1–2 CSX Color Server Installation Guide
Overview
This Installation Guide describes installation and setup procedures,
including installing print drivers. It also describes the CSX Color Server
utilities that help you manage your system.
Printing with the CSX Color Server
You can send and import any supported PDL file (for example, PostScript,
PDF, EPS, VPS, VIPP) to print on the CSX Color Server. You can print
from any open application on a PC, Macintosh or Unix client workstation.
You can import a PDL file from the local hard drives, CD-ROM drives, or
floppy drive connected to the CSX Color Server. You can also import files
to be printed over the network from remote clients/file servers.
Use one of the following methods to print with the CSX Color Server:
Print from a client workstation using any application (such as,
QuarkXpress, Adobe PhotoShop or Microsoft Word).
Print by downloading PostScript and CreoScitex VPS (Variable Print
Specification) files from a client workstation. On a PC, this can be done
using a downloading application such as PrintFile
©
. On the Macintosh, it
can be done by moving files using the drag-and-drop operation, or using
the Adobe Downloader application.
Print by importing PDL files to the CSX Color Server.
The CSX Color Server enables you to choose the predefined network printer
to which you want to print. This feature greatly increases efficiency, as all
the job settings of the network printer will automatically be applied to your
print jobs.
YNote: Windows 95, Windows 98 and Windows 2000, Windows NT operating
systems are supported.
Setting up Client Workstations 1–3
Setting Up Client Workstations on the CSX
Color Server
Default Network Printers on PC and Macintosh Clients
For Macintosh and PC networks, the CSX Color Server provides two default
network printers:
ProcessPrint
Files sent to this printer are processed and sent to the Xerox DocuColor
2060/2045 through the CSX Color Server.
PrintToStore
Files sent to this printer are automatically processed in Ready-To-Print
(RTP) format. Then they are stored in the CSX Color Server’s Storage
Folder until the print operator re-submits them for printing.
