1 About this unit
The “DULCOnneX gateway” can communicate with many smart devices (smartphone, tablet, ...) or
desktop computers (PC, laptop, ...) via Wi-Fi or LAN. This enables CAN controllers, which have
been connected to the “DULCOnneX gateway” and that have been equipped by ProMinent for this
purpose, to be largely controlled and monitored by a smart device or desktop computer.

5 Installation, electrical
CAUTION!
Malfunction from interference-prone
cables
Do not route the signal leads of the unit
alongside interference-prone cabling.
The interference could lead to malfunc‐
tion of the unit.
Implement interference suppression
measures in places where there is elec‐
trical interference in the environment.
CAUTION!
Malfunction from penetrated moisture
If this occurs: Properly seal the strain
relief mechanisms or cable threaded
connectors. Otherwise the intended
degree of protection will not be ach‐
ieved.
Requirements:
n The DULCOnneX units have an Ethernet
connector
1. The DULCOnneX units can be con‐
nected to your Ethernet installation.
2. Prepare the sockets for the controllers
and the “DULCOnneX gateway” but do
not yet insert the mains plug! That is
done during commissioning.
Installation, electrical
10
6 Commissioning of a controller with Ethernet connector on
the DULCOnneX gateway
The following is needed:
n "DULCOnneX gateway"
n DULCOnneX access code
n Controller with Ethernet connector
n M12 Ethernet cable
n Wi-Fi connection
n Smartphone, tablet or PC
Connection
1. Use the Ethernet cable to connect the
controller to the "DULCOnneX
gateway".
2. Prepare the socket for the controller
and/or the plug-in power pack but do not
yet insert the plug! This needs to
happen later in a controlled manner.
Setting up the controller
1. Connect the controller to the mains
voltage.
2. In the controller menu, in a menu, such
as Set-up - Bus configuration, make
sure that 192.168.001.201 is entered
as the IP address.
(i.e. DHCP must be deactivated.)
Setting up the "DULCOnneX gateway"
1. Connect the "DULCOnneX gateway" to
the mains voltage.
Only Wi-Fi and not LAN can be used
for the configuration!
2. Connect your PC, laptop or smart
device to the "DULCOnneX" Wi-Fi:
SSID: DULCOnneXgw$$$$ *
Password: FD1960de01
* $$$$ = the last 4 digits of the device’s
serial number
3. Use a current web browser to connect
your PC, laptop, smart device, to the
address

6. Save the entries and wait until the "DUL‐
COnneX gateway" restarts.
The following generally applies: Once
switched on, the "DULCOnneX
gateway" searches for the Wi-Fi with
the access data from its internal
memory.
There are now 2 options:
If this Wi-Fi is found, the "DUL‐
COnneX gateway" connects to it
and begins to transmit its data to
the DULCOnneX server.
If this Wi-Fi is not found, the "DUL‐
COnneX gateway" sets up its own
Wi-Fi using the SSID "DULCOn‐
neXgw$$$$". You can now follow
the steps under "DULCOnneX set-
up" and set up the DULCOnneX.
Setting up an account
(Only if no account already exists.)
1. To create an account on the "DUL‐
COnneX platform"
dulconnex.prominent.com/signup.html,
create a
‘username’
and a
‘password’
and enter your own e-mail address.
2. Enter the
‘access code’
(which you
received in the post) and enter a tick to
accept the legal information / "ProMinent
GmbH SLA Terms and Conditions".
ð
You will receive a verification e-
mail.
3. Click on the link in the verification e-
mail.
Add the controller / device to the account
Requirement:
The controller / device have been fully set up.
1. Log in to the "DULCOnneX platform"
dulconnex.prominent.com/login.html
.
2. Click on
‘Add device’
.
3. Enter the serial number of the controller
- refer to the nameplate on the device or
in the device’s menu.
ð
You will then be able to see the
latest measured values from your
controller in the browser on the
"DULCOnneX platform" in a matter
of minutes.

b) Wi-Fi
Check point OK
The Wi-Fi exists.
The Wi-Fi is not covered.
The Wi-Fi MAC filtering is deactivated or the MAC address is not in the "white list".
The Wi-Fi’s Internet connection does not need a proxy server or other specific security
equipment.
There are no "spaces" in the Wi-Fi SSID.

7.1.2 Explanations for a better understanding of the "DULCOnneX gateway"
a) Definitions
Name Definition
Host Wi-Fi The customer’s Wi-Fi to which the "DULCOnneX gateway" is
connected.
Configuration Wi-Fi The Wi-Fi of the "DULCOnneX gateway", with which you can
connect to set up the "DULCOnneX gateway". The "DULCOnneX
gateway" acts like an access point if this Wi-Fi is present.
b) Wi-Fi
The information for the host Wi-Fi is stored on
the SD card in the "DULCOnneX gateway". As
soon as you start the "DULCOnneX gateway", it
automatically looks for the host Wi-Fi and tries
to connect to it.
If the "DULCOnneX gateway" does not manage
to connect to the host Wi-Fi, it opens its own
Wi-Fi using "DULCOnneXgw$$$$" ($$$$ = the
last 4 digits of the serial number) or in older
versions, using the SSID "DULCOnnect" .
c) Connected devices
While starting up, the desired device must be
connected to the "DULCOnneX gateway" and
run smoothly.
During the start up, the following must occur,
for example:
n a DACb or AEGIS must be connected to
the "DULCOnneX gateway"; the IP of the
DACb or AEGIS must be set to
192.168.1.201.
Troubleshooting
16
7.1.3 Potential problems when starting up
a) Wi-Fi
Problem Cause Remedy
The "DULCOnneX gateway" is
not opening its configuration Wi-
Fi.
The "DULCOnneX
gateway" is connected to
the host Wi-Fi.
Switch off the host Wi-Fi or move
to somewhere that the host Wi-Fi
cannot reach.
The "DULCOnneX
gateway" cannot connect
to the device.
Ensure you use valid connection
data and a fully functional device.
(No longer relevant for all DACb as
of version 1.1.4.0. and AEGIS as
of version 4.1.4.0.)
b) Connection to devices
Problem Remedy
The "DULCOnneX gateway" cannot be con‐
nected to the DACb or AEGIS.
Check the cable connection.
Check the LAN configuration (192.168.1.201).
7.1.4 Router recommendations
Router type Properties, test results
Welotec TK525L-W Industry standard. Excellent configuration potential. Very good. Rather
expensive.
HUAWEI B525 Can be used for many purposes.
Fritzbox 6820 LTE Very similar to "HUAWEI B525".
TP Link M7310 Only a few setting options (e.g. you are not free to select the channel).
Has an integrated battery; so the router doesn’t automatically switch off
and on once connected to or separated from the power supply.
Netgear Aircard
790.
Not recommended for use with our "DULCOnneX gateways".
Troubleshooting
