Flat-1 and Flat Square
General Repair Instructions K-B-FO- , K-B-FS-
DISASSEMBLY
1) Using the appropriate allen wrench, remove the 4 (8 for long stroke versions) body bolts from the endcap(s).
(Use extreme caution, single acting models contain springs so the contents may be pressurized.)
2) Remove the body posts from the assembly.
3) Remove the rod guide and rear head from the body. (Please take note of spring placement, if applicable)
4) For cylinders with FKM option, please skip to step 6.
5) Install provided snap ring into the rod guide and press out rear bushing as shown in Figure 1.
6) Remove the rod seal from the rod guide. (For cylinders with FKM option, a pick may be needed.)
7) For cylinders with FKM option, please skip to step 9.
8) Press the front bushing out as shown in Figure 2.
9) Remove the body seals from rod guide and rear head.
10) Remove the piston seal(s) from the piston/rod assembly.

NOTE: FS models will have body posts replaced by tie rods and body
bolts replaced by tie nuts as shown below:

REASSEMBLY
1) Lightly lubricate all of the new seals.
2) For cylinders with FKM option, please skip to step 4.
3) Press in the new front bushing into the rod guide as shown in Figure 3.
4) Install the new rod seal into the rod guide behind the front bushing. (For FKM option cylinders, the seal will
be installed in between the front and rear bushings.)
5) For cylinders with FKM option, please skip to step 7.
6) Press in the new rear bushing into the rod guide as shown in Figure 4.
7) Install the new piston seal(s) onto the piston/rod assembly.
8) For spring retract models, install the spring onto the rod/piston assembly
9) Install the new body seals into the rod guide and rear head.
10) Carefully install the rod guide assembly onto the rod/piston assembly. (Use extreme caution, single acting
models contain springs so the contents may be pressurized.)
11) For spring extend models, install the spring back into the piston end of the rod/piston assembly.
12) Install the body into the rod guide. (Be careful not to damage the body seal.)
13) Install the rear head onto the body. (Be careful not to damage the body seal.)
14) For single acting models, the sub-assembly may need to be compressed with an arbor press.
15) Install the 4 posts back in between the rod guide and rear head.
16) Install the 4 (8 for long stroke versions) body bolts back into the rod guide and rear head.
17) Torque the bolts to the applicable values in Table 1. (See Table 2 for FS models.)
