0 FOREWORD
Thank you for purchasing an Illusion STARK satellite receiver. The device that you have
purchased is a latest-generation receiver, with software that can be regularly updated to
include the most advanced innovations. We advise to carefully read this manual before
installing, using and maintaining your receiver to ensure maximum efficiency. Always keep
this user manual next to the receiver to be able to check it during later use.
0.1 GENERAL SAFETY
WARNING
If you connect your receiver directly to a 12 Vdc source (battery or
power supply), be careful NOT TO EXCHANGE the + and cables (+
Pole in the MIDDLE , – Pole on the OUTSIDE).
Doing so would irreparably damage the logic board and the PRODUCT
GUARANTEE WOULD NO LONGER BE VALID.
The receiver should not be installed at poorly ventilated locations nor near surfaces that
might obstruct its cooling slots.
The receiver and its accessories should not be exposed to rain, excessive moisture or
direct sunlight. Do not place the receiver near sources of heat or next to magnetic
equipment or transformers.
Check that the electric system voltage matches the rated voltage on the data plate affixed
to the receiver back side next to the power input cable.

hardware or software without any obligation to give notice or provide replacement
guarantees to individual persons or organisations.
0.3 USE OF SMART CARDS
Using unauthorised smart cards might cause operation troubles and will imply your
guarantee’s loss of validity. If you have any doubts about authorised smart cards, contact
your service supplier.

The purpose of the MIR is to receive the signal from the remote control. This practical
sensor is necessary if you wish to position the Illusion STARK receiver inside a cabinet and
carry on making use of the remote control functions.
The PPR is a polarity protector.
It protects the Illusion STARK receiver from any accidental inversion of polarity on the
power cables that may have occurred during product installation or during service battery
maintenance work.

4 RECEIVER FUNCTIONS
4.1 CONNECTING THE RECEIVER
Press the “ON” button ( ) or failing it, any remote control number key. In the receiver,
you can press any front panel key.
4.2 CHANNEL SELECTION USING THE REMOTE CONTROL
Searching can be done in 3 different ways:
1. Enter your required channel number, press or wait for your channel to be displayed
on the screen.
2. Press the keys to change channels.
3. Press and use the keys to select a channel then press again the key .
With the keys you can shift within the channel list by groups of ten channels.
NOTE: Use the key to go back to your previous channel selection.

4.3 VOLUME ADJUSTMENT AND TEMPORARY AUDIO MUTING
The receiver enables to adjust the volume setting by using the keys or to mute the
sound altogether with the key .
4.4 ELECTRONIC PROGRAM GUIDE (EPG)
EPG information is not always available.
The operator (sending information to the EPG) may occasionally only provide the program
number, general programming information or no information at all.
NOTE: Make sure that local time is configured.
If local time is not configured, EPG information cannot be viewed. (Check the menu item
5.5 Clock).
EPG information will be progressively displayed on the screen according to how many
times the EPG key is pressed.
1. By pressing once the key , information on the currently viewed program is
displayed.
2. By pressing twice the key currently viewed and next program information is
displayed.

3. By pressing three times the key , the complete current list channel programming
is displayed. Use the keys to scroll up/down the list.
4. By pressing four times the key the next seven days’ programming for the
selected channel is displayed. Use the keys to change the day and the keys
to scroll up/down the programming. Confirm with that you wish to obtain more
information. To display a different channel programming, use the keys (green) and
(yellow).
4.5 “SLEEPER” FUNCTION
The receiver can be configured to switch to its “Stand By” mode after a pre-set period of
time.
Press the key . A dialogue box will be shown containing instructions on how to
operate the sleepfunction. Use the same key to set the time (15 min, 30 min...) during
which you wish the receiver to stay on.

4.6 LANGUAGE SETTING
Use the (blue) key of the remote control to select among the available languages for
each program.
4.7 SCREEN FORMAT CHANGES
1. Press the key .
2. Select “CONFIGURATION” then press .
3. Press the (green) key to enter the “Additional settings” menu.
4. Use the keys to select “Screen format”.
5. Use the keys to enter the screen format that you require: Auto, 4:3 or 16:9. Press
the (red) key to confirm.
4.8 RADIO/TV MODE SELECTION
Use the key to switch between radio and TV channels.

5.1 MENU LANGUAGE
1. Press the key , select “CONFIGURATION” and press .
2. Use the keys to select the “Language” option.
3. Use the keys to select a language, press the (red) key to save then press
.
5.2 VIDEO OUTPUT
1. Press the key , select “CONFIGURATION” then press .
2. With the keys select the “Video” option.

3. Choose between “RGB & CVBS”, “SVHS & CVBS” or “YCRCB & CVBS” with the
keys , to confirm and quit press the key .
5.3 AUTOMATIC POWER-ON
This option enables the receiver to go to either its ON or its STANDBY mode when electric
power is connected. In this way, in the event of a power cut, the receiver may go on (ON)
or go to STANDBY. This function is especially important in case of collective installations.
1. Press the key .
2. Select “CONFIGURATION”.
3. Select AUTOMATIC POWER-ON”.
4. With the keys choose either ON or STANDBY, according to your preferred
operation mode when the receiver is powered (12 V), then press the (red) key to
save.

5.4 CLOCK
1. Press the key .
2. Select “CONFIGURATION” and press .
3. With the keys select “Time setting” then press .
4. With the keys set the time then press the (red) key to save.
IMPORTANT: Check that the local time is correctly configured. Otherwise, it will not be
possible to view nor use EPG information as this guide and the corresponding timers
require correct time setting to operate.
5.5 PREFERRED AUDIO LANGUAGE
1. Press the key .
2. Select “CONFIGURATION” and press .
3. With the keys selected “Favourite languages” and press to confirm.
4. Activate automatic selection and then set the languages in your required order by using
the (green) key .

6 RECEIVER INSTALLATION
IMPORTANT: the configuration code is 1 1 1 1
NOTE: The antenna should be positioned in such a way that the signal intensity indicator
shows the best possible reception quality. The input signal level is expressed as a
percentage value.
6.1 SIMPLIFIED INSTALLATION
1. Press the key .
2. Select the paragraph “INSTALLATION”.
3. Press .
4. Use the keys to choose your required satellite.
5. Press the key (Yellow - Configuration).
6.2 TYPE OF LNB
1. Use the key to choose LNB.
2. Use the key to choose the LNB type.

6.3 DiSEqC A,B,C,D
1. Use the key to choose DiSEqC.
2. Use the key to choose the A, B, C, or D input of the DiSEqC switch. If you do not
wish to use the DiSEqC switch, choose No.
6.4 DiSEqC 1.2 MOTOR
1. Use the key to choose the motor.
2. Use the key to choose the motor DiSEqC 1/n.
3. Use the key (green - motor).

4. Select the transponder with the keys .
5. Use the keys to select the Fine or Normal mode.
6. With the keys find the strongest signal in your chosen operating mode.
7. Press the (red) key to save.
NOTE: If no satellite has been scanned yet, the signal levels will be displayed but the
channels cannot yet be displayed.
6.5 GO TO X MOTOR
1. With the key choose the motor Go To X.
2. With the key (yellow – Forward key) and with the keys select “Longitude” and
“Latitude”.
3. With the keys and in the “Longitude and Latitude fields, mark the
geographical position of your place of interest.

4. Press the (green) key to activate the keyboard.
5. With the keys , and select the geographical position (for example 11.0E).
From the keyboard, select Enter to store to the memory and quit the keyboard.
Similarly, enter the other parameter (e.g. 39.0N). To correct and delete entries press
the button .
6. The motor will automatically turn towards the satellite position.
7. To set All Satellites Go To X”, select it, then press followed by the (red) key to
save.

6.6 FUNCTION GTC (Go To City)
This option enables to automatically set the “Longitude” and “Latitude” to use the Go
To X function. If your required town/city is not listed, select the closest town/city.
If your required town/city is listed, select it with the keys and then press , by
doing this, it will be automatically located in terms of “Longitude” and “Latitude”.
7 ADVANCED CONFIGURATION
This receiver enables to modify, configure and personalise all its parameters to adjust
them to the special type of installation.
1. Press the key , select the paragraph “INSTALLATION” then press .
2. Press the (yellow – Configuration) key.
3. Press the (yellow – Advanced) key. After entering the “Advanced Installation
Menu, the following parameters can be modified:

7.1 MODIFYING THE SATELLITE NAME
Once inside the “Advanced installation” menu, select “NAME” with the keys :
1. Press the key (green - modify) to display the keyboard.
2. Select keyboard letters and digits with the keys and then press , select
ENTER to quit the keyboard.
3. Press the (red) key to save and the key to quit the menu.
7.2 MODIFYING THE SATELLITE POSITION
Once inside the “Advanced installation” menu, select “POSITION” with the keys :
1. Press the key (green key - Modify) to display the keyboard.
