Installation & Operating Instructions

MK K5786 is a 1-gang wall transmitter that can be used in conjunction with the K5776 mounting frame to control an indefinite number of receivers wirelessly. It operates at the European harmonised frequency of 868.3MHz and has a transmission power of 10mW. The transmitter is suitable for use in areas where no repairs are required, such as renovations, retrofitting of electrical systems or offices with mobile walls. It can be mounted using screw fixing or adhesive pads and has a range of over 30m in good conditions.

Installation & Operating Instructions
The wall transmitters are part of the Echo radio system. The radio
transmission takes place at the European harmonised frequency of
868.3MHz. It is particularly suitable for areas where no repairs are
required, such as renovations, retrofitting of electrical systems or offices
with mobile walls. By pressing a button, consumers can be switched
wirelessly through receivers.
The transmitters must be assigned to the receivers. Therefore, refer to
the receivers operating instructions. Every wall transmitter can control
an indefinite number of receivers.
SAFETY:
The device should be installed by a competent person or a
qualified electrician in accordance with these instructions and
the appropriate current national wiring regulations.
SPECIFICATION:
General Data
Transmit frequency 868.3MHz
RD Transmission Power 10mW
Modulation type ASK – Amplitude Shift Keying
Cycles of Operation >50,000
Ambient temperature -25 to +65°C
Relative humidity 0 – 95%
Identification CE
RF RANGE:
The strength of the radio signal between the transmitter and switching
receiver weakens as distance increases. The range can be further
reduced by different materials or interference sources in the propagation
direction of the radio waves. The range can be increased by the use of
Echo Repeaters (radio amplifiers).
Material Reduction
Wood, plaster, non-coated glass 0 - 10%
Masonry, wood/plaster walls 5 - 35%
Reinforced concrete 10 - 90%
Range Conditions
> 30 m
Under good conditions (large, clear space without
obstructions).
> 20 m
Through up to 5 plaster/drywall board walls or 2
brick/porous concrete walls (furniture and persons in
the room):
For transmitter and receiver with good aerial
positioning/layout.
> 10 m
Through up to 5 plaster/drywall board walls or 2
brick/porous concrete walls (furniture and persons in
the room):
For receivers installed in walls or corners of rooms,
receivers with internal aerial or narrow corridors.
Through 1-2
ceilings / walls
Depending on ceiling/wall armouring and type of
aerial in the receiver.
STRUCTURE AND DESCRIPTION
The transmitters are available in 1 and 2 channel versions and are used
in conjunction with the K5776 and K5779 mounting frames which are
available separately.
Wall Transmitters
1 channel transmitter 2 channel transmitter
Installation of Glass Frames:
- The installation surface must be level.
- If necessary, level off the surface under each individual base element.
- Ensure that the base elements are exactly aligned.
- Tighten the screws on the coverings with the utmost care. There
should not be any distortion on the frame, as this can lead to the glass
cracking or shattering.
- When removing rocker switches, they should be lifted off carefully. Do
not use the screwdriver to create a lever effect on the glass frame.
MOUNTING AND COMMISSIONING:
Do not use in the open (only within closed rooms).
Before the installation on rough surfaces, a smooth surface has to be
created. Unevenness may lead to transmitter’s malfunctions.
When installing, mind the required position of installation shown on
the back of the transmitter (O = top, I = bottom) (1).
Do NEVER install the transmitter within a metal body or in the
immediate vicinity of big metal objects. An installation near or on the
ground is not recommendable.
Mounting - Screw fixing:
• Retaining plates (4) shall be used as a template to mark the drill
holes.
Drill dowel holes of 5 mm.
Fix the retaining plate with included screws. The latches of the
retaining plate have to be positioned for their installation as shown
under point 4.
Engage wall transmitter (2) and frame (3) on the retaining plate.
Mounting - Adhesive Pad:
• Engage wall transmitter (2) and frame (3) on the retaining plate (4).
• Use adhesive strips for the installation on flat, smooth surfaces (such
as painted walls, tiles, furniture, wood, etc.). Glue the adhesive strip
to both the upper and lower recess on the indentation of the retaining
plate.
• Use adhesive film for the installation on glass. Glue the adhesive
film to the inverse side of the retaining plate.
Glue the assembled wall transmitter to the desired place.
Commissioning:
Installation of the receiver.
Assign wall transmitter to receiver.
TROUBLESHOOTING:
New system or existing system
Check power supply (electrician only).
• Check connected electrical loads.
Check the system’s surroundings for changes that could cause interference
(e.g. metal cabinets, furniture or walls which have been moved).
If the transmitter/receiver operates at a reduced distance, the radio signal was
encountering interference or it was operating outside the transmission range.
Use the receiver at a better location.
Delete all transmitters and reprogram the receiver.
Radio signal range limitations
Use of the receiver in the vicinity of metal objects or materials with metal
components. Maintain a distance of at least 10cm
• Moist materials.
Devices which emit high-frequency signals (e.g. audio and video systems,
computers, electronic ballasts in light fixtures). Maintain a distance of at least
0.5m
OTHER INFORMATION:
Cleaning and Disposal:
The product may be cleaned with a dry soft lint free cloth. Do not use
water or any abrasive, solvent based or aerosol cleaners as this may
damage, discolour or affect the finish and safety of the product.
For glass frames a suitable glass cleaner may be used but take care that
this does not degrade or affect the transmitter.
At the end of their useful life the packaging and product should
be disposed of via a suitable recycling centre. Do not dispose
of with your normal household waste. Do not burn.
EU R&TTE Declaration:
Novar ED&S Ltd hereby declares that the K5786 and K5789 Wall
transmitters are in compliance with the essential requirements and other
relevant provisions of the European Radio and
Telecommunications Terminal Equipment (R&TTE) directive,
1999/5/EC.
