The MCL system is the easy, powerful and reliable choice for automated,
on-demand maintenance inspections of your sorter. This vision-based system is easily
installed onto your existing sorter frame and works stand-alone, without interfering with
the sorter’s control system.
Increase sorter availability
Using the MCL for daily maintenance check inspec-
tions enables you to quickly and easily detect any
potential problems with the running wheels or the tilt
wheels on your sorter. The MCL system performs its
inspections on the sorter without stopping normal
sorting activity.
Easy maintenance reports
The maintenance needs of the sorter are shown in an
easy to understand way in the operator interface and
can also be saved as CSV and Excel les on a PC for
further processing and analysis.
Minimized power consumption and re hazards
Correct height position of sorter carts ensures
minimum power consumption of your sorter line.
Correct height also means that no sparks are
generated due to contact between sorter cart and
linear motors.
Decrease costly emergency stops
This pro-active maintenance check allows you to plan
maintenance work and to minimize unexpected and
uncontrolled emergency stops.
This results in lower total maintenance costs and
higher sorting throughput!
Automated maintenance check
more efciency and safety for your plant

Applications
Any sorter with mechanical tilt wheels and binary
coded ID tag can be equipped with the maintenance
check system.
Sorter cart ID read
(1)
An Inspector vision sensor in combination with a back light detects
which punch-out plates are present on the binary coded ID tag on
each cart in the sorter line. This binary information is decoded into
a decimal ID number and put into the maintenance report.
Tilt wheel inspection
(2)
Two Inspector vision sensors check the two tilt wheels for pres-
ence, diameter and roundness and report OK, fail or not found.
Running wheel and sorter cart height measurement
(3)
Acquiring a 3D shape of the base plate of the sorter cart from
below indicates if the running wheels are broken or worn out.
The maintenance check system uses an IVC-3D smart camera to
measure the sorter cart height above the inductive linear motors
on 6 different positions. These positions are then sent to the PC
application to be compared with the height values of the taught-in
reference sorter carts.
