TheNCR5932–66xxUSBCompactAlphanumericKeyboardisapoint–of–sale(POS)

keyboardthatprovidesmaximumflexibilitythroughitscompletesetofalpha,

numericandprogrammablefunctionkeys.Italsoprovidessuperiorcompatibility

throughitssupportofthelatestObjectLinkingandEmbeddingforRetailPOS

(OPOS)andJavaPOStoenableuserstosupporttheapplicationandth

eoperating

systemoftheirchoice.

Itsprimaryuseisinhigh–performancecheckoutareasofgeneralmerchandiseand

fooddistributionsales.Thiskeyboardisdesignedwithsealedmembranesthatare

specificallycreatedtorepelspilledliquidsandwithstandextremeconditionsinretail

environments.

ItissupportedonthecurrentlyreleasedNCRRealPOSterminals.



disabledbydefault,andcanbeenabledbyflashconfigurationoption.

Note: Whenthekeyboarddisablestheex

ternalUSBport,thekeyboardcutsOFFthe

USBpowerbus;therefore,whenaself–poweredUSBdeviceisattachedtotheexternal

USBport,thedevicemaynotbedisabled.



Keyboard Status Indicator

Thekeyboardstatusindicatordisplaysthecurrentstateofthekeyboard.The

indicatoriscomposedoflight–emittingdiodes(LEDs)withthefollowingfunctions:

 NumLockIndicator—Emitsgreenlightwhenthenumberpadisinnumber

mode.

 CapsLockIndicator—Emitsgreenlightwhenalphakeysareincapsmode.

ThestatusindicatorLEDsdonotemitanylightwhenthePOSterminalisoff.

Glide Pad

Theglidepadprovidesamouse‐typepointingdevicethatisinternallyconnectedto

theUSB2.0HUBcontroller.WhentheKeylockisin“L”position,theexternalUSB

port,MSR,andglidepadarealldisabledbydefault,andcanbeenabledbyflash

configurationoptionorUSBHIDclassrequest.

Magnetic Stripe Reader

TheMagneticStripeReader(MSR)isanoptionalfeaturethatprovidessupportfor

readingmagneticallycodeddatacards.

ThekeyboardssupportthefollowingtypesofMSR:

Note: For5932–6670,theMSRheadisconnectedtothekeyboardcontrollerboard

throughtheMSRconnector.Thenecessaryelectronics(hardwareandfirmware)for

theoperationoftheMS

equippedaMagtekASICchip.TheMSRsignalsfromthereaderheadarerouted

directlytotheMagtekASICchipsupportedbythekeyboardcontroller.TheMSRdata

ispassedtothehos

tsystemintheformofkeyboardmessagesembeddedinthe

keyboarddatastream.
