2 Brief descripon on the operang mode of the combinaon
NOTICE
Observe the safety instrucons listed in the operang manuals
of your individual instruments.
The modes of control for both instruments can be found in the
operang manual.
2.1 Pre-crushing PULVERISETTE 19
large
The parcle feed size is determined by the grindability (the toughness) of the
materials for comminuon, e.g. metals, tyre rubber, some tough plascs such as
PVC, PA, ABS etc. leather and the like, can be fed in only in small parcle feed
sizes (10-30 mm). The parcle feed size can be up to 50 mm for not so tough
materials such as wood, paper, circuit board material, minerals etc.
Feed quanty / Time
Motor speed and torque
Geometry of the knife blades
Sharpness and condion of the knife blades
Gap width between xed and rotang knives
Sieve size or nal neness
Condion of the sieves (degree of the blockage)
Air ow rate (depending on the degree of blockage and vacuum cleaner
performance)
With mixed materials such as shredder waste (without metals in it), an average
parcle feed size of approx. 20-30 mm has proven to be good for fault-free
operaon.
7
Brief descripon on the operang mode of the combinaon
2.2 Sample divider
The sample divider has the task of reducing the sample quanty for the ne
grinder. No great requirements are made thereby for the reproducibility of the
separang. It needs to be ensured that the sample material is not fraconated,
i.e. in light and heavy or ne and rough components.
The division rate, i.e. the sample quanty which is let pass depends in turn on the
sample material and the nal neness of the pre-crusher. It is set by covering the
openings.
2.3 Fine grinder PULVERISETTE 19
The same is valid for ne grinder as for the pre-crusher PULVERISETTE 19
large
due to the same theory of operaon. Due to the narrow sieve meshes there
is here also the risk of clogging of the sieve meshes. If the sieve clogs up,
the airow is interrupted and the system will fail completely. The condion of
the sieve therefore needs to be monitored. Since the constant airow causes
a certain drying eect, a slightly moist grinding stock with about 20 % residual
moisture can be fed in without the sieve clogging up.
2.4 High-performance cyclone separator
The FRITSCH high-performance Cyclone separator completely made of stainless
steel 304 is parcularly indispensable in the analycal sector and in the food-
stus and pharmaceucal industries, and for the processing of heterogeneous
mixtures of material, e.g. in the cement industry. Due to its high surface quality,
it oers enhanced resistance to corrosive media such as alkalis and acids and is
especially easy to clean with a wide range of possible cleaning agents, without
leaving any residues. The comminuted sample is fed into the screwed-on col-
lecng vessel or into a sample bole in which it can also be transported and
stored. In addion, it can be completely dismantled, emped, rinsed, and steri-
lised, and thus oers absolute protecon against cross-contaminaon.

Installaon
4Installaon
CAUTION
Hazard of pping during transport
Raise the combinaon by means of a crane or pallet truck.
Make sure that the combinaon does not start to swing and is
lied straight up.
The combinaon PULVERISETTE 19 and PULVERISETTE 19 large
is delivered completely pre-assembled on the frame.
The frame is screwed onto a palee. Loosen the screws and li the combinaon
o of the palee by means of a crane or pallet truck.
4.1 Assembly of high-performance cyclone separator
Connect the high-performance cyclone separator to the PULVERISETTE 19 as
described in the assembly instrucons of the cyclone separator.
4.2 Electrical connecon
Two 400 V three-phase current connecons and a 230 V connecon are needed
to connect the combinaon.
4.3 Inial switching on
Make sure that the cung mills are closed without rotors. Switch the instru-
ments on.
11
Using the device
5 Using the device
All preparatory tasks such as inserng the cung tool, sieve cassees and seng
of the knife gap widths can be found in the operang manual of the instruments.
5.1 Seng the sample divider
The rotang housing of the sample divider features 6 bore holes which can be
closed with plasc caps.
The separaon rao can be set by closing or opening the bore holes. The more
openings that are closed, the less grinding stock will arrive at the ne grinder
PULVERISETTE 19. The proper separaon needs to be determined individually by
the user.
all open 1:3.7
1 closed 1:4.5
2 closed 1:5.6
3 closed 1:7.5
4 closed 1:11.2
5 closed 1:22.5
The speed can be set by a dial on the control housing. The speed has to be fast
enough so that no grinding stock remains on the sheet metal cover. It depends on
the parcle feed size and the density of the sample material.
5.2 Emptying the sample divider
A large rectangular container is placed in front to the PULVERISETTE 19 for
emptying the sample divider.
Loosen the knurled screw of the pipe underneath the sample divider and push
this pipe all the way down.
12
Using the device
Open the side closures on the sample divider housing. Fold the lower part of the
sample divider housing down and take o the sheet metal cover.
The grinding stock can now be brushed into the container.
13
Cleaning
6 Cleaning
For cleaning the system, it is recommended to employ a vacuum cleaner with
various nozzles, in parcular a small nozzle for cleaning dicult to reach places,
and brushes of various sizes. The dirt is brushed into the vacuum cleaner nozzle
thereby. Places that cannot be reached can be blown out using compressed air.
If moist grinding stock is being processed or very ne grinding stock is in the
instrument, it is recommended to use a wiping cloth soaked with alcohol for the
cleaning. Moisture should always be rubbed down with an alcohol cloth due to
the risk of corrosion.
For cleaning of the individual instruments, refer to the device-specic operang
manuals.

Disposal
7 Disposal
It is hereby conrmed that FRITSCH has implemented the direcve 2002/95/EC of
the European Parliament and Council from 27th January 2003 for the limitaon
of the use of certain dangerous substances in electrical and electronic devices.
FRITSCH has registered the following categories according to the German elec-
trical and electronic equipment act, secon 6, paragraph 1, clause 1 and secon
17, paragraphs 1 and 2:
Mills and devices for the preparaon of samples have been registered under
category 6 for electrical and electronic tools (except for large staonary industrial
tools).
Analycal devices have been registered under category 9, monitoring and control
instruments.
It has been accepted that FRITSCH is operang only in the business-to-business
area. The German registraon number for FRITSCH is WEEE reg. no. DE 60198769
FRITSCH WEEE coverage
Since the registraon of FRITSCH is classied for bilateral transacons, no legal
recycling or disposal process is described. FRITSCH is not obliged to take back
used FRITSCH devices.
FRITSCH declares it is prepared to take back used FRITSCH devices for recycling or
disposal free of charge whenever a new device is purchased. The used FRITSCH
device must be delivered free of charge to a FRITSCH establishment.
In all other cases FRITSCH takes back used FRITSCH devices for recycling or
disposal only against payment.
