Thank you for your recent purchase of your new Webasto ThrowBack Top for Jeep Wrangler

Hardtop. Be sure to thoroughly read the installation instructions prior to installation.

The Webasto ThrowBack Top for the Jeep Wrangler Hardtop is intended to be used as an

everyday shield from weather conditions. This top is not intended for structural protection in

the event of an accident or roll over situation. Refer to your Jeeps owner’s manual for further

information about proper safety restraints. Always wear your seatbelt per manufacturers

recommendations and state laws.

It is strongly recommended to have two people available to assist with the installation

of the Webasto ThrowBack Top.

Step Image Description

1.

Carefully remove the Webasto ThrowBack Top

from its packaging. Be sure to save the shipping

box and related materials for optional storage

of the Jeep Freedom Panels explained later in

step 12.

Remove Jeep Freedom Panels per the

manufacturer’s recommendations.

Steps 3-6 are for the Jeep Wrangler 4-Door only. Skip to step 7 if installing your

Webasto ThrowBack Top on a Jeep Wrangler 2-Door.

Locate the rearmost sport bar hole as shown.

This can be located by feeling through the sport

bar padding approximately 2 ¾” (70mm)

forward of hard top edge.

4.

On the top side of the sport bar padding make

a ½” slit to allow for the ThrowBack retainer

bolt to pass-through during the following steps.

5.

Gain access to the underside of the rear sport

bar hole. Remove the sport bar padding from

both B-pillars by gently lifting upward.

Unzip and pull padding forward enough to

access the underside of described hole.

7.

It is recommended to have two people available

to assist with this step. Carefully place the

complete ThrowBack Top into place as shown.

8.

Using the supplied M8 bolts and previously

removed mushroom knobs, secure the

ThrowBack Top in the following sequence from

the underside the of the top. Torque M8 bolts

to 5 Nm. or 44.25 in-lbs.

Re-check M8 bolts periodically to ensure proper

torque.

9.

Reinstall sport bar padding in the reverse

order of removal (steps 5 & 6).

NOTE: 4 door model only

10.

Unclip the Sun Visors and move them out of

the way. Locate the two windshield header

latches; adjust the latch handle to the full

open position to allow for engagement of

the windshield loop.

11.

Pivot each latch forward to close and secure

each latch assembly. Re-clip the Sun Visors

back into position.

12.

The Webasto ThrowBack Top packaging is

designed to stow your Jeep Freedom Panels

while not in use. Insert the supplied Freedom

Panel spacer into place as shown. Carefully

position your Freedom Panels and close lid.

This packaging is not designed to be

stackable.

Operation

OPEN THROWBACK TOP

Image Description

Unclip the Sun Visors and move them out of the

way. Release the header latches from the

windshield loops but pulling on the buckles.

Using the ThrowBack Top front rail; lift the top up

and back towards the rear of the vehicle.

If you’re expecting a bumpy ride, wrap the

supplied Velcro

®

straps around each side

mechanism assembly as shown to prevent an

accidental top closure.

CLOSE THROWBACK TOP

Image Description

Be sure to remove the Velcro

®

straps before

attempting to close the top and stow for future

use.

Unclip the Sun Visors and move them out of the

way. Using the ThrowBack Top front rail; lift the

top up and forward towards the front of the

vehicle.

Locate the two windshield header latches; adjust

the latch handle to the full open position to allow

for engagement of the windshield loop.

Pivot each latch forward to close and secure each

latch assembly.

CARE AND MAINTENANCE

WASHING:

Use a mild soap with minimum suds, warm water, and a brush with soft bristles. DO NOT use

harsh cleaners or bleaching agents on top material, as damage may result.

RINSING:

Be sure to remove all traces of cleaner by rinsing the top thoroughly with clean water.

Remember to allow the top to dry before opening it.

- Do not use an automatic car wash or high pressure car wash with ThrowBack top

installed.

- Do not open the ThrowBack Top with temperatures below 41°F (5°C). Damage to the

top may occur.

- Do not attempt to operate the vehicle until the top has been fully attached to the

windshield frame or is fully opened.

- When removing frost, snow or ice, never use a scraper or de-icing chemicals on fabric

top.

LIMITED NON-TRANSFERABLE WARRANTY

Webasto Thermo & Comfort North America, Inc. (hereinafter referred to as Webasto)

warrants their Jeep ThrowBack Top against defects in material and workmanship for two (2)

years from date of purchase.

Replacement parts are covered for six (6) months or the remainder of the original warranty

period, whichever is longer.

The intent of the Webasto warranty is to protect the original end-user of the Jeep ThrowBack

Top from defects and provide free repair and replacement of defective parts in the manner

provided herein. During the warranty period, the exclusive remedy will be for Webasto, at

their discretion, to repair or replace those parts which are demonstrated to be defective in

material or workmanship.

Limitations: Webasto specifically excludes and limits warranty from the following:

- Damage to product in transit. All claims must be filed with carrier.

- Improper installation, which is not in accordance with valid, supplied installation

instructions.

- Deterioration due to normal wear, corrosion, abuse, damage, accident, improper

storage or operation, lack of reasonable and necessary maintenance.

- Modification of product by alteration, use of non-genuine parts or repair by

unauthorized personnel.

- Economic loss for expenses related to travel, vehicle disability, personal injury or other

incidental or consequential damages arising from any breach of this expressed

warranty.

or by

completing the Warranty Registration Card if included with your product. A proof of

purchase is required for all products that are not registered.

THIS WARRANTY IS NON-TRANSFERABLE. IMPLIED WARRANTIES INCLUDING THAT

OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE ARE EXPRESSLY

LIMITED TO THE DURATION OF THIS WARRANTY. WEBASTO DISCLAIMS ANY

LIABILITY FOR SPECIAL, INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES.

SOME STATES AND CANADIAN PROVINCES DO NOT ALLOW THE EXCLUSION OR

LIMITATION OF INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, SO THE ABOVE

LIMITATION OR EXCLUSIONS MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU. THIS WARRANTY GIVES YOU

SPECIFIC LEGAL RIGHTS, AND YOU MAY ALSO HAVE OTHER RIGHTS WHICH VARY

AMONG STATES AND CANADIAN PROVINCES.

WEBASTO RETAINS THE RIGHT TO MODIFY THESE WARRANTY TERMS WITHOUT

NOTICE IN ORDER TO COMPLY WITH POLICY OR LAWS GOVERNING WARRANTY

ISSUES IN STATES OR COUNTRIES HAVING SPECIFIC REMEDIES DIFFERING OR

ADDITIONAL TO THOSE DESCRIBED WITHIN THIS DOCUMENT.
