Overview
The JetNet 4110L can be thought of a replacement for wires for RS-485 applications.
It is important to know there are 2 "addresses" in the JW 4110L:
RF Address
Modbus Address
It will be good practice to name in a similar manner so not to get confused.
The RF Address is the addressing scheme for the wireless LoRa communication, while the Modbus
Address is the for the modbus functionality.

Verifying the settings
When setting up the JetWave 4110L I personally prefer to use 2 serial terminal consoles to do the
very first verification, because if you are able to communicate with the 2 serial terminal console it
means that communication between the the JetWave 4110L is done correctly and you will be able
have a better ease of mind later on when putting your solution together. Meaning you can focus your
efforts of troubleshooting to other aspects of the solution such as cabling or Modbus settings.
Once you finished setting up the devices as showed you can test out the communication between
the 2 devices with the following:
1. Laptop
2. 2x instances terminal software running connected to (COM 1 and COM 3)
Launch the 2 instances of the terminal software then connect to the correct Com Ports and Settings
Once that is done you can then confirm that your communication between the 2 or more units are
correctly done.
To test the communication simply select the Terminal Window on one COM Port and start typing, the
same text will appear on the other terminal window if everything is setup correctly.

Putting your solution together
The main use case of the JetWave 4110L is to be used as a "Wire Replacement" and use this wireless
replacement over long distances.
Once you are able to communicate correctly through the terminal-to-terminal test as stated above
you will be ready for the next step, connecting your HMI/PLC to your Remote I/O wirelessly.
To get the obvious out of the way, in order for this to work all the devices connecting to the JetWave
4110L must have the same serial settings. In this example we have used 9600 baudrate, 8 bits, No
Parity, 1 Stop bit (9600 8 N 1).
Once connected wired up correctly your Modbus master will be able to communicate with the Slaves
that are connected wireless.
We will explore how to use the Modbus slave functionalities on the JetWave 4110L in another quick
start guide.
Troubleshooting Tips
Status light is constantly blinking red
o Check the RS-485 connecting to make sure it has a solid connection or swap the
Tx/Rx pair if have to
Text transmitted over terminal is not readable gibberish
o Check the Com Port Settings both on the Device and the Terminal Software to make
sure they match, both devices should have matching settings as well.
