New Features and Enhancements
Intellex 4.30 Software Update 3 Installation
Note:
Prior to installing Software Update 3 it is necessary to install the updated 32-bit Windows
XP Ethernet card drivers, version 12.2.2.0 for the Intellex IP R200 and Intellex IP PE860
machines. See theNetwork Interface Driver Updates” section below. These drivers can be
obtained from the American Dynamics Intellex 4.3 Software Update 3 website for
download.
Note:
It is not possible to upgrade directly to the 4.3 Software Update 3 from Intellex software versions
4.1, 4.17, 4.20 or older. You must first upgrade your Intellex software to version 4.3.
Installing 4.3 Software Update 3 on Intellex DVMS, LT or Ultra
Intellex 4.3 Software Update 3 will install directly on a DVMS, LT or Ultra which has the Intellex
4.3 release build or Software Update 2 installed.
Installing 4.3 Software Update 3 on Intellex IP
Intellex 4.3 Software Update 3 will not install directly onto an Intellex IP which only has the
release build of Intellex 4.3 installed (build number 4.30.33.146).
To install the 4.3 Software Update 3 on an Intellex IP, you must first install Software Update 2.
Visit
http://www.americandynamics.net/support/downloads_20091019_Intellex_v43_Upgrade.aspx
and follow the instructions to download and install the Software Update 2, build number
4.30.46.169.
VideoEdge IP Camera Support
A new camera handler was created for the Intellex IP to support the following AD VideoEdge
models for PAL and NTSC;

Table 1: VideoEdge Cameras Supported
These models are fixed cameras and therefore there is no PTZ support or functionality. All of the
above models were tested and certified with version 1.51 firmware on the camera.
VideoEdge IP Camera Performance
It has been verified that Intellex IP R200 can support streaming from 16 VideoEdge cameras
without any video loss. However, testing against the previous hardware versions of Intellex
PE860/PE750 indicates that there may be performance issues with 16 cameras @ 4CIF
resolution dependent upon frame rates and camera configurations chosen. It is recommended
that the outdoor VideoEdge cameras have infrared functionality enabled to improve performance.
VideoEdge IP Camera Frame Rates and Alarm messages.
The VideoEdge camera models above support all integer frame rates from 1 up to their
respective live frame rates (25 FPS for PAL, 30 FPS for NTSC).
In order to support input and output alarms on the VideoEdge IP Fixed cameras, it is
recommended that the frame rate of the cameras be set to greater than 1.
Green flicker when startup or changing settings
Changing the configuration settings on a previously connected VideoEdge camera can
sometimes cause a momentary green flicker on the video stream. This can occur while the
camera settings and decoder are being reinitialized.
This may also happen if the VideoEdge cameras are connected to the Intellex during the startup
procedure.

Centering Video images
Some VideoEdge camera models require a slight configuration change to perfectly centre the
video image within the viewing window, these are: ADCIPE3712OCPE; ADCIPEBPN;
ADCIPE3712OCN and ADCIPE3312ICPE. It is necessary to make a manual adjustment via the
camera web GUI to centre the image by adjusting the 'CCD X shift' to a value of 20.
In addition, on model ADCIPE3312ICPE the bottom of the image will also require the 'CCD Y
shift' adjustment to a value of 20; this is carried out via on the camera GUI web page.
To do this:
1. Log into the camera web GUI and append "/svideo.htm" to the camera USRL - e.g.
http://192.168.188.242/svideo.htm, see Figure 1.
Figure 1: Camera Login Screen
2. Enter the CCD X shift and CCD Y shift, if required for your camera model.
3. Click Submit. This will save and store the new configuration for that camera stream.
Network Interface Driver Updates
When streaming large amounts of video data from multiple VideoEdge cameras some data
packets can get lost, causing occasional loss of video images. To help prevent this, we
recommend that the Intellex IP R200 and the PE860 Ethernet card drivers are updated to the
Windows XP version 12.2.2.0.
These drivers can be obtained from the American Dynamics Intellex 4.3 Software Update 3 web
site for download go to
http://americandynamics.net/support/downloads_20100301_Intellex_v43_Patch.aspx.

Bosch IP Camera Support Update
The Bosch IP Camera Handler has been updated and certified to support the following models for
PAL and NTSC:
Table 2: Bosch IP Cameras Supported
The new Bosch IP Camera Handler also supports NWC-0455-10P.
In addition to the above, PTZ support has also been added for the Bosch VG4-500i camera
model range.
The Bosch VIP PE X1 Encoder has only been certified with non-PTZ Analogue Bosch Models
VDC-485V04-10P and VDC-485V04-20P Mini Dome cameras.
Note:
Intellex does not currently support Input or Output alarm functionality for Bosch cameras.
Bosch IP Camera Performance
Performance tests verify that 16 Bosch Cameras can be supported on an Intellex IP however with
a low frame rate (8FPS @ 4CIF on the IP PE R200) or a mix of different frame rates. On the
Intellex IP PE860 units this frame rate may be lower (7FPS @ 4CIF) To achieve high rates per
Bosch model the user must reduce the number of cameras connected to each Intellex IP.
Motion detection
Motion detection works best on the Intellex IP in bright light situations with clear distinctive
visibility conditions. It is therefore recommend that users increase the sensitivity levels on the
settings for day / night if motion detection is to be used.

Bosch VG4-500i Boot-up Times
Bosch VG4-500i models are large outdoor domes, and these have been known to take up to 3-5
minutes to finalize base checks internally and heat the pressurized dome. If powered up at the
same time as Intellex, then the Intellex system will have already started in its running state and
may not have registered the PTZ functionality (depending on how far the camera has powered on
before Intellex was ready). For those cases where the camera has not registered properly, you
can delete the camera entry and add it again (giving the camera an assignment slot) when the
camera is fully powered up and available, and then adding the PTZ capability.
Bosch IP VG4-500i Messages
When creating a preset on the Bosch VG4-500i you will see a confirmation message that must be
acknowledged before the preset is stored on the camera (see Figure 2). This functionality is
coded on the camera itself.
1. To acknowledge this message, exit from the presets on screen display controls and
select the Iris control for “Yes” or Focus Control for “No” and preset will be stored.
2. Repeat this process for each preset required.
