What is the Panic Button used for?
The panic button will initiate a “silent dial” alarm call on a Reach at-home alarm unit with speech in the listen mode only.
The button can be pressed by the resident if they feel threatened or uneasy with a visitor - the control centre can listen-in to
assess the situation before taking appropriate action.
With Advent xt the panic button will report in a pre-set mode and take priority over any other call in progress - 2 way speech will
be available via the intercom the panic button is registered to. Note: this is not a “silent-dial”.
With the Altec Response or Touchsafe Pro Nursecall system an “Attack/Help” alarm will be displayed.
Where should the Panic Button be fitted?
The panic button should be wall mounted in the hallway alongside the front door or anywhere it can be pressed discreetly
without drawing attention that an alarm call is being made.
Typical Tools Required
Check for cables and pipes in the wall before using the drill.
Make sure the correct type of drill bit and screwdriver are used.
Installation
Undo the 2 screws and carefully remove the switch
plate from the back box – take care as it will remain
attached by 2 wires.
Fix the back box to the wall with the screws & plugs
provided through the 2 fixing holes “A”
Making an Alarm Call
Simply press the button ONCE.
Take no further action.
Your call will be answered soon
Registering a Panic Button
It is necessary to register the panic button onto the warden call system, at-home alarm unit or Nursecall system.
Press the panic button - the RED TRANSMIT LIGHT will flash on the transmitter board inside for several seconds.
See the following pages for how to put each of these products into registration mode.
The range of all radio devices can be affected by the working environment - always take care during installation and
perform several test calls from all extremes of the building.
Battery Life
The panic button battery is checked once a day, if the voltage falls and stays below a pre-set level for 7 consecutive days a low
battery alert is automatically transmitted. Once a low battery call is received the panic button should be replaced within 7 days.
Panic buttons must be returned to Tynetec/Aidcall for battery replacement.
Detailed information on battery management for all Tynetec/Aidcall products is available - request Doc No. FM0630.
