Who This installation must be performed by authorized technical personnel* only.
General
CAUTION
Before attempting to remove any of the projectors covers, the
projector has to be turned off and disconnected from the wall
outlet to minimize the risk of electric shock.
Before starting with the installation of the Light Shutter, always let
cool down the projector after operation in order to reduce the heat
on parts in the light path and to avoid burns.
WARNING
Eye damage may result from direct viewing the light produced by the lamp used in this
equipment. Always turn off lamp before opening cover.
PRODUCT CARE
Installation Kit: - The Kit R9841160 - Light Shutter - is designed for use ONLY with
the BARCO SLM series projectors.
Replacement parts - When replacement parts are required, be sure the service
technician has used original BARCO replacement parts or authorized replacement
parts which have the same characteristics as the BARCO original part.
Unauthorized substitutions may result in degraded performance and reliability, fire,
electric shock or other hazards. Unauthorized substitutions may void warranty.
Under no circumstances are BARCO parts repairable by anyone other than BARCO.
* Authorized technical personnel: persons having appropriate technical training and
experience necessary to be aware of hazards to which they are exposed in performing
a task and of measures to minimize the danger to themselves or other persons.

C ontents of the K it
C ontents The kit contains a C omplete Light S hutter unit.
L ight S hutter
dis pos al
To dispose of the defective units, return the unit to B AR C O in a complete original
packaging. This way is the kindest to the environment.
The Light S hutter does not contain any materials which is harmful to the environment
so it is not subject to special waste disposal.

Removing the Electronic Box
What has to be
done
The Electronic Box can be slid out of the projector frame after 4 spring screws have
been loosened.
Necessary Tools A flatblade screwdriver of 5 mm
Removing the
Electronic Box
To remove the Electronic Box, follow the next procedure:

loosen the 4 spring screw (A).
Pull by the handles the Electronic Box out the projector
frame.

To be able to remove the top cover, the Lamp Unit C over has to be removed
beforehand.

To remove the side panel, follow the next procedure:

Turn with a screwdriver the side panel lock screw a quarter
turn counter clockwise.
Pull the right side of the panel towards you and further to
the right to remove.

To remove the back cover, 3 Quarter turn fasteners have to be loosened.

Turn with a screwdriver the 3 back cover lock screws (A) a
quarter turn counter clockwise.
S lide the back cover backwards to remove.

To remove the Top cover, remove first the 3 feet, next unfasten the light cover cloth and
finally loosen the 4 Quarter turn fasteners.

To remove the top cover, follow the next procedure:

R emove the 3 feet, using the hexagon ball driver.
Pull out the 5 push fasteners (A) holding the light cover
cloth to the lens frame.

with 2 screws.

To mount the Light S hutter Assembly, follow the next procedure:

Place the light S hutter unit on the front side of the DMD
frame.
Fix the light shutter unit on the DMD frame with the 2
provided screws.

What has to be
done
Connect the Shutter Cable to the connector of the pre-installed cable.
Pre-ins talled C able A cable is already installed to allow an easy Shutter installation, this cable is connected
to connector J28 (image 1) on the Temp & Motor Control module and is guided through
theprovided hole in the Electronic B ox housing towards the shutter location located
near the engine (image 2 + image 3).
Note: On some older projectors, it is possible that this cable is not present, contact
Barco and order this cable, ordernumber: Z34870440, and install as described
above.
Connect the Shutter Cable to the connector on the pre-
installed cable.

To mount the the top cover, follow the next procedure:

Loosen the securing screws of the E lectronic box and slide
the unit a little out of frame to allow securing the front
fastener studs (see page 8).
Place the top cover on its place, lining up the quarter turn
fasteners studs with their respective receptacle.
Turn with a Flatblade screwdriver the 4 fastener studs (A) a
quarter turn clockwise.

socket head cap screw, using a hexagon ball driver.
Attach the light cover cloth to the lens frame by inserting
the 5 push fasteners (C ) .
