Kit Type3

This chapter provides an overview of RICOH PJ Interactive Kit Type3 and describes its basic operations.

RICOH PJ Interactive Kit Type3 Overview

With this product, you can operate a computer screen projected on the screen. With "RICOH Interactive

Whiteboard Lt", the software that comes with this product, you can write information and perform

various other operations on the screen.

RICOH PJ Interactive Kit Type3 can be used with the following projectors:

• RICOH PJ WX4153 series

• RICOH PJ WUC4650/WXC4660 series

To perform various operations on the screen, it is necessary to configure the interactive function on both

the projector and the computer. For information about how to configure the interactive function, see

page 9 "Preparations for Using the Interactive Function".

Preparations for Using the Interactive Function

• Do not use the projector near a radio transmitter, television, copier, air conditioner, or other device

that may generate electromagnetic waves or radio frequencies.

• Do not use the projector in a dusty, extremely high- or low-temperature or humid environment.

• Keep any magnetic or static materials away from the camera lens in the interactive sensor.

Otherwise, the interactive function could experience interference.

• To use the interactive function, you must use an RGB cable or an HDMI cable to connect the

projector and computer.

• In Windows, use a duplicate desktop for projection instead of an extended desktop.

• When using the interactive function, using the projector remote control may cause unexpected

operations.

Operating a computer on the projection screen with the interactive pen

The interactive function allows you to operate a computer connected to the projector directly on the

projection screen.

Writing and drawing on a projected screen

You can also write and draw on a projected screen using the included software "RICOH Interactive

Whiteboard Lt".

Attaching the Interactive Sensor to the Projector

This section explains how to attach the interactive sensor to the projector.

• Do not lift the projector by holding the attached interactive sensor.

• Avoid applying excessive force to the interactive sensor when operating the projector.

1. Remove the top cover of the projector.

Loosen the screws by using the hexagon wrench, and then hold the screws and lift them upward

together.

4. Hook the cords onto the protrusion.

avoiding the intake vents.

• Highly adhesive double-sided tape is used to secure the attachment.

• Be careful not to touch the adhesive surface of the tape.

• Be careful of the position and orientation when attaching the attachment.

1. Gently wipe away any dirt from where the attachment is to be secured.

2. See the orientation of the attachment and the references for securing it.

3. Peel the release liner off the double-sided tape, and then align the edge of the attachment

with the attachment reference 1 groove.

secure the attachment to the projector.

Installing the Supplied Software on a Computer

To write and draw on a projection screen, install the RICOH PJ Interactive Setup Software and RICOH

Interactive Whiteboard Lt on a computer.

For details about how to use the RICOH PJ Interactive Setup Software, see page 17 "Aligning Pen

Recognition Positions". For details about how to use RICOH Interactive Whiteboard Lt, see Operating

Instructions provided with RICOH Interactive Whiteboard Lt.

• To install the software on a computer, log on as a user with administrator privileges.

1. Insert the CD-ROM in the CD-ROM drive of your computer.

2. Select the language for the installation, and then click [Select].

3. Click [Setup Software].

4. Click [Install] under "Installation of RICOH PJ Interactive Setup Software".

5. When the installation has completed, click [Next].

6. Click [Install] under "Installation of RICOH Interactive Whiteboard Lt".

7. When the installation has completed, click [Complete].

8. Click [Exit].

• If the [User Account Control] dialog box appears during the installation procedure, click [Yes] or

[Continue].

• To uninstall the software, use the program delete function in [Control Panel] to delete the software.

Connecting the Projector and a Computer

This section explains how to connect the projector and a computer.

1. Connect the computer to the projector using RGB cables or an HDMI cable.

For the connection procedure, see the operating instructions provided with the projector.

Aligning Pen Recognition Positions

Once pen recognition positions are aligned, you can directly operate the computer display on the

screen.

• Realign pen recognition positions in case of the following:

• After moving the projector

• After changing the input signal resolution

• After changing the display area with a function such as "Zoom" or "Aspect"

• Use one of the computer screen resolutions listed below. If any other resolution is used, the

interactive function may not work normally.

• 1024×768

• 1280×800

• 1366×768

• 1920×1080

1. Turn on the projector to project the screen.

To turn on the projector or project the screen, see the operating instructions provided with the

projector.

2. Project the computer screen on the projector screen.

For the projecting procedure, see the operating instructions provided with the projector.

3. Start the RICOH PJ Interactive Setup Software.

4. When the images are projected in "Rear" or "Ceiling" mode, select the appropriate

projection mode under "Options" according to how the projector is positioned.

5. Click [Start Adjustment] under "STEP 1 Adjust Sensor Angle".

6. Adjust the angle of the sensor so the projected image fits within the blue frame.

Adjust brightness of the sensor when the projected image is blurred.

Adjust the camera angle by using the hexagon wrench to make the bottom of the projected image

as close to the bottom of the blue frame as possible.

7. Click [Finish].

8. Click [Alignment] under "STEP 2 Alignment".

9. Click [Auto Alignment].

• Returns to previous screen if successful.

• If it fails, an error message is displayed. Try again.
