the state-of-the-art technological standards, established technical safety codes and
EC Machinery Directive.
Cassette-GekoÂŪ fan coil units are reliable in operation and satisfy strict quality stan-
dards.
Their technical quality level meets the high user requirements for easy maintenance
and servicing.
Nevertheless, each unit may pose a risk to the user or third parties, may break down
or cause other damage. Safety regulations must therefore be observed at all times.
The operation and maintenance of the unit must therefore be conducted in keeping
with regulations and user standards; failure to follow them could result in death, serious
injury, environmental damage and/or other damage

When installing or repairing fan coil units on-site, observe the following instructions:
â€ĒDuring work wear suitable protective clothing, protective footwear, gloves and safety
goggles etc.
â€ĒAvoid sources of open flames, especially lit cigarettes. Sources of open flames and
smoking in the proximity of the unit are prohibited. Filters, especially used ones, are
easily flammable.
When working with the power supply:
For all types of work:
Electric shocks from hazardous high voltage will lead to death or serious in-
jury!
â€ĒDisconnect the unit from the power supply and ensure that the power cannot be
switched back on.
â€ĒEnsure that the unit is de-energised and isolated, grounded and short-circuited.
Cover the unit or protect it from voltage from other appliances.
Risk of scalding!
Before performing work on the valves or media inlet or outlet connections, close
the heating medium inlet to prevent scalding. Do not commence work until the
heating medium in the unit has cooled down.

1.7 Use for intended purpose
Cassette-Geko fan coil units are used in a standard environment according to CSN EN
60 721-3-3 and are intended exclusively for heating, filtration and cooling. Water or a
water/glycol solution may be used as a medium (max. solution concentration 50%).
The unit must be used pursuant to Commission Regulation (EU) No. 1253/2014.
The following limiting values apply for use with Cu/Al heat exchangers:
Cassette-Geko fan coil units may only be used indoors.
Cassette-Geko fan coil units are suitable for ceiling mounting.
ATTENTION
Damage to the environment!
Do not pollute the environment with coolants and oils. Dispose of them in
accordance with local regulations and in an ecologically friendly manner. Mixtures
of ethylene and propylene glycol are regarded as substances hazardous to water,
categorized in water hazard class 1 (slightly hazardous to water). The same
applies to water mixtures.
Damage to the unit!
The mounting position of the unit should prevent dripping or splashing water from
entering the unit’s interior wiring and damaging the unit.

Tab. 1-1: Threshold values for media in closed cooling and heating circuits
Damage to the unit!
In open systems (e.g. when using well water, observe the threshold values from
tab. 1-1) it is also necessary to remove deposits from the water using a supply line
filter. Otherwise, there is a risk of corrosion, resulting in possible damage to or
destruction of the heat exchanger.
The unit must also be protected from dust and other substances which, in contact
with water, will start an acidic or alkaline reaction (aluminium corrosion).
Especially in Cassette-Geko units with a cooling function the intake of waste air from
the kitchen containing organic acids such as vinegar must be prevented. Also, the
room in which the unit is installed must not be cleaned using cleaners containing
vinegar or other organic acids.
Acids may cause the corrosion of aluminium louvres!

– with an outside air (outdoor air) supply
– in explosive environments
– in humid areas,
– In excessively dust-laden areas containing, for example in areas where drywalling
is being carried out or there is construction dust, or in zones with a corrosive env-
ironment.
1.9 Safety standards and regulations
When carrying out the installation, electrical connection, maintenance and service of
Cassette-GekoÂŪ units, be sure to observe all local safety regulations and standards
and generally established technical practices.

a cooling function at a later date.
Note!
The manufacturer is not liable for any subsequent damage caused improper
installation or use. The liability is always with the supplier, installer or user.
Proper use includes compliance with this manual with respect both to the mounting
and installation of the unit and the inspection and maintenance conditions described
herein.
Damage to health and property!
When installing the unit it is necessary to observe safe distances from flammable
materials according to CSN EN13501-1, (i.e. for Class A2 at least 150 mm, other
classes B, C, D, E, F (flammable and slightly flammable materials) at least 300 mm).
A minimum distance of 1,000 mm from objects of all classes must be maintained in

Some of the unit parts indicated in fig. 2-1are described in detail below.
Air intake grille (Pos. 1)
The removable air intake grille serves as protection against contact with the fan.
Filter (Pos. 2)
The filter treats intake air. It is regenerative.
Design panel with louvres (Pos. 3)
The front design panel acts as a visual end piece between the unit and the suspended
ceiling. The directional louvres control the direction of the flow of air being discharged.
Main condensate drain pan (Pos. 4)
The main condensate drain pan collects condensate generated inside the Cassette-
Geko unit during cooling and at the same time acts as an integrated fan air intake
nozzle.
Radial fan (Pos. 5)
The radial fan consists of a single radial impeller and features quiet, maintenance-free
ball bearings. The fan motors are available with speed stages (AC) or with variable
speed control (EC), with motor protection provided through integrated (optionally
wired) thermal contacts or, in EC motors, with an interlocking device.
IP44 rating and Class B insulation.
Heat exchanger (optionally incl. electric heating) (Pos. 6)
The heat exchanger for chilled and warm water has a connection fitting with an RÂ―" or
R3/4" female thread, air vent valves and drain valves. Depending on the type of appli-
cation the heat exchanger is equipped with two connection fittings (inlet and outlet in a
2-pipe system) or four connection fittings (2 inlets and 2 outlets in a 4-pipe system).
Unit casing (Pos. 7)
The unit casing is made of galvanized sheet steel and features an external layer of
insulation (fleece).
Electrical enclosure (Pos. 8)
Depending on the version the galvanized sheet steel electrical enclosure contains:
– one or more circuit boards
– contactors / relays
– two manual and automatic thermal fuses (E-heating)
– one or two terminal blocks.
Lateral condensate drain pan (Pos. 9)
The lateral condensate drain pan is used to collect condensate from valves and fittings
and includes a drain for the condensate to flow into the main condensate drain pan.
Mounting angle brackets (Pos. 10)
The mounting angle brackets are fitted on the side of the unit casing. The fork-like
shape facilitates quick mounting on a suitable ceiling suspension bracket.
Primary air connection opening (Pos. 11)
At this point it is possible to connect a standard rectangular primary air supply duct to
the casing.
External outlet air duct opening (Pos. 12)
At this point it is possible to connect an external air outlet to the unit casing to a more
remote point using a circular air duct.
Condensate pump (Pos. 13)
The condensate pump transports the condensate collected in the main condensate
drain pan to collection and drainage points located higher up.

2.2 Material specifications
2.3 Operational limits
2.3.1 Ambient conditions
The air temperature within the intake area of a Cassette-GekoÂŪ unit (an the centre of
the design panel) must be kept between 6° and 40 °C; higher or lower temperatures
are not permitted. The unit can only be used in areas with relative humidity of between
15% and 65%.
The table shows the operational limits for the various operational modes.
TR is room temperature; TR is the difference between room temperature and the tem-
perature of air discharged by the unit, r.h. is relative air humidity in relation to room tem-
perature.
In the limit value range, the opening of the directional air louvres should be approx. 25
mm and not be used for a period of time longer than (> 3 h) as fluctuations in tempe-
rature or humidity will cause a condensation build-up on the casing or the louvres.
