When it is desired to remove or replace the enclosure cover, the following recommended procedures should be observed.
Removing the enclosure cover:
Swing back locking attachment on the V-Band. Loosen nut on the T-Bolt of the V-Band to permit the coupling latch to be disengaged from the head of
the T-Bolt. Pull out coupling latch from the head of the T-Bolt. Spread V-Band and place over the enclosure base, thereby freeing the cover for removal.
Remove enclosure cover and place on a at stable surface with the opening up.
CAUTION: Avoid any damage to ange surfaces as this could aect enclosure’s suitability for use in hazardous atmospheres.
Replace the enclosure cover:
Before replacing enclosure cover, clean base and cover anges with a soft cloth. Looking at the cover front in the upright position (nameplate in
readable position), place operating handle in the downward or “OFF” position. Leave in “OFF” position for maximum safety. Align ribs inside the cover
with positioning channels on the mounting plates.
CAUTION: The upright position of the cover and base plus proper positioning channel alignment are very important. Failure to observe these directions may cause
over jamming and equipment damage.
Slide cover toward base until the positioning pins in the base nearly enter the holes in the cover. At this point, when a disconnecting means is provided,
the external operating handle should be lifted slightly so that the circuit breaker operating slide mechanism becomes engaged with the roller. Continue
sliding cover toward base until the base and cover anges meet. Install V-Band over the anged joint and slide the T-Bolt into the coupling latch with
the tightening nut to the right.
CAUTION: Tighten the 3/8" (9.5) x 16 T-Bolt nut securely to provide proper enclosure sealing. NOTE: As a minimum, the helical spring lock washer beneath the nut
must be fully compressed (65 lb-in/7.3 N•m). The maximum torque applied to the nut should not exceed 125 lb-in/14.1 N•m.
Press locking attachment over the bolt and nut, and insert lock (when used) into the hole in the locking attachment.
WARNING: To prevent electrical shock, disconnect from power source before installing or servicing. Keep free from contaminants.
Installation, adjustments, putting into service, use, assembly, disassembly, and maintenance shall be carried out by suitably trained personnel in accordance with applicable code of practice. In case of malfunction or
damage, no attempts at repair should be made. The product should be returned to the manufacturer for repair. Do not dismantle the product.

Wiring:
A number of openings are provided in the base for power and control wiring as well as for accessories. See illustrations above. Location and quantity
of the various accessories will determine the openings available for wiring.
Openings 1 and 4 are supplied with 1-1/2" (38 mm) pipe plugs while openings 2 and 5 are supplied with 3/4" (19 mm) pipe plugs.
Openings 3 and 6 are shipped with red plastic cap plugs. These openings are generally used for power and control wiring. If not used they must be
closed with 1-1/2" (38 mm) pipe plugs.
Wiring of electrical equipment or any other accessory is to be done in accordance with instructions furnished with the equipment and applicable
codes and laws.
To comply with the NEC, CEC, IEC and ATEX Directives and to prevent the passage of gasses, vapors or ames from one portion of the electrical
installation to another, conduit openings must be sealed with an appropriate sealing tting. For use with metallic conduit only.
Mounting of a Unilock enclosure:
Mounting straps are provided on the rear of the enclosure for ease of mounting. The Unilock enclosure may be mounted to any solid surface capable
of supporting it’s weight by using 3/8" (9.5 mm) diameter screws or bolts.
Exterior dimensions of the Unilock enclosure are shown on sheet 3.
