3 Hole for Tunnel Door
3.1 Framing the Hole
The hole can be one big hole or split up into smaller
sections, one for each bay.
There should be a distance of at least 70 mm from the
tunnel door to the nearest obstacle (column).
Important!
The permissible variation of the dimension of the
hole is +/- 5 mm.
It is important that the surface is level on the inside of
the door, where the rubber sealing will seal the door
in closed position.
Important!
It is important that the vertical sides are
perpendicular to the horizontal sides.
Tip Use a square to make the sides perpendicular.
Tip Use a properly tightened wire as guide when
cutting the hole.
Frame the entire hole intended for the tunnel door.
The frame can be purchased through SKOV A/S.

Example: The door opening H is the dimension incl.

Mount the hinges on the frame by means of
self-tapping screws.

3.2 Marking up the Panel Door, cutting the Panels into Size
The panel itself must be 50 mm thick and 20
mm smaller than the hole for the tunnel door (a
gap of 10 mm all way round).
If possible, use a standard panel, so the height
should not be adjusted and make the frame for
the hole to match the door height plus 20 mm.
The door panel is not supplied by SKOV A/S.
3.3 Framing the Panels
Cut the SKOV alloy door flange, so the corners have
an angle of 45°.
Rubber moulding must be mounted in the groove of
the alloy flange.
Make sure that the SKOV alloy frame is pressed
tightly to the panel and drill holes for the blind rivets.
Make the first hole 60 mm from the corner. The
following holes are spaced 250 mm apart.
The blind rivets must be mounted on both sides of the
alloy frame.
Make sure that there is an overlap (displacement) of at
least 500 mm on the SKOV alloy frame, if the door is
made out of more than one panel.

3.4 Mounting the Hinges
Mount the first hinge 250 mm from the corner of the
door.
The following hinges are spaced max. 1500 mm apart.
Drill the four holes in the alloy frame2 and mount the
hinge by means of four bolts as shown.
3.5 Mounting the Door Brackets for the Racks
Mount the door brackets for the racks on the tunnel door (on the outside) and R&P pressure plate (on the
inside). Maximum distance from each end is 1000 mm. The maximum distance between them should not
exceed 3000 mm.
The brackets for the racks must be mounted, so the distance from the bottom of the door frame and to the
centre of the door brackets (holes) is A, see Table 1 and Table 2 respectively.

4 Dimensioning Table for different Wall Thicknesses
Two different solutions can be made with the rack & pinion system.
A. Door opening approx. 63° (standard solution), see chapter 4.1.
B. Door opening approx. 90°, see chapter 4.2.
4.1 Door Opening approx. 63° (standard solution)
At full open: V = 63°
Door opening: H = 800 1200 mm
Door weight: Max. 12.5 kg/m2
Mounting of door hinge at varying wall thicknesses:
Example: If the wall thickness T is 100 mm, A must be 760, see Table 1.

Rack & Pinion with DA 75
4.1.1 Calculation of maximum Rack & Pinion Door Length approx. 63°
Opening (Standard solution)
As maximum, the R&P DA 75 winch motor can operate a tunnel door if the length of the door does not exceed:
At wall thickness up to 100 mm:
Door length max (m)= 380 (kg)
Weight of tunnel door kg
m2 × Height of tunnel door (m)
At wall thickness up to 200 mm:
Door length max (m)= 325 (kg)
Weight of tunnel door kg
m2 × Height of tunnel door (m)
At wall thickness up to 300 mm:
Door length max (m)= 315 (kg)
Weight of tunnel door kg
m2 × Height of tunnel door (m)
Example
This means that at wall thickness up to 100 mm; if a tunnel door for example weighs 12 kg/m2 and is 1.2m
high, the max. length of the tunnel door is = 26.4m i.e. the length of the tunnel door must not exceed 26m.
Mounting Guide 15
Rack & Pinion with DA 75
4.2 Door Opening approx. 90°
Door opening: H from 500 to 1200 mm
Wall thickness: B from 70 to 400 mm
Door weight: Max. 12.5 kg/m2
From the tables below, see dimensions for mounting door bracket [A] and drive shaft [S]
*Distance pieces, if necessary, are not supplied by SKOV A/S.

**Max. lenght of tunnel door that the R&P DA 75 winch motor can operate.
Example
Door opening: 600 mm
Wall thickness from backside wall to drive shaft: 200 mm
Choose from Table 2 under B=200 mm A = 416 mm and S = 420 mm.
Max. length of door with a weight of 8.5 kg/m2 is 147/8,5 = 17m.
Force per hinge N = 11 × door weight [kg/m2] = 11 × 8.5 kg/m2 = 93.5 N.
Place the drive shaft so the distance from the bottom
of the door opening to the centre of the motor shaft =
420 mm (S).
18 Mounting Guide
Rack & Pinion with DA 75
Place the bracket so the distance from the bottom of
the door to the centre of the window connector = 416
mm (A).
5 Mounting the Tunnel Door
Place complete tunnel door in the frame on distance
pieces which are 8 mm thick.
Use supports to keep the door in closed position.
Mount the hinge on the PVC frame.
Drill four 5 mm holes before mounting the hinge by
four screws.
Finally remove the 8 mm distance pieces.

6 Mounting the Racks, Span Bars
Mount the bearing bracket on the span bar.
Mount the span bars on the frame using the supplied
self-tapping screws, if necessary drill new holes in the
span bar.
The distance from the centre of the bracket to the left
side of the span bar is 50 mm.
Mount the span bar vertically.
If the door hole is less than 1200 mm, the length of the
span bar can be reduced by cutting away a piece of it.
6.1 Mounting the Racks and Pinion Housing
Place the square bolt in the outside end of the rack to prevent the
door from falling in if problems with the limit switches or a broken
gearbox in the motor should occur.
20 Mounting Guide
Rack & Pinion with DA 75
Mount the bolt for the rack on the door bracket using the
manufacturer-supplied bolt and lock nut.
Mount all racks to the door brackets.
