BEFORE USE - CHARGE IT
Use the included wall adapter and USB cable to charge your DVR80.
1. Insert the USB cable into the wall adapter.
2. Plug the wall adapter into power.
3. Plug the small end of the USB cable into your DVR80.
4. e LED status light will be RED during charging. It will go dark when your camera
is fully charged.
You may also use your PC to charge your camera. Plug the USB cable directly into your
PC, do not use a hub. Please note that your PC may install some standard drivers the
rst time you plug in your camera. is is normal.

SD CARD
Your camera requires a micro SD memory
card, up to 32 GB in size.
Your card is installed with the gold connectors
facing UP, as shown in the photo.
Gently insert the SD card into the SD card slot.
Do not force the card into place.
e card shown is halfway in.
Push the card fully into place. It will “click” into
place.
To remove the card, push in gently, and the
card will “click out” and can be removed.
For best performance, we recommend using a
CLASS 10 micro SD card.

CONNECT CAMERA TO PC
To do the next few steps, youll need to connect
your camera to your PC.
Be sure that you have installed your SD card
rst.
Connect the USB cable to the port on the
camera.
Plug the other end of the USB cable directly
into your PC. Do not use a Hub.
Now, slide the power switch UP to the ON
position. In a few moments, your PC will
connect to your camera.
e rst time you connect, your PC may install
some standard drivers. is is normal.
NOTE: If your PC does not recognize your
camera, please disconnect and try again
BEFORE installing the available camera
drivers.

DOWNLOADS
Go to the Product Page for your device on
SafetyBasement.com and locate the red
TECH SUPPORT tab, as shown in this
example.
You will nd the latest manual here, along
with any les you may need.
Right-click on the TIME.TXT le, and
choose SAVE LINK AS, or SAVE TARGET
AS...
Save the le to your camera, as shown in
this example.
Note: some computers may NOT show the
.txt” in the lename. is is normal.
Your Drive Letter may vary.
Do NOT save the Time le inside the
DCIM folder.

NOTE! You may not need the les located on our site to use your DVR80. Your camera
should work automatically with Windows 7 and 8 without installing any drivers. You
should try the camera rst BEFORE trying to install any drivers.
e TIME.TXT le is generated when the camera is powered on, and should be located
on your camera now.
Please skip this section unless your camera does NOT connect to your PC or the time le
is missing.

SET THE TIMESTAMP
When your camera connects to your PC,
it will appear as an External Drive or
Removable Disk, such as shown here.
You should see the TIME.TXT le, which is
generated by the camera automatically. You
will need to edit this le to show the correct
date and time.
DOUBLE-CLICK the TIME.TXT le.
A standard text editor should open the le.
In Windows, this would be Notepad. On a
Mac, it would be TextEdit.
Carefully edit the time shown to the correct
YEAR/MONTH/DAY/
HOUR:MINUTE:SECONDS;Y
e punctuation must be exact for the time
le to work properly. ere are NO spaces.
Use “Y” at the end to activate the
timestamp on your videos. Use “N” to
disable the onscreen timestamp.
SAVE this le. Exit your text editor.
You must activate the camera for the new
time to be set.
Right-click on the drive letter and EJECT.
Turn OFF your camera. Unplug from the
USB cable. Turn the camera back on. Your
time is now set.
If the time is not correct or set in your
videos, please repeat these steps.

RECORDING VIDEO
To record video;
1. Slide the power switch UP to the ON position. e status
light will turn blue. You are now in Stand By Mode.
2. Press the grey RECORD button at the top of the camera.
e status light will blink green. You are now recording
video.
3. To stop recording, press the RECORD button again.
When the status light is blue, you are back in Stand By
Mode.
Use Voice Activated Recording when you want the camera to
record only when there is noise above 65 dB. e camera will
record for 2 minutes when activated, or as long as the sound
continues.
To record video using voice activation;
1. Slide the power switch UP to the ON position. e status
light will turn blue. You are now in Stand By Mode.
2. Slide the VOX switch UP to the ON position. e camera
will now record when sound activates it.
3. To stop recording, slide the VOX down to OFF.
4. Slide the Power Switch down to OFF.

WHERE ARE MY FILES?
Your video recordings are located inside the
DCIM folder.
You should COPY these les to your PC for
archiving and best playback.
en, delete the les to make room for
more.
NOTE TO MAC USERS! When deleting
les, you MUST empty your trash BEFORE
you Eject the camera from your Mac.

USE AS A WEBCAM
Your camera can be used as a webcam. You should know that
the DVR80 is a UVC device, a Universal Video Class device.
is means that it should work on recent versions of Windows
and Mac OS X without needing additional drivers.
Drivers are available for download from our site if needed. We
recommened trying to using WITHOUT drivers rst. Drivers
are available for Windows only.
ese are general setup instructions for your camera as a
webcam.
1. Connect the USB cable to your camera.
2. Connect the other end directly to your PC. Do not use a
hub.
3. Push the VOX switch UP to the ON position. You must
turn on VOX rst.
4. Now, push the Power switch UP to ON. Your camera is
now available as a webcam in your video chat soware.
1. To use the camera as a
webcam, open your video chat
program, such as SKYPE. We
will use SKYPE as an example.
2. Go to your Video Settings.
In Skype, your camera is
automatically detected and
available for use.
3. Other programs will vary in
how they use your camera.
Please refer to the manual or
online help for assistance with
those programs.

Your Windows PC or Mac has built-in soware that will play most of the les created by devices
like yours. However, if you are having problems playing your les, or need more options, please
download and try these programs.
You can nd support and tutorials for these programs on their respective websites.

As with ANY les you download from the internet, be sure to scan them for viruses using your
particular virus scanner. While most users report no issues using this soware, we can not be
responsible for any damage caused by this soware. Please proceed carefully. Back up your PC
before installing any new soware.

Movie Maker is a simple video editing program from Microso. Please go
to this link, and choose the download for your version of Windows. Please
note: Movie Maker is part of the Windows Essentials package.

iMovie is a simple video editing program from Apple. It comes installed with
your new Mac. e latest version is also available at the Mac App Store at
additional cost.
AUDIO PLAYBACK and EDITING - AUDACITY

professionals to edit simple and complex audio projects. You can use
Audacity to convert your audio les to another format, such as MP3. ere
