The Amulet Hotkey CoreModule is a unique core expansion module that brings
graphics virtualizaon and GPU compute acceleraon to Dell EMC’s PowerEdge
MX7000 Modular Chassis plaorm.
CoreModule kit includes
CoreModule expansion module with space for four CoreCartridges;
At least one CoreCartridge (not ed);
Blanking units for all other slots (ed);
Amulet Hotkey Mezzanine (‘Mezz’) card(s) with orthogonal connector.
Requirements
At least one MX740c compute sled with two Scalable Xeon CPUs, or
MX840c (with four Scalable Xeon CPUs) installed in an MX7000 enclosure
Each sled that accesses a CoreCartridge requires a new mezz card
Two compute sleds to ulize both GPUs in a CoreCartridge
Two CoreModules to ulize two GPUs per compute sled
Cauon: !
Power down any sleds that connect to the CoreModule with Amulet
Hotkey Mezzanine cards before you install or remove a CoreModule.
Cauon: !
Always use appropriate an-stac handling procedures.
Before you start
1 Remove all packaging and keep.
2 Power down any sleds that will connect to the CoreModule with an Amulet
Hotkey mezzanine card.
3 Select the correct locaon for the CoreCartridge(s) in the CoreModule.
Example: If there are two compute sleds in slots 1 and 2 in the chassis then install
the CoreCartridge into posion A. See Figure 1.
Figure 1: Mapping of CoreCartridge to Compute Sleds
Prepare the sled(s)
1 Do the following for each sled that will access a CoreCartridge.
Remove a compute sled from the MX7000 enclosure;
Install the Amulet Hotkey Mezzanine card in the sled;
Replace a compute sled in the MX7000 enclosure.
Remove a compute sled from the MX7000 enclosure
1 Press the blue buon on the sled to release the sled handle. See Figure 2.
2 Hold the sled handle and slide the sled out of the enclosure. See Figure 2.
Figure 2: Remove a compute sled.
3 Place the sled on the at surface with the cover upwards. See Figure 3.
4 Press the blue release tab on the cover and move the cover to the rear.
5 Hold the cover on both sides, and li the cover away from the sled.
Figure 3: Remove the cover of the compute sled
Install the Amulet Hotkey Mezzanine card in the sled
1 With a Philips #2 screwdriver, remove any Dell ‘mezz’ card from the Fabric B.
2 Install the Amulet Hotkey mezzanine card into the Fabric B.
3 Tighten the screws with a Torx T15 screwdriver. See Figure 4.
Cauon: !
Make sure screws are fully ghtened, or damage could result from a
loose connecon.
