivalent
type.
The appliances covered in this manual are MS-N1000 and MS-N7000 video
recorders.

LOCAL OPERATIONS
Setup wizard
By default, the setup wizard starts immediately after turning on the video recorder. The setup
wizard helps you set certain essential values, guaranteeing correct device operation. You can
choose whether to enable the wizard when the device starts up.
For setup, proceed as follows:

Step 2. Setting the data and time
Select the time zone and the date format or enter the date and time manually.
Step 1. Enter your user name and password (default user name 'admin', password
'123456').
If you want to change the admin password, enter the new password.
Step 3. Network settings
Enter the IP address, subnet mask, gateway and preferred DNS server.

Step 4. Access
Enter your user name and password.
Video playback.
Playback can be based on the time recorded. Playback of recorded files in the specified time
period. Support of synchronous playback of various channels.

Select the channel and playback layout. Click on the date highlighted in red when there
are recorded files in the selected channels (the recording type and data will be displayed
as shown below) and click to start playback.
N.B.
1. The day highlighted in red contains recording files. Select this date to start playback.
2. You can select up to 16 channels to be played synchronously.
Description of the video playback toolbar
The toolbar can display multi-event recordings and show the type of event that occurred in a
given recording period. The symbolic meaning of each colour is explained below:
Blue—Time slot Green --- Movement
Red --- Alarm Black --- Emergency
In the bar shown above, for example, it is clear that event occurred in the defined recording
period related to movement and the time slot.

The recorded files can be stored on various devices such as USB flash drives, USB HDDs,
USB writers, CD/DVD and eSATA writers etc.

Step 2. Select the recorded files for backup
Select the channel and the date to backup, the start time on the timeline and click . The
icon changes to to signify the start of the cut.
Select the end time on the timeline and click . The icon changes to to signify the
end of the cut.
Step 3. Click to access the backup interface. Select the backup media and
click [Backup].
Step 4. The context window invites you to wait: Please wait…
Step 5. Once you have exported all the backup files, the message 'Backup Success'
appears.

Camera settings
Before setup, make sure the IP device is connected to the same network as the video
recorder and that the video recorder network settings are correct.
Camera management
Step 1. Access the camera management interface following the path Main menu Camera
Camera Management.
Step 2. Add the IP channel
Method 1. Add the IP channel in the camera search interface
1. Access the camera search interface following the path Main menu Camera Camera
to Search.
2. Click [Search] to quickly search for IP devices that support ONVIF on the same network
segment as the video recorder.

3. Double-click on the channel, enter your password and click [Add].
Or select a group of IP cameras with the same password.

Method 2. Add the IP channel in the camera management interface
1. Access the camera management menu following the path Main menu Camera
Camera Management.
2. Access the 'IP Channel' attributes page and select an inactive channel, filling in all the
data. Then click [Add].
There are three ways to add a camera:
1. ONVIF: if you select this protocol, you can add any ONVIF-compatible IP camera. The
formats in detail are shown in figure ;
2. RTSP: you can add any IP camera that uses the RTSP protocol for managing video
streams.
You must select 554 for the port and enter the "resource path" for the camera. For the
Milesight device, for example, the main stream of the resource path is "/main" and the
secondary stream is "/sub".
Details regarding adding formats are shown in figure ;
3. MILESIGHT: if the IP camera is a Milesight device, you can select this protocol to add
the cameras. The formats in detail are shown in figure .

Step 3. Check the connection status
After adding the IP channels, click [Refresh]; the [state] will be displayed as [connected].
Otherwise, you need to check whether the network is connected or if the user name and
password are correct.
Step 4. Configure the IP channel
1. After you have added the channel, click or double-click the channel to re-enter the
information regarding the channel, address and password etc.
N.B.
By default, the user name and password are the default ones, the management port is 80
and the transport protocol is UDP.
1. Select the attributes page [Parameters] to regain access to the parameters of this channel.
Click [Save] to save the configuration.

2. This IP channel can be deleted by clicking but you can also select several devices and
then click to delete them.
Camera search
Here you can search and add IP cameras

Step 2. Click [search] to quickly search the IP devices that support ONVIF.
N.B.
The IP devices that appear on the list are those that support the ONVIF protocol on the same
network segment as the video recorder.
Step 3. Add the IP camera
Double-click on the channel, enter your password and click [Add].

Or select a group of IP cameras with the same password. Click [OK] to finish adding the
group.
Recording settings
Preparing the configuration
Step 1. Make sure the VCR has installed and initialised the HDD.
Access the disk management interface following the path System Settings Disk
Management.

Step 2. Check that the HDD has enough space.
Access the disk management interface following the path System Settings Disk
Management. Set [Recycle Mode] to ON in the event of insucient HDD capacity.
Recording mode
Step 1. Access the recording mode menu following the path Main menu Record
Record Mode.
There are three recording modes: No Recording/Always Record/Record by Schedule. You can
select whichever one you want for each channel.
[No Record]: if you choose this column, the video recorder will not record; [Always Record]:
the recorder will always record the channel you choose;
[Record By Schedule]: if you want the video recorder to record by schedule, select this
