ASSEMBLY GUIDE – STAGE 36
Rear driveshaft and
stub axle
Your new components will transfer the rotation of the engine to the right rear wheel
of your Huracán. These pieces are the same as those supplied with Stage 21. You will
also need the right rear lower arm and hub carrier from Stage 29, which you should
separate from the right rear suspension mount by pulling out the pin that holds the
arm and the mount together.
1 Prepare the right rear lower arm and hub carrier
from Stage 29, along with the parts from this stage.
2 No tools are needed for this stage, but you will
need an elastic band.

The parts supplied include the four tailpipes, plus the exhaust pipes that connect them to the silencer
you assembled in the previous stage. Like any exhaust system, that of your Huracán has gaskets that
seal the joints between its different sections.
1 As well as the parts you received with this
stage, you will need a Phillips screwdriver and a
cross wrench.
2
Place the four tailpipe gaskets onto the inner
ends of the tailpipes, as shown.

3 Push a long and a short
tailpipe into the holes in one set
of exhaust pipes. Look at the
photos for the following steps to
see how to position them.
4 Place a 3 x 15mm screw into
the hole in the exhaust pipes, then
use the cross wrench to tighten
an M3 nut onto the end of it.
Repeat Steps 3 and 4 for the
other tailpipes and exhaust pipes.
5 Place the two exhaust pipe
assemblies next to the silencer
from Stage 38, along with the two
exhaust pipe gaskets.
6 Remove the six screws
holding the two halves of the
silencer together, and place the
exhaust pipes into the gaps at the
side, as indicated.
7
Place the two halves of
the silencer back together and
secure with the screws. The gap
between the two halves of the
silencer should appear as in the
photo: if it is wider, it means the
gaskets aren’t positioned
properly. In that case, separate
the two halves, adjust the
gaskets and then combine the
two halves again.
8 This is how the exhaust
system of your Huracán should
look at the end of this stage.

1 You will also need the right rear suspension
mount from Stage 23 and the driveshaft and gear
assembly from Stage 33.
2 Before you begin, ready a pair of pliers, a small
screwdriver and a 2.5mm hex key.
108
3 Pass the two 3 x 12mm screws
through the holes of the brake
pads, positioning the pads with
their fibre-covered sides facing
inwards, as shown.
4 Insert the screws into the
holes in the rear suspension
mount, and begin tightening
them. Place the disc between the
pads, as shown, to help you judge
how much space to leave between
the pads (see Step 5).
5 When you tighten the screws,
ensure that a small space remains
between the heads of the screws
and the pads (arrowed).
6 Remove the E-rings located at
the ends of the driveshaft, and
then remove the rest of the parts
from it.
7 Pass the driveshaft through
the suspension mount and the
brake disc, as shown in the
picture. Next, place the brake disc
support over the shaft and into
the hole in the centre of the disc.
Then place the locking pin into
the recess in the support and
through the hole in the driveshaft
to hold it in place.
8 Reassemble the parts of the
driveshaft and gear assembly, and
lock them into place once more
with the E-rings.

firmly, so that it butts up against
the E-ring that you fitted in the
previous step.
4 Fit the second E-ring into the
groove at the end of the shaft, on
the other side of the piston.
5 Hold the shock absorber body
so that the end facing you is the
one with the smaller diameter
hole, and fit the red washer into it.
6 Fit the black spacer on top of
the washer, as shown.
7 Screw the lower end cap of the
shock absorber onto the body.
Screw it on as far as it will go, but
don’t apply too much force
because that could damage it.
8 Hold the shaft by the piston,
and lubricate the threaded end
with a few drops of shock
absorber oil.

9 Insert the threaded end of the
shaft into the large diameter hole
of the shock absorber body. Push
it through the washer until the
threaded part emerges from it, as
shown.
10 Using your strip of card or
cloth to protect the shaft, grip it
with pliers and screw the ball end
onto the threaded part of it, using
your fingertips to tighten it.
11 With a modelling clamp, hold
the body of the shock absorber
vertical. Fill the inside with the oil
supplied, up to within about 1mm
of the top.
12 Keep the shock absorber
vertical for a few minutes, to
allow any air bubbles to rise to
the surface. To encourage the
removal of any bubbles, carefully
move the shaft up and down
a few times.
13 To assemble the upper cap,
take the upper end cap, the shock
absorber top and the diaphragm.
Push the ring of the shock
absorber top through the upper
end cap.
14 Insert the rubber diaphragm
into the upper end cap, with its
concave face up against the base
of the shock absorber top and the
convex face remaining in view.

15 Now screw the upper end cap
onto the upper end of the shock
absorber body. Tighten it just
enough for the diaphragm to
make the necessary seal so that
there is no loss of oil.
16 Screw the adjusting nut
(arrowed) onto the body of the
shock absorber. Position the nut
as shown.
17 Fit the spring over the shock
absorber shaft and up against the
adjusting nut.
18 Fit the spring holder between
the end of the spring and the ball
end. The holder will keep the
spring in place.
19 Insert the ball-headed screw
into the hole in the shock
absorber top.
20 This photograph shows the
completed shock absorber. To
check its operation, hold its ends
between your forefinger and
thumb, then compress and
release it.
