AKC 164 Power
Connections Power for the AKC 164 Smart Case Controller is 24 VAC (60 Hz) and is supplied by a connection (8-
pin cable) to the PM 164 Power Module.
Maximum circuit overload protection is 20 amps. Mains line and neutral are connected as shown if a
single 20 amp circuit is to be used for all devices. If separate circuits are required for fans, anti-sweat
heaters, or both, the bus bars must be cut or removed as needed.
Inspection of the
Installed AKC 164 When an AKC 164 SC Smart Case Controller is ready for operation, you should be able to observe the
following:
1. Power connections (120 VAC) have been made to the PM 164 Power Module. The bus bars are
positioned, cut, or removed as necessary.
2. The address switches have been set to a valid address.
3. Sensors are tagged with the supplied color-coded tags; are in the corresponding proper locations; are
insulated if pipe-mounted; and are connected to the AKC 164 where indicated by the arrows printed
on top of the Smart Case Controller.
4. Interconnecting cables are in place between the Smart Case Controller and the Power Module, and
between the Power Module and the Defrost Module (if used).
5. Loads are connected to the Power Module and Defrost Module (if used).
6. The valve cable is connected to the Smart Case Controller with a 10-pin valve control cable, and
cables from external switches (if used) are spliced to their dedicated conductor leads in the valve
control cable.
7. Unused leads have been securely insulated.
8. I/O network connection has been made by splicing the red and black signal wires and their shield to
an I/O cable run connected to an AKC 55.
9. If this controller is the last node on a main run, make sure that it is terminated by using one of the
terminators supplied with the AKC 55.
