Chapter 1: Installation
This chapter describes network requirements, site requirements,
electrical requirements, and installation instructions for the Datacard®
CE870™ Instant Issuance System.
The components are shipped in several containers. Make sure that you have all components,
including those not supplied, before you start the installation. Items not supplied in the shipping
cartons include Ethernet cable(s) and bolt-down supplies.
This chapter provides information about the CE system installation, including:

PC Requirements
Use a PC that meets or exceeds the following:
 A 32- or 64-bit processor, running at 2GHz or faster
 4 GB or more memory (RAM) and at least 1 GB free space on the hard drive
 One of the following operating systems:
 Windows 10, 32- or 64-bit
 Windows 8.1, 32- or 64-bit
 Windows 7, 32- or 64-bit
 Windows Server 2012, R2, 64-bit
 Windows Server 2008, 64-bit
 Ethernet network connection
 Datacard® CardWizard® issuance software
Ethernet Requirements
The following network components are required:
 An Ethernet network that uses the TCP/IP protocol and can run at 100 megabits per second,
also called 100base-T.
 An Ethernet cable to connect the system to the network. (An Ethernet cable is not supplied
with the system.)
Electrical Requirements
The power supply is rated as follows:
The power supply detects the input voltage and works within the stated range.

Site Requirements
Set up and use the system in an environment that meets the following requirements.
 Use single phase, 3-wire, grounded receptacles.
 Place the system in a location that provides the following:
 A sturdy, level surface. Avoid unstable locations.
 A surface that is no taller than 27 inches (68.5 cm) in height to allow easy user access and
viewing of components. Refer to “System Dimensions” on page4 for more information.
 Enough space to open all system access doors and to access power cords and data cables.
Refer to “Clearance Requirements” on page 5.
 Enough space around the printer to allow for ventilation.
 Select a location in an environment with temperatures ranging from 60° to 95°F (15° to 35°C).
 Keep the system and its supplies away from direct sunlight.
 Do not place the system near heating ducts, fans, or other air vents.
 Place the system and its supplies in a clean office environment, keeping paper and foreign
materials off the equipment.
 Keep all dust, dirt, food, and liquids away from the system.
 Do not use the system for purposes other than the intended use.
