recording!
USB Connector - Turn OFF before connecting
to USB on your PC or you may lose your
recordings!
Light may blink during charging and access.
Charge the Jooney Bug fully before your rst use.
To charge, put SWITCH in OFF position.
Insert Jooney Bug into the USB port of your PC. Your PC will need to remain ON during
charging. When you rst plug in your Jooney Bug, your PC may install a standard driver.
is is normal.
Charge for 5 hours the rst time. en normally charge for 3-5 hours.
RECORDING
To RECORD, put the SWITCH in the ON position.
Your Jooney Bug is Voice Activated and will record automatically for up to 30 hours of
battery life, or 45 hours of recording time. (For models aer Jan 2013.) Time is approximate
and will vary according to your use. (Time for 4GB models is 15 hours battery life.)
REMEMBER - the light on the Jooney Bug does NOT light up during recording.
To STOP RECORDING, put the SWITCH in the OFF position.
REMEMBER - You must turn Jooney Bug OFF before using with your PC, or your
recordings may be erased.
YOUR RECORDINGS
e Jooney Bug creates 1 audio le each time you switch it on, then o. It will automatically
pause your recording when there is no sound around it. is saves you time and memory
and you will only record when the Jooney Bug hears conversation.
Your recordings are saved as WAV les.
TROUBLESHOOTING
Were sorry to hear that youre having some trouble with your Jooney Bug ash drive recorder.
Here are some tips that may help x your issue:
Make sure the device is in the OFF position when plugging it into your computers USB
port.
If it is not responding, with the device unplugged from your PC, turn it ON, talk into it for
about 10 seconds, then turn it o. Wait 10 seconds, then plug it into your PC.
Make sure you are plugging the device directly into your PC, and do not use a USB Hub.
If these suggestions do not work, you can try leaving the device ON until the battery runs
out. en, turn OFF, and plug into your PC and charge for 3 hours. en try using the
device.
NOTE: If your computer goes to “Sleep” as part of its energy savings plan, your device may
not charge. Be sure your PC is on during charging.
MOVING your les from the Jooney Bug.
For best operation of your Jooney Bug, you should MOVE your les, NOT COPY them.
ere is a dierence that could aect how your Jooney Bug performs over time.
For a Windows PC, go to the les on the Jooney Bug. RIGHT-CLICK on the le, and drag to
your Storage Folder on your PC. Let go and choose the option MOVE. is will MOVE the
le from your Jooney Bug to your storage location, leaving nothing behind on your Jooney
Bug.
For Mac, go to the les on the Jooney Bug, hold the CMD button and click on the le, and
drag to your storage folder. is will MOVE your les, rather than COPY, and leave nothing
behind on your Jooney Bug.
DELETING FILES from your Jooney Bug (MAC USERS TAKE NOTE!!!).
For best operation of your Jooney Bug, MOVE your les rather than COPY.
DELETING les from your Jooney Bug will require you to EMPTY your Recycle Bin or
Trash Can to properly remove the les from your Jooney Bug. Failure to EMPTY your
bins may leave hidden trash les on your device, lling up the memory. If you do need to
DELETE les, please do so properly:
NOTE: DO NOT REMOVE your Jooney Bug from your PC or Mac until you have
completed all the steps below.
On PC, highlight the les on your Jooney Bug you wish to remove, then DELETE normally.
Now, with the Jooney Bug still plugged in, go to your Recycle Bin and EMPTY it. is will
remove ALL les in your Recycle Bin, including les that were NOT on your Jooney Bug.
Proceed carefully! ese les will be gone forever.

On Mac, highlight the les on your Jooney Bug you wish to remove, then DELETE
normally. Now, with the Jooney Bug still plugged in, go to your Trash Can and EMPTY
it. is will remove ALL les in your Trash Can, including les that were NOT on your
Jooney Bug. Proceed carefully! ese les will be gone forever.
REMOVING YOUR JOONEY BUG from your computer
For best operation of your Jooney Bug, be sure to remove or “eject” it properly from
your PC or Mac BEFORE you unplug it from the USB port. is will let your computer
properly close its connection to the Jooney Bug.
On Windows, choose MY COMPUTER. Located your Jooney Bug, shown as a
Removable Drive, such as Drive E: or Drive F: RIGHT-CLICK on the drive, and choose
EJECT. Wait until Windows says it is safe to remove your device, then unplug.
On Mac, your Jooney Bug will appear on your Desktop as a Drive. CTRL-CLICK on the
icon, and choose EJECT. You may then remove the Jooney Bug from your Mac.
FORMATTING?
If your Jooney Bug IS responding, but is not recording properly, you might try
FORMATTING the device. is will refresh the drive, and erase any hidden les that may
be using up space. CAUTION! While this is a relatively simple process, please do carefully.

Turn o the Jooney Bug.
Insert into your PC.
On a Windows PC, click on MY COMPUTER. Your Jooney Bug will show as a
Removable Disk, such as Drive E: or F: Choose the proper drive letter, and RIGHT-CLICK.
A list of options will appear. Choose FORMAT. Please do NOT change any options shown
here. Just click START and within a few minutes your Jooney Bug will be completely empty
of any les.

Turn o the Jooney Bug.
Insert into your Mac.
Your Jooney Bug should appear in your FINDER as an external device.
Go to APPLICATIONS.
Go to the UTILITIES FOLDER.
Click on DISK UTILITY
PROCEED CAREFULLY. If you choose the wrong device, you may FORMAT the
wrong drive and lose all your info.
On the le-side of DISK UTILITY, nd the Jooney Bug. It shows as an external
device, such as “NONAME.
Click on that device.
Choose the ERASE tab.
IMPORTANT: Under VOLUME FORMAT, choose MS-DOS le system.
Click ERASE.
Please wait until the format is complete.
When complete, EJECT your Jooney Bug from Mac and you can begin recording!
RECOMMENDED SOFTWARE
Your Windows PC or Mac has built-in soware that will play most of the les created by devices
like yours. However, if you are having problems playing your les, please download and try
these programs.
ere are lots of dierent soware packages available. However, we do recommended these
basic programs that will suit most people. is soware is free and can be downloaded directly
from the links below. You can nd support and tutorials for these programs on their respective
websites. SafetyBasement can not provide soware support for these programs

particular virus scanner. While most users report no issues using this soware, we can not be
responsible for any damages caused by this soware. Please proceed carefully. Back up your PC
before installing any new soware.
