Timer Menu
This PVR allows you to set a timer event to record a programme broadcast up to one month in the future
A Timer Event can be created in two ways
1.Through the TV Guide(Up to 7 days)
To access the TV Guide from the Timer Menu press the Green Key(see page 15)
2.Through the Timer Menu(Up to 1 month)
From the Setup Menu select the Timer Menu option and press the Ok key.
If no Timer Events are in the Timer Menu, Position 1 will be selected.
If there are already timer events stored in the Timer Menu, to enter a new Timer Event
press the Red (New)key and the first available position will be selected.
Title / Channel column
A Drop Down list of available channels will appear on screen
Use the cursor keys to select the channel you wish to record and press the OK key
The selected channel will be entered into the Title/Channel column and the highlighted
cursor will move to the Date column.
Date Column
Enter the required date (Up to 1 month in advance) using the cursor keys or the
number keys. A weekly or daily event can also be entered in this column(see page 18).
Press the OK key to store and move the Highlight to the Start Column
Start Column
Enter the Start time using the cursor keys and press the OK key.The Start time can
also be entered directly using the number keys. The highlight will move to the Stop
Column.
Stop Column
Enter the Stop time using the cursor keys and press the OK key.The Stop time can
also be entered directly using the number keys.
Record Column
The Record column allows you to set the target for the recording i.e. where the
recording will be stored. Use the Channel Up/Down keys to choose between the three
available options.
Internal
Recording will be stored on the Internal
Hard Disk Drive
External without Subtitles
Recording will be made through AV2 to
an atttached recording device. No
Subtitles will be displayed.
External with Subtitles
Recording will be made through the
AV2 to an atttached recording device.
Subtitles will be displayed if available.
If the External options are selected, remember to set your Recorder timer to match
the required event. If your Recorder supports External Link recording control, the
PVR will automatically control the external device recording. Please refer to your
recording device manual to confirm that it is compatible with this system. The
Timer Event will not be recorded to the HDD.
Once all settings are correct press the Red key to store the timer event.
The symbol will appear on the front panel indicating that a timer event is set.
Set another timer event usng the above method or press the EXIT key to leave the menu.
This PVR contains two tuner units which enables two timer events which overlap to be set.

When a Timer Event Starts
When a timer event is about to start, a warning banner will appear on screen informing the user.
If you wish to cancel the recording, press the EXIT key while this banner is on screen.
The PVR will switch the live feed not being viewed to the correct channel and begin recording. The user can continue
watching the current channel, while the PVR records the second live feed. The REC symbol and the timer event symbol
will appear on the front panel.
If you wish to view the live feed being recorded press the Source key.
If you have programmed two overlapping timer events
When the first timer event starts, an information banner will appear on screen. The live feed not being viewed will switch
to the correct channel and begin recording.
When the second timer event starts, an information banner will appear on screen informing the user. If the Timer Event is
not cancelled while this banner is on screen using the EXIT key, the PVR will change the channel being viewed to the
correct channel and begin recording.
If two recordings are being made you cannot change channel until one of the recordings has stopped. You may
switch between the two channels being recorded using the Source key.
If a timer event is due to start when one live feed is being recorded manually and the other live feed is being
recorded by timer record, a warning will appear on screen. You will need to manually stop one of the recordings
to enable the timer event to start.
Daily and Weekly Recordings
While in the Date column of the Timer Recording Menu, you can select a Daily
and Weekly option to determine how often a recording should be made. This is
useful if you wish to tape the same event at the same time every day or every
week.
Press the Green (Daily) key to access the daily options. Select the desired
option using the cursor keys. Press the OK key to confirm.
Daily Su-Sa
The Timer Event will occur at the same time every day (Sunday to Saturday)
Daily Mo-Sa
The Timer Event will occur at the same time each day (Monday to Saturday)
Daily Mo-Fr
The Timer Event will occur at the same time each day (Monday to Friday).
Press the Yellow (Weekly) key to access the Weekly options. Select the desired
option using the cursor keys and press the OK key.
Weekly (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday)
The Timer Event will occur at the same time on the same day every week until
cancelled.
Renewal Feature
When using the Daily and Weekly Recordings and the Target is set to HDD, the Timer
Menu allows access to the Renewal feature. The Renewal feature allows you to save
HDD space by replacing the last episode of a daily or weekly event with the latest
episode, only if the last episode has been viewed.
To turn this feature on press the Blue (Renewal) key. This will place the HDD
renewal symbol in the Target column
If the last episode of a timer event has been viewed and the timer event starts
again the last episode will be replaced.
The last episode will not be replaced if it has not been viewed or if the user has
locked the recording. The recording will be made using extra HDD space.
Deleting a Timer Event from the Timer Record Menu
If you wish to delete a timer event, enter the Timer Record Menu, select the relevant timer event and press the Del key.
Confirm that you wish to delete the event by using the OK key or use the EXIT key to cancel the deletion.
Press the EXIT key to leave the menu.

Playback of Recordings (Archive)
To view Archive recordings stored on the HDD, access the Direct Navigator Screen Menu by one of the following steps.
1.Press the Play key on the remote control.
If no recordings have been viewed, pressing the Play key will access the Direct Navigator Screen.
If a recording has been viewed but stopped before it’s end, pressing the Play key will resume playback of that
recording.
If a Recording has been viewed entirely and has automatically stopped, pressing the Play key will access the Direct
Navigator Screen
2.Press the Direct Navigator key on the Remote Control
3.Access the Disk manager contents option through the Setup menu and select Show Contents.
Use the cursor keys to select the recording you wish to view and press the OK key.
This will switch the preview window to the selected recording
Press the OK key or Play key to switch the recording in the preview window to full screen viewing.
If you wish to stop a recording, press the Stop key.
To resume watching the recording, press the Play key.
To switch to a different recording, press the Direct Navigator key and select the desired recording from the available list.
Fast Forward key
To fast forward through a recording press the Fast Forward key on the remote control or on the front panel.
Press the Fast Forward key again to increase the fast forward speed in pre-defined steps. The fast forward speed
selected is displayed in the top left hand corner of the screen and on the front panel. The fast forward speeds available
are:
X3, X12, X24, X60 and X120
Pressing the Rewind key in Fast Forward mode will reduce the Fast Forward Speed by one step
Rewind
To rewind backwards through a recording press the Rewind key on the remote control or on the front panel.
Press the Rewind key again to increase the rewind speed in pre-defined steps. The rewind speed selected is displayed
in the top left hand corner of the screen and on the front panel. The rewind speeds available are:
X3, X12, X24, X60 and X120
Pressing the Fast Forward key in Rewind mode will reduce the Rewind Speed by one step
Pause
To pause playback of a recording press the Pause key on the remote control.
To resume playback of the recording press the Play key on the remote control.
Still Advance Mode
While in Pause mode, the recording can be advanced in ¼ speed by pressing the Fast Forward key
The Banner in Archive Mode
Pressing the i key while in Archive playback mode will display the Banner. The Banner format in Archive mode is
different to Live Broadcast mode.

Chapters
Adding Chapters
A Chapter can be used to mark a point in a recording that you wish to return to.
When you reach the point in the recording to which you wish to add a Chapter, press the Chapter Set key.
A banner appears on screen informing the user that a chapter point has been added e.g. ‘Add Chapter #1
Chapters can be set during playback of a recording or while a recording is being made. A maximum of ten
chapter points can be set per recording.
Accessing a Chapter
To access a Chapter in a recording, while viewing the recording press the Chapter Go key.
This will display a list of available Chapters for the Recording being viewed.
Scroll through the available chapters using the cursor keys and press the OK key to select the desired chapter.
Pressing the Chapter Go key also allows you to jump to the Beginning or End of the recording.
From the list, select Beginning or End using the cursor keys and press the OK key to access that point.
Chapters can only be deleted in the Programme Edit Screen (see pages 22-23).
Adding Skip Areas to a Recording
While viewing a recording, sections which you wish to skip on future viewings can be set. These skip areas are hidden
from view during future playbacks. The skip areas are not deleted from the recording and can be restored in the
Programme Edit Screen (see pages 22-23)
To set the start point of a skip area press the Skip key, a banner will appear informing the user that the start point of a
skip section has been set.
Press the Skip key again to set the end point of the Skip Area and remove the banner from the screen.
On future viewings of a recording, at the point at which the Skip Area was set a skip banner
will appear in the top left hand corner of the screen informing the user that a section of the
recording has been skipped.
Skip Areas can be set during playback of a recording or while a recording is being made. A maximum of
ten skip areas can be set per recording.
Skip Areas can only be removed in the Programme Edit screen (See pages 22-23).

Direct Navigator Screen
The Direct Navigator Screen allows you to view and manage any recordings stored on the hard drive
You can access the Direct Navigator Screen in one of two ways.
1. Press the Direct Navigator key on the remote control
2. From the Setup Menu, access the Disk Manager Menu and select the Show Contents option.
The Direct Navigator Screen shows the following information:
Recording List
This shows a list of the recordings stored on the HDD. Scroll through the available recordings using the cursor keys.
The currently selected recording will be highlighted in yellow.
New Recordings that have not been viewed are marked with NEW!
Recordings that are still being recorded are marked Rec!
You can start watching the beginning of a recording that is currently being made. You will not be able to edit
this recording.
Preview Window
This shows a video preview of the currently selected recording.
Length of selected recording
This shows the duration of the currently selected recording.
Available Hard Disk Space
This shows how much space on the HDD is free and how much is used.
Quick Key Guide
This shows all the key operations for the current screen.
To View a Recording
Select the required recording using the cursor keys and press the OK key. The preview window will switch to the
selected recording. Press the OK key again or Play key to view the recording in full screen mode.
To Delete a recording
Select the recording to be deleted using the cursor keys and press the Delete key on the remote control. You will be
asked to confirm that you wish to delete the selected recording. Press the OK key to delete the recording or the exit key
if you wish to keep the recording.
You cannot delete a recording that is locked, to delete a locked recording, unlock it first.
To Sort Recordings
Press the red key to sort the recordings. The recordings can be sorted by the following characteristics.
Date – The date in which the recordings were made.
Title – The recordings will be sorted in to alphabetical order by title
Programme Type – The recordings will be sorted into programme type i.e art/culture, news etc
To Lock a Recording
Highlight the required recording and press the Green key to lock the programme. This will stop the recording from being
overwritten. A padlock symbol will appear next to the recording.
If the HDD is full and a new recording is made, old recordings that are not locked may be overwritten.
To unlock a recording, highlight the locked recording and press the green key to remove the padlock symbol .
To View Extra Information on a Recording
Highlight the required recording and press the
i key on the remote control to display extra information if available.
To exit the Direct Navigator Screen, press the EXIT key.

Programme Edit
The Programme Edit Screen allows the user to edit or modify recordings archived on the Hard Disk Drive (HDD)
Press the Direct Navigator key on the remote control to enter the Direct Navigator Screen.
Select the recording to be edited using the cursor keys and press the EDIT key to enter the Programme Edit Screen.
The Programme Edit Screen
The selected recording will be played in the preview window in the top left hand corner of the screen.
The Recording Information is displayed next to preview window giving information about the recording to be edited.
At the bottom of the screen a Progress Bar represents the total length of the recording.
A yellow arrow indicates the current part of the recording being viewed.
Red sections are used to indicate any skip areas added to the recording by the user.
Any Chapters added to the recording are represented by white arrows above the progress bar.
In all Programme Edit screens, the Play, Fast Forward, Rewind and Pause keys can be used to navigate through
the selected recording (see page 19).
The editing features available in this screen are accessed through the colour keys.
If no Skip areas have been added, the Yellow key operation is disabled.
If no Chapters have been added, the Blue key operation is disabled.
Title Name (Red key)
Allows the user to change the title of the stored recording.
Press the Red key to display the list of available characters. Use the cursor keys to navigate the character list and the
OK key to add the highlighted character to the recording title. To delete a character press the DEL key.
When the new title is complete, press the Yellow key to store it.
To exit the character list without changing the title press the MENU key. Press the EXIT key to leave the Programme
Edit screen.
Prog. Type (Green key)
Allows the user to change the Programme Type that the recording is stored under.
Press the Green key to display the list of available Programme Types. Use the Cursor keys to navigate the Programme
Type List and the OK key to store the new Programme Type.

Programme Edit Screen (Continued)
Skip Area (Yellow key)
The Programme Edit screen allows the management of any skip areas that have
been added to a recording by the user.
Press the Yellow key to display a list of Skip areas, the number corresponding to the
relevant skip area will appear in the red sections on the progress bar.
Select the required skip area using the cursor keys.
To jump to the selected skip area press the OK key.
To remove a skip area from the recording, press the Delete key. This will remove the selected skip area from the list and
remove the corresponding red section from the progress bar. The skip areas will be re-numbered accordingly.
When the skip areas are re-numbered, the Skip area menu will disappear from the screen. Press the Yellow key to
access it again.
Skip Areas can be set in the Programme Edit screen (see page 20).
Chapter (Blue key)
The Programme Edit screen allows the management of any Chapters added to a
recording.
Press the Blue key to display the list of Chapters. The number corresponding to
each Chapter will appear on the progress bar under the Chapter white arrows.
Select the required Chapter using the cursor keys.
To delete the selected Chapter press the Del key. Confirm that you wish to delete the selected Chapter using the OK
key or press the EXIT key to keep the Chapter. The Chapters will be re-numbered accordingly.
When the Chapters are re-numbered, the Chapter menu will disappear from the screen. Press the Blue key to access it
again.
Chapters can be set in the Programme Edit screen (see page 20).
Programme Edit Screen - Partial Delete / Divide
Pressing the Edit key while in the Programme Edit Screen, allows access to
advanced editing features.
Select the desired option using the cursor keys and press the OK key to access.
Partial Delete – Delete sections of a recording.
Divide – Divide a recording into two separate recordings.
Select the required option (Partial Delete or Divide) using the cursor keys and the OK
key.

Programme Edit Screen - Partial Delete
This feature allows the user to delete unwanted sections of a recording.
To delete a section of a recording you must select a start point and an end point. The
section of recording between these points will be deleted.
Press the EDIT key to access the partial delete screen.
The recording to be edited will be played out in the top left corner of the screen.
Setting the Start Point
Navigate to the start of the section you wish to delete from the recording.
It is best to Pause the recording at the point you wish to set as a Start or
End point.
Press the OK key and the current screen will be placed in the Start Window along with
it’s time reference. To confirm the start point press the OK key again.
Setting the Start Point at the Beginning of a Recording
If you wish to delete from the beginning of the recording, press the Yellow (From
Beginning) key. This will set the Start Point at the very beginning of the Recording.
Press the OK key to confirm this start point.
To cancel the start point press the Green Key.
Setting the End Point
Navigate to the End point of the section to be deleted.
Press the OK key to add the current point to the End window.
Press the OK key to confirm the End point.
Setting the End Point at the End of a Recording
If you wish to delete up to the end of the recording, press the Yellow (Until End) key.
This will set the End Point at the very end of the Recording.
Press the OK key to confirm this End point.
Once the Start and End points have been set you can preview the point without
the deleted section. This allows you to see how the recording will view with the
section removed before permanently deleting it. To see a preview press the Red
key.
To reset the Start and End Points press the Green key.
To exit the menu with out deleting the section press the EXIT key.
To delete the section press the Del key on the remote control. Confirm that you
wish to delete the section and press the OK key. If you do not wish to delete the
section press the EXIT key.
Once a section of a recording has been deleted, it can not be restored.
A minimum period of 1 second can be deleted.
While a section is being deleted, ‘Please Wait’ will appear on screen. Dependent upon the size of the section
being deleted, this process may take several minutes to complete.
