Bimba High Flow 2:1 Air Booster Operating instructions

  • Hello! I've reviewed the Repair Instructions for Bimba Rod Seals, Piston Seals, and Body Seals. It appears to cover the step-by-step procedures for disassembling the device for seal replacement, as well as reassembling all the components. The instructions are quite detailed so that anyone can follow them and, include what tools to use and torque values.
  • What size socket is needed to remove the body bolts?
    What should be used to remove rod wipers and rod seals?
    What should be used to torque the body bolts?

DISASSEMBLY
1. Using a 7/16” socket, remove the four (4) body bolts from the rod guide and rear rod guide.
2. Remove the rod guide and rear rod guide from the main square body assembly.
3. Remove the piston/rod assembly from the inner stainless steel sleeve.
4. Remove the piston seals from the piston/rod assembly.
5. Remove the rod wipers and rod seal from the rod guide and rear rod guide shown in Figure 1.
(A pick may be needed. Do not damage the sealing surfaces of the grooves.)
6. Remove the body O-ring seals from the rod guide and rear rod guide shown in Figure 1.

REASSEMBLY
1. Lightly lubricate all of the new seals, the inside diameter of the inner body sleeve, and the outside diameter
of the piston/rod assembly.
2. Install the new rod seal into the rod guide behind the bearing as shown in DETAIL B of Figure 2.
3. Install the new rod wipers into the rod guide and rear rod guide as shown in DETAIL B and DETAIL C of Figure 2.
4. Install the new piston seals onto the piston/rod assembly as shown in DETAIL E of Figure 2.
5. Install the new body O-ring seals into the rod guide and rear rod guide as shown in DETAIL D of Figure 2.
6. Carefully install the piston/rod assembly into the inner stainless steel sleeve.
7. Install the rod guide onto the piston/rod assembly. (Avoid damaging the rod seal and rod wiper.)
8. Install the inner stainless steel sleeve into the rod guide. (Avoid damaging the body O-ring seal.)
9. Install the main square body over the inner stainless steel sleeve.
10. Install the rear rod guide onto the piston/rod assembly. (Avoid damaging the rod wiper.)
11. Install the rear rod guide onto the inner stainless steel sleeve. (Avoid damaging the body O-ring seal.) Note
the orientation of the vent plug in relation to the mounting holes shown in Figure 2.
12. Install the 4 body bolts back into the rod guide and rear rod guide.
13. Torque the bolts to 8-10 ft-lbs and use Loctite 243.
