Main & Auxiliary Definitions
Figure 1 (opposite) shows the front and rear panel connections as they appear on the
DXR2 receiver.
The front panel is fitted with LEDs to indicate power, main and auxiliary link and video
status. When illuminated green, the link LEDs indicate that a good connection exists
between the DXR2 receiver and the transmitter. The video LEDs also illuminate green to
indicate whether a video signal is present on each of the links.
To make installation easier these LEDs are duplicated on the rear panel RJ45 connectors,
where the green represents the link and amber the video.
It is important to understand that this receiver is capable of supporting dual screen video
systems.
The main link between a remote transmitter and the DXR2 receiver carries keyboard,
mouse, USB, RS232, audio and video signals. It also carries link optimisation data
between the transmitter and receiver. If you are using the DXR2 receiver with a single
monitor this is the connection to use.
The auxiliary link can be used only to connect a second video head from the remote
location to the receiver. The system will not function unless the main link is in place and
connected correctly.

Overview
The DXR2 is a dual headed receiver unit designed to be used with the Amulet Hotkey
DX- Series of analogue KVM extenders.
As part of a remote PC system it provides the interface between the user interface
(keyboard, mouse etc) and the remotely located computer, up to 200m* away. The link
between the DXR2 and the associated DX series transmitter is made with Category 5,
5e or 6 twisted pair cable.
A fully automatic compensation and de-skew system built into the receiver optimises the
video drive characteristics of the system to achieve the best performance possible over
the length of cable in use.

* NOTE: If you wish to use the DX system beyond this distance please set DIP
switch 1 to the “ON” position disabling USB.

Connection Notes
At the computer:
1 Ensure the computer is powered off.
2 Connect the DXS2 receiver to the remote computer using the illustration above as a guide. If in any doubt, refer to
the full User Manual for this product.
3 Attach the power supply and power up the DXS2 unit. The link and video LEDs should be off. The power LED will flash
amber then illuminate green.
At the desktop:
4 Connect your desktop peripherals (keyboard, mouse etc.) to the DXR2 receiver using the illustration above as a
guide. If in any doubt, refer to the full User Manual for this product.
5 Power up the DXR2.
Interconnecting cable:
6 Connect the DXS2 and DXR2 together using the recommended twisted pair cabling keeping the number of patches
to an absolute minimum. For the system to operate correctly the 'Main' link must always be connected. To support
dual video heads connect up the 'Aux' link using a second twisted pair cable.
If the cables are connected correctly the link status LEDs on both the DXS2 and DXR2 will illuminate green.
7 Power up the back racked computer. The video LED(s) on both the DXS2 and DXR2 should now illuminate. You
should also see a picture on the monitor(s) attached to the DXR2 and be able to use your system, just as you would a
conventional desktop computer.
NOTE: For a brief period, a flashing interference pattern will appear on screen. This is part of the system set-up and occurs after
power up.
Do not cross connect the Main and Aux
links.
