2 Safety informaon and use
2.1 Requirements for the user
This operang manual is intended for persons assigned with operang
and monitoring the Fritsch PULVERISETTE 25. The operang manual and
especially its safety instrucons are to be observed by all persons
working on or with this device. In addion, the applicable rules and regu-
laons for accident prevenon at the installaon site are to be observed.
Always keep the operang manual at the installaon site of the PULVERI-
SETTE 25.
People with health problems or under the inuence of medicaon,
drugs, alcohol or exhauson must not operate this device.
The PULVERISETTE 25 may only be operated by authorised persons and
serviced or repaired by trained specialists. All commissioning, mainte-
nance and repair work may only be carried out by technically qualied
personnel. Qualied personnel are persons who, because of their educa-
on, experience and training as well as their knowledge of relevant
standards, regulaons, accident prevenon guidelines and operang
condions, are authorised by those responsible for the safety of the
machine to carry out the required work and are able to recognize and
avoid possible hazards as dened for skilled workers in IEC 364.
In order to prevent hazards to users, follow the instrucons in this
manual.
Malfuncons that impair the safety of persons, the PULVERISETTE 25 or
other material property must be reced immediately. The following
informaon serves both the personal safety of operang personnel as
well as the safety of the products described and any devices connected
to them: All maintenance and repair work may only be performed by
technically qualied personnel.
This operang manual is not a complete technical descripon. Only the
details required for operaon and maintaining usability are described.
Fritsch has prepared and reviewed this operang manual with the
greatest care. However, no guarantee is made for its completeness or
accuracy.

2.2 Scope of applicaon
The Power - cung mill PULVERISETTE 25 can be used for the fast com-
minuon of medium-hard, brile, tough and brous materials like:
Sheet rubber, plascs, metal-free refuse, dry meat, leather, wood, coal,
malt, paper/cardboard, peat, animal feed, pasta, tablets, leaves, pellets,
spices, mesh wire, straw, maize, bones

2.2.1 Operang principle
The material to be cut is moved in front of a plunger and fed into the
cung chamber by means of a funnel. There, rotang knives in combina-
on with three xed knives cut the sample material. The cung chamber
is closed at the boom by a sieve cassee. Comminuted material is gath-
ered in a collecng vessel aer it passes the sieve cassee.
2.2.2 Drive motor
A three-phase motor without mechanical brake serves as the drive.
2.3 Obligaons of the operator
Before using the PULVERISETTE 25, this manual is to be carefully read
and understood. The use of the PULVERISETTE 25 requires technical
knowledge; only commercial use is permied.
The operang personnel must be familiar with the content of the oper-
ang manual. For this reason, it is very important that these persons
actually receive the present operang manual. Ensure that the operang
manual is always near the device.
The PULVERISETTE 25 may exclusively be used within the scope of appli-
caons set down in this manual and within the framework of guidelines
put forth in this manual. In case of non-compliance or improper use, the
customer assumes full liability for the funconal capability of the PUL-
VERISETTE 25 and for any damage or injury arising from failure to full
this obligaon.
By using the PULVERISETTE 25 the customer agrees with this and recog-
nizes that defects, malfuncons or errors cannot be completely excluded.
To prevent risk of damage to persons or property or of other direct or
indirect damage, resulng from this or other causes, the customer must
implement sucient and comprehensive safety measures for working
with the PULVERISETTE 25.
Neither compliance with this manual nor the condions and methods
used during installaon, operaon, use and maintenance of the PULVERI-
SETTE 25 can be monitored by Fritsch GmbH. Improper execuon of the
installaon can result in property damage and thus endanger persons.
Therefore, we assume absolutely no responsibility or liability for loss,
damage or costs that result from errors at installaon, improper opera-
on or improper use or improper maintenance or are in any way con-
nected to these.
The applicable accident prevenon guidelines must be complied with.
Generally applicable legal and other obligatory regulaons regarding
environmental protecon must be observed.

2.5 Device safety informaon
nOnly use original accessories and original spare parts. Failure to
observe this instrucon can compromise the safety of the machine.
nAccident-proof conduct is to be strictly followed during all work.
nComply with all currently applicable naonal and internaonal acci-
dent prevenon guidelines.
CAUTION!
Wear hearing protecon!
If a noise level of 85 dB(A) is reached or exceeded, ear
protecon should be worn to prevent hearing damage.
WARNING!
The maximum accepted concentraon (MAC) levels of
the relevant safety guidelines must be observed; if nec-
essary, venlaon must be provided or the machine
must be operated under an extractor hood.

Explosion hazard!
When Cung oxidizable substances, e.g. metals or
coal, there is a risk of spontaneous combuson
(dust explosion) if the share of ne parcles
exceeds a certain percentage. When Cung these
kinds of substances, special safety measures must
be taken and the work must be supervised from a
specialist.
The PULVERISETTE 25 is not explosion protected
and is not designed to cu explosive materials.
nDo not remove the informaon signs.
NOTICE!
Immediately replace damaged or illegible informaon
signs.
nUnauthorised alteraon of the PULVERISETTE 25 will void Fritsch's
declaraon of conformity to European direcves and void the guar-
antee.
nOnly use the PULVERISETTE 25 when it is in proper working order, as
intended and in a safety- and hazard-conscious manner adhering to
the operang manual. In parcular, immediately recfy any malfunc-
ons that could pose a safety hazard.

2.6 Protecve equipment
Protecve equipment is to be used as intended and may
not be disabled or removed.
All protecve equipment is to be regularly checked for
integrity and proper funconing.
The Power - cung mill has a comprehensive safety system:
1. A safety switch monitors the closing of the closing lid during opera-
on and prevents the Power - cung mill from starng up when
the grinding chamber is open.
2. There is a safety switch for monitoring the collecng vessel.
During operaon, it monitors the posion of the collecng vessel
for the material to be cut (3.5 l or 30 l container) and prevents the
mill from starng up when the container has been removed.
3. When the standard funnel is used, it is also checked by a safety
switch. If the funnel is not closed, start-up is prevented.
CAUTION!
Do not operate the device without a funnel!

2.6.1 Opening the cung mill without mains connecon
DANGER!
The lock must only be released manually when the
closing lid is closed.
The latch clamp of the door must be locked!

1. Insert the supplied triangular key into the bore hole under the
safety lock and turn it clockwise.
2. The closing lid can be opened aer opening the latch clamp.
3. At this me, it is not possible to switch on the Power - cung mill.
To switch it on, the safety lock must be acvated by turning the tri-
angular key to the le, the closing lid must be closed and the latch
clamp in locked posion.
2.7 Hazardous points
nThe closing lid can be lied out of the hinges. When opening the
upper part of the housing it is possible to leave the closing lid in the
hinge. If this is the case, ensure that the closing lid does not li out
of the hinge when opening the upper part of the housing.
nWhen opening the upper part of the housing, there is an inial
resistance.
nMake sure that the closing lid is fully open!
CAUTION!
Crushing hazard!
If the closing lid is not completely open, it can p for-
ward when the upper part of the housing is opened.

nWhen opening the upper part of the housing, slowly swivel it open
unl the upper part of the housing is resng on the rubber bumper -
do not let it fall down heavily.
CAUTION!

When closing the upper part of the housing: Close care-
fully!

hexagon socket screw key must be removed immediately aer the
task is completed.
2.8 Electrical safety
2.8.1 General informaon
nThe switch on the back is a main switch.
nSwitch the main switch on the back of the Power - cung mill to 0
(OFF) if the device is idle for a longer period of me (e.g. overnight).
2.8.2 Protecon against restart
In the case of power failure during operaon or aer switching o with
the control switch, the closing lid is locked. The lock is opened when
power returns. However, for safety reasons the cung mill does not
restart.

2.8.3 Direcon of rotaon detecon
A unit for detecon of the direcon of rotaon is installed in devices with
a three-phase motor:
If the STOP buon lights up red aer connecng to a three-phase power
system and switching the main switch to I (ON), the direcon of rotaon
must be corrected. To do this, two phases in the mains plug must be
replaced. See

4 Installaon
4.1 Transport
The device is delivered on a transport pallet with a wooden cover. We
recommend using a forkli or pallet truck for transporng the packed
device.
DANGER!
Do not step under the transport pallet during transport.
WARNING!
Improper liing can lead to personal injury or property
damage. The machine is only to be lied with suitable
equipment and by qualied personnel.
The guarantee excludes all claims for damage due to improper transport.
4.2 Unpacking
nPull out the nails that fasten the cover to the transport pallet. The
cover is the wooden box that has been placed over the transport
pallet.

4.3 Seng up

4.5 Electrical connecon
Before establishing the connecon, compare the voltage and current
values stated on the type plate with the values of the mains system to be
used.
CAUTION!
Ignoring the values on the type plate may result in
damage to the electrical and mechanical components.
If the STOP buon lights up red aer connecng to a three-phase power
system and switching the main switch to I (ON), the direcon of rotaon
must be corrected. To do this, the two phases in the mains plug must be
replaced.
4.5.1 Adapng to the mains
Changes to the connecon voltage, i.e. from 230 V 3~ to 400 V 3~, and /
or the connecon line may only be made by a qualied technician.
