Product Overview
The VIA EITX-3002 is a high performance single board computer (SBC) with
low power requirements based on the Embedded ITX (Em-ITX) form factor.
Its superb performance and low power requirements are made possible by its
usage of energy efficient VIA dual-core CPU (either VIA Nano
TM
X2 E or
Eden
TM
X2).
The EITX-3002 is designed for ultra-thin embedded applications and can
withstand temperatures ranging from -10°C to 65°C (x2 1.0 sku). The powerful
VIA dual-core Nano
TM
X2 E / Eden
TM
X2 processor and VIA VX900 Unified
Digital Medial IGP chipset are placed on the bottom side of the board,
enabling an efficient space-saving design that easily accommodates quiet and
passive cooling thermal solutions.
The EITX-3002 includes an onboard DC-to-DC converter that supports both
AT and ATX power modes. The power converter can support a wide range of
power input voltage from 7V to 36V DC and can be configured through an
onboard switch.
With generous support for multiple display options, the EITX-3002 is ideally
suited for high-end multimedia applications including POS, kiosks, ATM, HMI,
factory automation, POI, hotel automation and digital signage. The dual I/O
coastline design of the EITX-3002 provides ample space for multiple ports
such as one HDMI
®
port, one VGA port, two USB 3.0 ports (optional), two
Gigabit Ethernet ports, two USB 2.0 ports and two RS-232/422/485
configurable COM ports.

1.1. Key Features and Benefits
1.1.1. VIA Nano
X2 E / Eden
X2 Processor
The VIA Nano
TM
X2 E / Eden
TM
X2 is a dual-core processor and 64-bit
superscalar x86 processor based on a 40 nanometer process technology.
Packed into an ultra compact NanoBGA2 package (measuring 21mm x 21mm),
it delivers an energy-efficient yet powerful performance with cool and quiet
operation.
VIA Nano
TM
X2 E processors are line-up aimed at superb multimedia
performance and the VIA Eden
TM
X2 processors are designed for fanless
implementation. Both are providing an excellent performance on multitasking
applications that makes it perfect for embedded system applications such as
industrial PCs, test machines, measuring equipment, digital signage, medical
PCs, monitoring systems, gaming machines, in-vehicle entertainment, etc.
1.1.2. VIA VX900 Chipset
The VIA VX900 Unified Digital Media Chipset is designed to enable high
quality digital video streaming and DVD playback in a new generation of
fanless, small form factor PCs and IA devices. The VIA VX900 features VIA
Chrome9™ HD DX9 2D/3D video processor with MPEG-2, WMV9/VC1, and
H.264 video decoding acceleration, DDR3 1066 SDRAM controller, motion
compensation and dual display support to ensure a rich overall entertainment
experience.
1.1.3. Expansion Option
The VIA EITX-3002 further proves its versatility with its included Em-IO
expansion connector. The onboard Em-IO expansion connector gives the
system more flexibility to easily extend functionality. It can be stacked with
alternative Em-IO expansion modules (EMIO-3210 / EMIO-3450) to enable the
developers to upgrade and design a system with comprehensive I/O.

1.1.4. Wide Range of Power Source
The EITX-3002 comes with DC-in power connector. It supports a wide range
of 7V~36V DC power sources that offers flexibility of power input for various
automation environments.
1.1.5. USB, COM and Dual Gigabit LAN
The EITX-3002 mainboard provides USB ports for enabling access to USB
peripherals. It has two USB 3.0 ports (optional) also known as SuperSpeed
USB that has a maximum data transfer rate up to 5 Gbps and two USB 2.0
ports located on the I/O coastline. In additional, the mainboard has two USB
2.0 interface connectors through onboard pin headers to support up to four
USB 2.0.
The EITX-3002 is also equipped with Dual Gigabit Ethernet using 8P8C
receptacle connectors (commonly referred to as RJ45) and two serial (COM)
connectors that support configurable RS-232/422/485 serial communications.
And there are two additional serial (COM) interface connectors through
onboard pin headers that can support RS-232.
