It is the responsibility of the installer to meet all code and

safety requirements, and to obtain all required building

 permits.Thefencinginstallershoulddetermineand

 implementappropriateinstallaontechniquesfor 

 eachinstallaonsituaon.FortressBuildingProductsand

its distributors shall not be held liable for improper or

 unsafeinstallaons.

 ContactyourlocalBuildingCodeDepartmentforrequired

 permitsandlawsregardingyourfenceproject.

 Ifapplicable,alsocontactyourHomeOwnersAssociaon

 forrulesandregulaonsregardingfenceinstallaonsin

 yourneighborhood.

 Call811beforeyoudigpostholestolocateandidenfy

 anyburiedulies.

• WhencungFortressFencing,itisveryimportantto

complete the following at cut points:

 • Removeallmetalshavingsfromthecutarea.

 • Fileanysharpedgeslebycung.Thoroughlywipeand

 removeanylings,grime,ordirt.

 • ApplytwocoatsofFortresszincbasedtouch-uppaintto

 thecutarea.Iftouchupisatrailends,allowpainttodry

 beforeconnecngbrackettopost.

 • Besuretoremoveanymetalshavingsfromthesurfaceof

 Fence.

Torx Safety Tips

 • Alwaysusethelowestspeedsengondrill.

 • Toreducechanceofbitbreakage,startghteningwithdrill

 onlowtorquesengandworkupunlscrewissecured.

DROP ROD INSTALLATION

Step 1: Install Locking Plate & Upper Rod Clip

 1. UsetheDropRodtondtheplacementforthebrackets.

 2. PlacetheDropRodonthesurfacestandingupandlevel 

nexttothegateupright.

 3. TheLockingPlateshouldbemounted2”[51mm]below 

 thebendinthedroprod.AsshowninFig1.

 4. CentertheLockingPlateandUpperRodClipontheupright

 andinstallwiththe3providedself-drillingscrewsusinga 

 10mmNutDriverorT-25Torxbit.AsshowninFig2.

Step 2: Install Lower Rod Clip & Retaining Clip

 1. InserttheDropRodthroughthemountedUpperRodClip,

 thenthroughtheunmountedLowerRodClip.As shown in

 Fig1&2.

 2. WiththeDropRodintheupposion,locatetheLowerRod

  ClipabovetheRetainingClipnotchinthedroprod.As

 showninFig3.

 3. EnsurethatDropRodisLevel.

 4. MarkLocaonofLowerRodCliponGateUpright.As

 showninFig4.

 5. RemovetheDropRodthenInstall Lower Rod Clip with

  suppliedself-drillingscrews.AsshowninFig5.

 6. OncelowerRodClipisinstalled,Re-inserttheDropRod 

 throughinbothRodClips.

 1. LowertheDropRodsothatitisresngontheconcrete 

 surface.

 2. Markholelocaon.

 3. Usinga3/4”[19mm]Concretedrillbit,drilla3”[76mm]

  deepholebelowtheDropRodwhenthegateisinthe 

 closedposion.AsshowninFig1.

CARE & MAINTENANCE

Care And Maintenance Of Fortress Building Products

Powder-Coated Products And Surfaces:

• ImmediatelyaerinstallaonofyourFortressBuilding

Products,cleanpowder-coatedproductsandsurfaceswith

asoluonofwarmwaterandnon-abrasive,pHneutral

detergentsoluon.Surfacesshouldbethoroughlyrinsedaer

cleaningtoremoveallresidues.Allsurfacesshouldbecleaned

usingasoclothorsponge.

• Ensureconstruconmaterialssuchasconcrete,plaster,and

paintsplashesareremovedimmediatelybeforetheyhavea

chancetodry.Failuretoremovethesematerialsmaycause

damagetothepowder-coatedsurfaces.

• Thefrequencyofcleaningdependsinpartonthestandard

o f  a p p e a r a n c e  a n d  a l s o  t h e  r e q u i r e m e n t s  t o  r e m o v e  d e p o s i t s 
