A protecting tube is installed for the electrical cable of the control
exhaust valve KSOM when the ventilation ducts are mounted. The
protecting tube is brought by the side of the duct to the same lev-
el with ceiling or wall surface (Fig. 1).
If no protecting tube is used, a cable satisfying the requirements
is installed, with which the cable attached to the valve can be ex-
tended. In this case, a space must be reserved for the additional
cable.
The KSOM valve is delivered with a fixedly installed 1 m cable. This
requires placing the connecting box close enough to the valve.
The control exhaust valve is installed in the duct as shown in Fig.
When replacing an old valve with the control exhaust valve KSOM, remove the old mounting frame. The installation is then carried out as described
above. The electrical cable can also be mounted as a surface mounting by passing it over a groove in the extension ring (2, Fig. 2) over the wall or
ceiling surface to the connection box, e.g. covered with a cable channel.
When installing KSOM, be particularly careful with the humidity sensor inside the valve. The sensor is a delicate component and may me damaged if
handled carelessly.
The control exhaust valve is not designed to be used in the sauna room.

1) Push the mounting frame (3) through the extension ring (2).
2) Pass the electrical cable of the valve through the inlet rubber gasket in the mounting frame. The extension ring must be placed between the elec-
trical cable and the mounting frame flange.
3) Pass the electrical cable through the protecting tube to the connection box and push the package mounting frame / extension ring (2) & (3) to the
duct (1) and fasten. When fastening the frame to the duct with rivets, the rivet must be placed behind the thread of the frame so that it does not
hinder the rotating of the valve in place.
4) Pass the additional cable into the duct and rotate the valve into the mounting frame. When rotating the valve, MAKE SURE THE CABLE IS NOT
SQUEEZED BETWEEN THE VALVE AND THE MOUNTING FRAME. This might cause damage to the cable. The valve is rotated into the frame by first
placing the valve hanger end between the cable penetration and the end of the frame thread (*, Fig. 2.)

The transformer shall be installed according to the installation standards.
The supply voltage 24 VAC of the valve (rated power 12 VA / 500 mA), protection voltage SELV shall be connected to the white and green wires of the
cable delivered with the valve (Fig. 3), and the switch used for controlling to the red/yellow and black/brown ones. If KSOM is controlled only with a
humidity sensor integrated in the valve, the control wires (red/yellow and black/brown) are left unconnected. If desired, an external control (switch)
can be connected to KSOM. The internal humidity sensor will still remain as the determining control. The internal sensor can be disabled by turning
the switch 3 into OFF position, enabling only external control.
After connecting the supply voltage, the valve performs a reference run towards the mechanical limit and a warm-up run (open-closed). The valve
stops after this at the position determined by the control. If the supply voltage is interrupted, the valve holds its position and performs the above men-
tioned reference and warm-up runs after the supply voltage has returned.

The basic air change rate is adjusted by changing adjustment position s. The basic adjustment is made by turning the screw spindle, not the cover,
by hand. The adjustment position is locked by tightening the hose clamp carefully. The desired forced exhaust position is set by choosing the valve
running distance (5, 10, 15, 20 mm). This is done with dip switches on the circuit board according to following table NOTE! If the adjustment is changed
while the product is receiving voltage, the new adjustment is not valid until the voltage has been cut off and then switched on.
The running distance must be chosen so that the valve in its open po-
sition does not exceed the adjustment position + 10 mm. The air flow is
determined according to the diagram below, the pressure difference at
the valve and the adjustment position (Δpm and s, Fig. 4).

The properties of the product include a warm-up run every 24 hours, which the valve performs independently of the user.
The valve is equipped with overheating protection which stops valve operation for two minutes due to a continuous back-and-forth run.

CLEANING AND SERVICE
Wipe the dirty valve clean with a damp cloth (Fig. 1.) Do not change the
adjustment position when cleaning and detaching the valve.
Since KSOM is designed for dirty/damp premises, it requires a regular
inspection (min. once every 2 years) to detect dirt formation.
Detach the valve for inspection from the mounting frame by turning it
counter-clockwise (Fig. 2.). Clean the circuit board, humidity sensor and
metal/plastic parts, if they seem dirty.
Disconnect the supply voltage of the valve for cleaning. If it is not possi-
ble to disconnect the supply voltage from the transformer / distribution
board, disconnect the cable connector on the circuit board. Remove
possible dust/dirt from the circuit board and humidity sensor e.g. with a
vacuum cleaner or a compressed-air spray.
Connect the supply voltage after the cleaning (the valve performs a
warm-up run after connecting the voltage) and fasten the valve back in
the frame by turning it clockwise.
The circuit board is delicate electronic component, and it must be handled
with caution.
