4 Installation and commissioning
1. On unpacking, check the sensor for possible
mechanicaldamageofthepHsensitiveglass,the
ceramic reference junction/diaphragm, the shaft
andtheVarioPin(VP)orISMconnector.Reportany

same by gently swinging the sensor in a vertical
plane.

Please refer to the wiring and terminal diagram
accompanyingthecable.
5 Operation
5.1 Calibration of the sensor and pH transmitter
For 3201-UPW sensors, a 2-point calibration is
recommended. After removing the watering cap, the
sensorisdippedinsuccessionintotwodifferentbuffer
solutions with known pH reference values and the
transmitteriscalibratedtothesebuffervalues.
5.2 Temperature sensor
TheintegratedPt1000temperaturesensorisprimarily
intendedforautomatictemperaturecompensationofthe
pHsignalduringcalibrationandnormaloperation.For
accurateindicationorcontroloftheprocesstemperature,
a further sensor temperature calibration may be
performed.
6 Maintenance
1. Carefully rinse the sensor tip and reference
junction/diaphragm with deionized water after
removalfromtheprocess.Undernocircumstances
should measuring solution containing solids be
allowedtodryontheseparts!
2. When the sensor isnot in operation, storeit with
sensor tip and reference junction/diaphragm well
submergedinto3MKCl.
