QUAD H2LIU
CLEI: VACJVMC _ _
DESCRIPTION
The H2LIU is a common module designed for use in the Total Access 1000. The H2LIU
features:
Provides up to four HDSL2 interfaces Supports special services
Recovers span power voltage SF and ESF framing formats
B8ZS line code format Hands off an ATM DS1 IMA signal
NOTE: When using the Quad H2LIU to span power the Total Access 1000 DSLAM the
system may be powered using two, three or four HDSL2 loops. Deployment limits
of the HDSL2 interfaces will depend upon the service mix and cross-talk
environment of the feeder pairs used to provide the HDSL2 service in a given
installation. The HDSL2 interfaces of the Quad H2LIU will operate at a range of
7,500 feet of 26 AWG with 5 dBm of noise margin using the ANSI T1.418-2002
cross-talk models. If it is desired to deploy the Total Access 1000 DSLAM on two
HDSL2 interfaces, the DC loop resistance of each loop should be less than 614
ohms which is approximately 7,360 ft of 26 AWG cable. The Total Access 1000
DSLAM can not in any circumstance be powered by a single HDSL2 loop. When
using two or more HDSL2 loops to span power the Total Access 1000 DSLAM the
maximum difference in the DC resistance of any two pairs should be less than 83
ohms, which equates to approximately 1000 ft of 26 AWG cable. The ADTRAN
Quad H2LIU is only designed to operate with 3rd generation ADTRAN H2TU-Cs
(122300XLX, 1181113LX or equivalent). Questions on the compatibility of the
Total Access 1000 Quad H2LIU and other H2TU-Cs should be directed to
ADTRAN Technical Support at 800-726-8863.
TURNUP STEPS
Unpack the Total Access 1000 LIU card and inspect for damage. If damage is apparent,
refer to your carrier or supplier for remedy.
Insert H2LIU card into the Total Access 1000 slot marked LIU. To insert, hold the LIU card
by the front panel while supporting the bottom edge of the card. Align the card edge with
the guide groove in the Total Access 1000 chasis. Insert into chassis until the edge card
connector seats firmly into the chassis backplane. Lock the unit in place by pushing in on
the locking levers.
There are four LED indicators on the LIU front panel, one for each HDSL2 network loop.
They function as follows:
H2LIU LEDS
LOOP 1 - 4 RED Loop trained - margin <= 0
YELLOW Loop trained - poor margin of 1 or 2
YELLOW FLASHING Copying code from one PROM to the other
GREEN Loop trained - margin >= 3
GREEN FLASHING Loop not trained
Connect VT100 compatible terminal to BCU front panel ADMIN port.
4a. Connect DB-9 cable
4b. Run terminal emulation program
4c. If using Windows HyperTerminal, open by selecting
Programs/Accessories/Hyperterminal
NOTE: To ensure proper display background, select VT100 Terminal Emulation under
settings.
Proceed through menus to the H2LIU
5a. LOGIN (default login: ADMIN, PASSWORD)
5b. select Line Interface Unit (2)
5c. select Provisioning (2)
5d. select Loop to Provision (N/P)
5e. select Provisioning item (1-3)
NOTE: To traverse through the menus, select the desired entry and press Enter. To
work backward in the menu, press ESC (escape key).
Testing – to access the Test menu for an access module, select Test
(item 4 after 5b).
TESTING
Network Loopback – HDSL2 data is looped back toward the network with framing
and line coding unchanged.
Backplane Loopback – HDSL2 data is looped back toward both the customer and
the network.
