Note that the temperature sensors are marked with coloured labels: red for high temperature and blue for low
temperature.
The meter should be located according to instructions given on the front label.
For heat/cool or cool meters, the meter is mounted in the forward pipe (high temp.). The low temp. (blue) sensor
is always free and should be mounted in the return pipe. For DN15 and DN20 versions the high temp. (red) sensor
is mounted in the sensor body. For DN25 and DN40 versions the high temp (red) sensor is free and should be
mounted in the forward pipe.

This symbol indicates that the HMM/HC models are fully encapsulated for reliable protection against
condensation on the integrator board.
Protection class: IP68.
Either mount temperature sensor in ball valve or adapter

1. For ball valve only, close the ball valve and unscrew the plug screw from the ball valve.
2. For ball valve or adaptor place an O-ring on the mounting pin (A). The second O-ring is spare.
3. Insert the O-ring into the hole of the ball valve or adapter with the mounting pin using turning movements
(B).
4. Position the O-ring in its nal position using the other end of the mounting pin (C).
5. Place the two halves of the plastic screw around the temperature sensor. Press the two halves together
so that the two studs on one half of the plastic screw t into the holes on the other half (D).
6. Insert the temperature sensor with the plastic screw into the ball valve or adaptor and tighten the plastic
screw by hand.
7. Check for leaks.
1. Mount pocket in pipe.
2. Insert probe as far as bottom of pocket and tighten
screw.
3. Fill pocket with thermally conductive oil.
4. Seal pocket.
Fixing Kit
Note that the sensor xing kit (HMAC/SENSORFIXKIT) is not
required if mounting the sensor in a pocket. The xing kit is only
required if mounting in a ball valve or adapter.
One xing kit is provided with DN15/20 meters (only one is
needed for these as the other sensor is already tted in the body
of the unit).
Two xing kits will be required to be purchased separately for
DN25/40 meters if using ball valves or adapters.

The Trend RS232/M-Bus converters, TWP3, TWP20, have straight through RS232 connections as shown, but some converters
may require a RX/TX crossover connection. The Trend TWP converters may also be connected by a straight 9 Way D socket
to 9 Way D plug cable.
The meter connection is polarity independent. Use standard 2-wire telephone cable to wire the bus.
Note that the cabling for an M-Bus system requires no specied cable routing or network (e.g. star, series, etc.)

The EMIC/MBA can connect to a maximum of between 8 and 32 meters depending on its version.
The adjacent diagram shows the physical connections. The Supervisor, IQ3 controller, EINC, and EMIC are connected to the
Ethernet bus. The EMIC is connected to its meters using the M-BUS).
The HMM meter takes the measurements and these are read by the EMIC using M-BUS protocol. The EMIC stores this data
in memory and calculates further measurements. Trend system devices can then read the measurements from the EMIC using
Trend network communications.
The EMIC is a member of the internetwork, and its rmware simulates a Lan with each meter represented as a virtual outstation
(e.g. a virtual IQ Controller). A supervisor (e.g 963) can connect to the EMIC by way of a vCNC (virtual Comunications Node
Controller) in an EINC (or 3xtend/EINC L, or IQ3).
In the above diagram, the Supervisor connects to the EINC’s Lan using a supervisor mode vCNC. The INCs, Internetwork Node
Controllers (EINC’s, EMIC’s, and IQ3’s) construct an internetwork. The supervisor can communicate across the internetwork
to obtain the meter readings from a vOS (virtual outstation). A vOS can send Sensor High and Low alarms to the supervisor
either through the EINC’s vCNC in supervisor mode if the supervisor is permanently connected or through a EINC vCNC set
to alarm mode if the supervisor is not permanently connected.
The IQ3 controller is able to send Inter-Contoller Communications to the EMIC (e.g. to obtain meter readings). The IC Comms
cannot be attribute comms so are limited to simple Data To and Data From comms.
