1. System Requirements
The general system requirements to run the application include:
•Microsoft
® Windows® XP,1 Microsoft® Windows®7,1 Microsoft® Windows®8,1 Microsoft® Windows®8.1
Microsoft.NET Framework 4.0
Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package (x86)
One free RS232 Serial COM port
2. Connect PC to HarmonyAIR Surgical Lighting System M Series
1. Ensure HarmonyAIR Surgical Lighting System M Series is POWER OFF.
2. Install USB-RS232 adapter driver (755717-735) to PC.
3. Remove Touch Panel Control Unit (TPCU) bezel and four screws. See Figure 2.

4. Hang TPCU on rough-in box using one screw. See Figure 3.
5. On rear of Touch Panel Control Unit (TPCU), remove screw from upper left corner of guard plate.
6. Disconnect HMI communication cable (P13 connector) from J13 on master control board. See Figure 4.

7. Connect P13 connector to mating end of HMI programming cable (10068104) and connect other end to DB9
end of USB to RS232 adapter.
8. Connect USB to RS232 adapter to USB port on PC with HMI programming utility installed. See Figure 5.

3. Download BIN File to SLCD5+ Controller Board
1. Power ON HarmonyAIR Surgical Lighting System M Series.
2. After successful installation of HMI Programming Utility, double click HarmonyAIR Surgical Ltg Sys M Ser HMI
Prog Utility short cut on PC desktop. See Figure 6.
Application can also be launched by clicking Start > STERIS > HarmonyAIR Surgical Ltg Sys M Ser HMI Prog
Utility > HarmonyAIR Surgical Ltg Sys M Ser HMI Prog Utility.
3. The HMI Programming Utility is running as shown in Figure 7.

4. Select HMI BIN file by clicking Browse button. BIN can also be selected by navigating to File > Select File to
Download.
5. Status bar is updated to indicate utility is waiting for serial port selection. From serial port dropdown list, select
serial port associated to USB-RS232 adapter to communicate with controller board. See Figure 8.

6. Verify Start Download button is enabled. Status bar updates status of utility as shown in Figure 9.

7. Click Start Download button to load BIN file into controller board. Verify Start Download button is disabled
and Abort Download button is enabled. The utility attempts to establish communication with controller board.
Once communication is established, utility starts erasing the flash and updates status bar as shown in Figure 10.
Utility downloads BIN file at a new baud rate (460800) if file size is less than 4.5 MB.

8. Once flash memory is erased, utility starts writing BIN file to device and progress bar increments and percentage
download is displayed as shown in Figure 11.

9. When writing BIN file to device is completed, utility starts validating the file as shown in Figure 12.
10. Cyclic Redundancy Check (CRC) is populated when the download has completed as shown in Figure 13.

11. Power OFF HarmonyAIR Surgical Lighting System M Series.
12. Reconnect P13 to J13 on master control board.
13. Install guard plate screw.
14. Reinstall TPCU and bezel.
15. Power ON HarmonyAIR Surgical Lighting System M Series.
16. Confirm part number and revision are displayed on bottom right corner of start-up screen.
