1.4 Proper usage
Proper usage of X8 tiles
No par t of the X8 tile c an come in contact w ith any type of corrosive s ubstance.
Using the LE D product in a n environment w ith high cor rosive gass es (e.g. Sulphur) c an lead to discoloration of the materials.
This discoloration gives a c hange in b rightness of the product. This could lead to uniformity differences and possibly also to
failures. Ea ch us e of the product in this kind of environment needs to be checked up-front with the supplier.
X8 tiles are to be used in environments meeting the operating specica t io ns.
X8 tiles are not to be used in environments that are subject to airborne contaminants s uch as that produced by smoke machines
(cracked oil) or similar (these deposit a thin layer of greasy residue upon the L EDs optics, degrading performance).
X8 tiles are not to be exposed to extreme loca lized heat or cold exceeding the t emperature spec ications.
X8 tiles are not to be exposed to any element or situation that will cause any part of the display to hea t beyond what o ccurs
during normal operation. Such situations include but are not limited to lasers, ultrasonic vibration, o
r any type of substance that
prevents p roper ventilation and heat radiation of the X8 tiles.
Power connected to the X 8 tiles must meet the specications outlined in the installation manual.
Avoid any accidental bumping of the tile corners while installing or removing the X8 tiles. Since LED ’s of the X8 tiles are mounted
near by the edges of the LED boards, which is unavoidable in the design of a high resolution LED-wall, the corners of the X8
tiles become sensitive for mechanical damage. Be cause of that it is required to handle the X8 tiles with care at all times.
X8 tiles w hich are not installed and w hich are not securely s tored in an X8 ight case, may only be placed vertically upon at
surfaces free of clutter. M ake sure that the X 8 tile does not rest upon the bottom r ow of LED’s but upon the provide studs at
the bottom o f the rental frame.
While removing or installing the X 8 m odule always keep the LED side of the X8 ti
le parallel with the LED side of the remaining
neighboring X8 tiles. This to av oid any mechanical stress upon the corners of the X8 module.
No force can be applied to the LED’s. Any LE D’s damaged due to mechanical stress are not covered by the warranty.
Safety and functional features of the display cannot be defeated.
It is not allowed to climb or hang any additional equipment on the back of an X8 w all. Nothing is to be allowed to hang from the
cables of an X8 tile.
Any failures must be immediately and appropriately dea lt with ( equipment retu
rned to Barco). Failing eq uipment cannot be left
to run in a wall.
No additional tools (hamm ers, pr y-bars, etc.) are to be used to force handles or locks into place. A ll moving parts should be
managed by hand.
Only Barco cables sp ecied to be used with the X8 display are to be used to connect components in the X8 wall. Further, ca re
must be taken to connect signal on ly according to the installation m anual.
X8 tiles are not to be used in the vicinity of any equipm ent tha t is not CE and UL/ETL certied.
X8 tiles are not to be transported for any distance in containers other than Barco ight cases or Barco single unit packaging.
Further, even the use of B arco ight cases or packaging material does not guarantee the X8 tiles a gainst damage due to
excessive force of impacts. All warranty claims regarding dam
aged X8 tiles due to incorrect packing will be rendered invalid.
X8 tiles are not to be co nnected to any non-Barco equipme nt (the X8 tiles are NOT HDMI compatible devices, despite the use
of HDMI-style connectors).
When stacking X8 tiles, only Barco X8 feet can be used, and they must be leveled acc ording to the manual before installing X 8
tiles. Improper leveling can result in e xcessive forces on t he structural components of the X 8 tiles.
When hanging X8 tiles, only Barco X 8 trusses can be us ed and they must be installed and connected according to the manual.
Improper hanging of X8 tiles can result in excessive forces on th e structural compon ents of the X8 tiles.
When stacking or hanging X8 tiles, the guidelines outlined in the installation manual m ust be followed to prevent movement
of the d isplay (including tipping). Further, X8 tiles ar e only to be installed vertically. Any tipping of a display will cause undue
stress on the structural components of the X8 tiles, and coul
d ev e n allow the X8 wa ll t o fall.
When stacking X8 tiles, the X8 stacker must be used.
When reconnecting com ponents in an X8 tile, care must be taken to ensure that cables are carefully routed according to the
installation manual to prevent damage to the cables or other pa rts of the X8 tile.
Shaders can only be remove d using the approved shader removal tool and the me thod described in the X8 manual(s).
X8 tiles can be cleaned only in accordance to the procedures dened in the X 8 manual(s).
Ensure rigging hardware is able to handle the weight of the en tire X8 sy stem with appropriate safety factors.
External rigging hardware must b e properly installed prior to hanging X8 tiles.
Do not hang more than 13 X8 tiles (11 m) tall with the integral rigging hardware.
Barco supplies a variety of stacking and hanging ac cessor
ies for screens up to 3 tiles stacked or 13 tiles hanging.
