e Clothes Hook Camera must have an SD card inserted to work properly. It will accept a
Micro SD card of up to 16 GB in size.
1. e SD card slot is located on the back of the device.
2. Gently place the SD card into the slot as shown, with the gold connections facing DOWN
and the printing facing UP.
3. Gently push the SD card into the slot. It will click into place. DO NOT FORCE the SD card
into place. If there is any resistance, remove the SD card. Check the position of the card, and
try again. An incorrectly inserted card may damage your device and void your warranty.
4. When the SD card is properly inserted, it will look like the 2nd picture.

You may need 1 le from our website to set the time and date on your device. However, this
device does automatically create a time le for you, so please check your device to see if the
time.txt le is already there.
1. Go to www.SafetyBasement.com
2. Search for item SB-HDV996
3. Click on the Photo of the Clothes Hook Camera to get to the full product page.
4. Scroll down a bit, under the photos of the device, and click on the tab TECH SUPPORT.
5. Right-click on the le link and save the TIME.TXT le to your desktop. We will use this
shortly.
BEFORE FIRST USE - FILES
No other les are required for use of your Clothes Hook Camera with Windows or Mac PCs. It
uses standard drivers that are already installed on your computer.
Please refer to the last page of this manual for suggested soware for playback of your media
les.
Please fully charge your Clothes Hook Camera before rst use.
1. Insert one end of the included USB cable into the USB port on the device.
2. Please be sure that the device is set to OFF.
3. Insert the other end of the USB cable into a free USB port on your PC. Please plug it
directly into the PC and do not use a Hub. Your device may not work properly with a Hub.
4. Charge for several hours before putting your device into place.
5. NOTE: Your device may need several cycles of use and charging before it achieves its best
battery life.

SETTING TIME & DATE
When your device is charged, you can set the time and date. Note - please wait until the
charging is done to do this step, or the time you set will be o by several hours.
When you attached your device to your computer, it should have appeared as an external drive
or opened the device. You should see a Folder named VIDEO.
You should also see a TIME.TXT le. If you do not see this le, COPY that le you
downloaded from our website, and PASTE it BELOW the VIDEO folder. Do not paste it inside
the Video folder. e TIME.TXT le must be outside the Video folder for it to work.
1. OPEN the TIME.TXT le using a simple text editor on your PC.
For Windows, use NOTEPAD. In Mac OS X, use TEXTEDIT.
2. In this le is the date and time. Please adjust the numbers to the current date and time. Do
not make any changes to the punctuation or space included in this number.
For example, if you are changing the date and time to 3:30pm on Feb 22, 2013, the le will
look like this:
2013-02-22 15:30:00
Please note the space, the punctuation and the 24 hour clock.

3. Save this le.
4. Unplug the device from your PC.
5. Turn the device Power Switch ON.
6. Now, hold the Front Button down for about 2 seconds. e status light on the side will be a
steady green when the device is on.
7. Your device time and date is now set.
Later, when reviewing your les, if you do not see a date stamp, or the date stamp is incorrect,
repeat the steps above. Be sure to check the punctuation and format of the date and time, it
must be correct.

RECORDING VIDEO
NOTE: Use the included hanging plate to mount your device to a wall or door.
1. Before sliding the device on to the mounting plate, be sure that you have put the power
switch into the ON position.
2. When in place, hold the Front Button down for about 2 seconds, until the status light is a
steady Green. Your camera is now in Stand By mode.

RECORDING VIDEO
1. To record a single video, press the Front Button one time. e status light will blink one
time, then go dark. e device will record until the Front Button is pressed again, or the
battery runs low. It will record 30 minutes in a video, then start a new le.
2. To stop recording, press the Front Button again. e status light will be a steady green. It is
back in Stand By mode.

RECORDING A SINGLE VIDEO
1. To record in Motion Detection Mode, quickly press the Front Button two times - click click.
e status light will blink 3 times, then go dark. You are now in Motion Detection Mode.
2. e device will record a 5 minute video each time motion is detected, until the battery runs
low or you manually turn o this mode.
3. To turn o Motion Detectiom Mode, press the Front Button 1 time. e status light will be a
steady green. Your device is now in Stand By Mode.

NOTE: Please put the device into Stand By mode to save your les BEFORE turning it OFF.
Failure to do so could cause your current le to NOT save. Stand By, then Power O.

WINDOWS - RETRIEVE YOUR FILES
1. Device must be OFF before connecting to your PC.
2. Plug one end of USB cable into device.
3. Plug the other end into a free USB port on your PC. Do not use a USB hub.
4. Please wait until Windows recognizes your device. is may take several seconds. Note: the
rst time you connect your device, Windows may install standard drivers. is is normal.
5. Access your device as you would any standard Flash Drive.
6. COPY your les from the device to a folder on your PC. Your recordings are in the VIDEO
folder.
7. You may now highlight and DELETE the les from your device.
8. Be sure to properly EJECT your device from Windows before unplugging it.
MAC OS X - RETRIEVE YOUR FILES
1. Device must be OFF before connecting to your Mac.
2. Plug one end of USB cable into device.
3. Plug the other end into a free USB port on your Mac. Do not use a USB hub.
4. Please wait until Mac recognizes your device. is may take several seconds. It will mount as
a Device in your FINDER.
5. Access device as you would any standard FLASH DRIVE.
6. SPECIAL NOTES TO MAC USERS!
7. To properly save your les to your Mac, MOVE your les, rather than copy. Your recorded
les are in the VIDEO folder.
8. Create a folder on your Mac.
9. Highlight the les on the device.
10. CMD CLICK and drag the les to your folder. Let go and choose MOVE.
11. To properly empty your device on Mac, be sure to Empty your Trash Can before ejecting the
device.
12. Be sure to properly EJECT your device from Mac before unplugging it.
NOTE: Please copy your les to your PC for smoother playback. For larger les, you may nd it
faster to remove the SD card and plug it directly into an SD card reader.
