Fit the brackets onto the hard disk as
shown in the diagram.
Slide back the top panel of the device
and lift it o.
Using a Philips screwdriver, remove
the screws from the rear panel.

Disconnect the electric power supply while fitting the hard disks

Check that all the screws are properly tightened, connect the power cable and
the data cable to each HDD. Close the top panel up again.
Secure the hard disks in the relevant
housings on the base of the device.

The bay for the hard disks can be re-
moved as shown in the diagram.
Insert the hard disks into the relevant
slots.
Slide back the top panel of the device
and lift it o.

Check that the 16 screws in the HDD
bracket are securely tightened.
Fasten the bracket to the device with
the central screw.
Connect the power cable and the data
cable to each hard disk and close the
top panel up again.
Replace the bay in its housing.

Screw four screws into the relevant
housings on each hard disk, taking
care to let the head of the screws pro-
trude from the holes by about 4 mm.
Remove the central screw from the
hard disks bay bracket.
The bay can be opened as shown in
the diagram.

Check that the screws in the HDD
bracket are securely tightened.
Fasten the bracket to the device with
the central screw.
Connect the power cable and the data
cable to each hard disk and close the
top panel up again.
Insert all the hard disks into the relevant slots,
and replace the bay in its housing.
Put the hard disks onto the bracket, inserting
the protruding screw heads into the relevant
housings; slide the hard disk in as shown in the
diagram and then tighten the screws.

In the search window enter the serial number (SN) or Mac address to search for the NVR you want;
This area displays a list of all the NVRs connected; select the NVR you want from the list and press
button to change its parameters (e.g. IP address, port, netmask, gateway and DNS). Click but-
ton again to save the settings (the NVR's default IP address is 192.168.5.200 )
The Browser button gives direct access to the NVR management web page (the NVR's default user
name and password are, respectively, “admin” and “ms1234”).
Note: for further information on Smart Tools, refer to the user manual.
ACCESSING THE NVR RECORDER
Searching for the NVR recorder using Smart Tools
If you don't know the NVR recorder's IP address, you can use the Smart Tools application to automati-
cally detect Milesight NVRs connected to a LAN.
To find the IP address of an NVR, do the following:

Notes:
1. If the HTTP port is not 80 (default value), the port number must be entered after the IP address
(for example: http://192.168.8.156:90).
2. If it is the first time the NVR is being accessed via web, the plugin must be installed; before
carrying out installation, close the browser.
Accessing NVR via WEB
Login
If the NVR is connected to the network, it is possible to access it via WEB using the IP address.
1. Open Firefox or another browser;
2. In the browser address bar, enter the IP address of the device (for example http://192.168.8.156);
3. Choose the interface language before keying in the user name and password (the NVR's default
user name and password are, respectively, “admin” and “ms1234”).
4. Press the Login button to access the Live View page.

Live view (Window of live images)
Once access is made to the NVR, to add video cameras to the view, press icon and access the
video camera setup section by pressing button , then, in the relevant spaces, enter the information
needed by the device to reach the video cameras.
Press button to add the video camera to the list.

Access credentials
Enter user name and password (pre-
set user name ‘admin’, password
‘ms1234’).
If you want to change the admin pass-
word, enter the new password.
Guided setup procedure
By default the guided setup procedure starts as soon as the video recorder is switched on. The guided
setup procedure helps to set some values essential for ensuring the correct operation of the device.
You can choose whether or not to enable the guided procedure when the device starts up.
Note: The data entered during the guided setup (Wizard) can be changed at any time.
For setup, proceed as follows:
After adding the video cameras, click on button to display the preview (the network video cam-
era's default user name and password are, respectively, “admin” and “ms1234”).

Adding video cameras
The device lists all the connected vid-
eo cameras detected.
Select the video cameras you want
and add them to the device.
By pressing icon you can edit the
IP address of the video camera you
want so as to make it compatible with
that of the NVR.
Network settings.
Enter IP Address, Subnet Mask, Gate-
way and Preferred DNS Server.
Setting date and time.
Select the time zone and the date for-
mat or enter date and time manually.

GENERAL SETTINGS OF DEVICE
Live view (live images)
Once the NVR access credentials have been entered, the screen will show the images shot by the
video cameras connected.
When you right-click with the mouse anywhere on the screen, a contextual menu appears via which
you can access the settings menu (see screenshot).
Access (Login)
Enter user name and password (by default "admin" and
"ms1234").

Notes:
1. The day highlighted in red contains recorded files; select this date to start the playback.
2. You can select up to 16 channels to play back simultaneously.
Select the playback layout and channel. Click on the data highlighted in red when there are re-
corded files on the selected channels (recording type and information will be displayed as shown
below) and click on to start playback.

5. Select icon to access the backup interface
6. Select the support on which you want to carry
out the backup and click on [Backup].
Backing up video files
Recorded files can be saved on various devices such as, for example, USB and HDD USB memory
sticks, USB writers, CD/DVD writers, eSATA disks, etc.
From the video playback interface, select the channel and the date of the recording which you want
to make a backup of
1. On the timeline, go to the start time of the video section which you want to back up.
2. Click on icon ; the icon changes its appearance to to show the start of the cut.
3. Go to the end time of the video section which you want to back up.
4. Click on icon ; the icon changes its appearance to to show the end of the cut.

The tool bar can display multi-event recordings; the colour of the bands indicates the type of event
that occurred in a specified recording period:
Blue --- Time slot Green --- Motion
Red --- Alarm Black --- Emergency
In the bar shown above, for example, it is evident that in the recording period specified there were
events linked to motion and to the time slot.

Adding an IP video camera using the search interface
1. Select the tab .

Check that the IP video cameras belong to the same network as the video recorder and that the video
recorder's network settings are correct.

3. Double-click on the device you want to add, enter the password and press the button . Alter-
natively you can select more IP video cameras that share the same password.

MSSP protocol
If the IP video camera is a Milesight
device this protocol can be selected to
add video cameras. (see screenshot).
RTSP protocol
Lets you add any IP video camera that
uses the RTSP protocol to manage
video flows.
Port 554 must be selected and the
"resource path" for the video camera
entered.
For example, for the Milesight device,
the main flow of the resource path is
"/main" and the secondary flow is "/
sub" (see screenshot).
ONVIF protocol
Lets you add any compatible ONVIF IP
video camera. Details of the formats
are shown in the screenshot
Select an inactive channel, fill in all the required fields and click on the [Add] button.
