needs to be protected by means of a Surge Protection Device. If this product is connected to the mains through the powe r box
from Barco this protection device is already inc orporated and no extra measures need to be taken. If this product is connected to
the mains through a power distribution box from another party, please ve rify that a Low Voltage Surge Protection Device according
EN61643-11 or UL 1449 is in place.
High leakag e current:
The com bination of multiple tiles in an installation r esults in increased levels of leakage c urrent. In order to avoid risk of electric
shock due to high leakage c urrent, proper grounding of the installation is required.
Flammable materials:
Keep ammable m aterials away from the installation (such as curtains). A lot of energy is transferred into heat. The installation
should be such that the amount of air ow required for safe operation of t he equipment is no t compromised. Proper ve ntilation m ust
be provided.
Risk of electric shock / Risk of re:
The X2.8R tile requires 100-240VAC, 50-60Hz, 0,6A a t 230VA C to function.
To protect against risk of re caused by overloading of pow er cables:
When working on 200-240VAC, a M AX IMU M of 14 tiles may be connec ted in 1 chain. Each power source cable supplying
MAXIMUM 14 tiles shou ld be protected by a circuit breaker or fuses rated:
- 16 A / 250 VA C (EU/APAC)
- 15 A / 250 VAC (USA/Canada)
When working on 100-120VAC, a M AX IMU M of 10 tiles may be connec ted in 1 chain. Each power source cable supplying

damaged, replace them only with new ones. Nev er try to repair a power cord.
LED s :
The LEDs used on the X 2.8R tiles are fragile. Never push with a hard or sharp object onto the lens of the LED as this may cause
damage to the LE D. The maximum allowed load upon the lens of the LED is 300 gram/LED. Be careful when installing a shader
upon th e X2.8R tiles. Shaders only t in one direction a n d this should be veried before pushing into nal position. Use your bare
ngers (not nails) to press the shader over the LEDs . Use your nger nails to press upon the framework of the shader between the
LEDs (not upon the LEDs) to push the shader in its nal position.
Do not hot plug:
Do not hot plug any ca bles. Dam age to the conn ector pins may occur. Resulting dam age is not covered u nder warranty.
Maximum allowed d isplay height:
The maximum height of a X2.8R display is limited: maximum 12 tiles high standing and maxim um 25 tiles h igh for a hanging con-
guration.
The maximum height of the X2.8R display in a b
ase stand conguration can be reduced depending on the wind load, the friction
coefcient, the position of the LED-wall, and the weight of the complete d isplay. Use the LE D-wall Ballast Calculator (version 10
or later) to de termine the maximum height of the X 2.8R display and the required ballast to prevent tipping or s liding of the X2.8R

1. Safety
Base surface
Do not install a base stand X2.8R display upon a smooth surfaces. Place rubber mats between the foot beams o f the LED wall and
the smooth surface to increase friction.
Maximum w ind load for hanging a nd stand ing conguration
The X2.8R display in a hanging conguration must be torn down in case winds exceeds B eaufort force 6 (>50km/hr).
1.4 Proper usage
Proper usage of X2.8R tiles
No part of the X2.8R tile can come in contact with any type of corrosive substance.
Using the LED product in an environment with high corrosive gasses (e.g. Sulphur) can lead to discoloration of the materials.
This discoloration gives a c hange in brightness of the product. T his could lead to uniformity differences and po ssibly also to
failures. Each us e of the product in this kind of env ironme nt nee ds to be c hecked up-front with the supplier.
X2.8R tiles are to be used in environm ents mee ting the operating specications.
X2.8R tiles a re not to be used in environments that are subject to airborne con taminants such as that produced by s mok e
machines (cracked oil) or sim ilar (these deposit a thin layer of greasy residue upon the LE Ds optics, degrading performance).
X2.8R tiles are not to be exposed to extreme localized heat or cold ex ceeding the temperature specications.
X2.8R tiles are not to be exposed to any element or situation that will c ause any part of the display to heat beyond wh at occurs
during normal operation. Such situations inc lude but are not limited to lasers, ultrasonic vibration, or any type of s ubstance that
prevents p roper ventilation and heat radiation of the X2.8R tiles.
Power c onnected t o the X2.8R tiles must m eet the s pecications outlined in the installation manua l.
Avoid any accidental bum ping of the tile corners while installing o r removing t he X2.8R tiles. S ince LED’s of the X2.8R tiles a re
mounted near by the edg es of the LED boards, w hich is unavoidable in the design of a high resolution LED-wall, the corners
of the X2.8R tiles beco me sensitive for mech anical damage. B ecaus e of that it is required to handle the X2.8R tiles with ca re
at all times.
Never place an X2.8R tile or an X 2.8R m odule upon a surface with the LE D’s facing downwards without protection. This to
prevent damage to the LEDs and the soft lens of the LEDs.
X2.8R tiles which are not ins talled and which are not securely stored in an X2.8R ight case, m ay only be placed v ertically upon
at surfaces free of clutter. M ake s ure that the X2.8R tile does not rest upon the bottom row of LED’s but upon the provide
studs at the bottom of the rental frame.
While removing or installing the X2.8R tile always keep the LED side of the X2.8R tile parallel with the LED side of the remaining
neighboring X2.8R tiles. This to av oid any m echanica l stress upon the c orners of the X2.8R tiles.
No force can be applied to the LEDs. Any LEDs dam aged due to m echanical s tress are not covered by the wa rranty.
Safety and functional features of the display cannot be defe
ated.
It is not allowed to clim b or hang any additional equipment on the back of an X2.8R w all. Nothing is to be allowed to hang from
the cables of an X2.8R tile.
Any failures must be immediately and appropriately dea lt with (equipment returned to Barc o). Failing equipment cannot be left
to run in a w all.
No additional tools (hamm ers, pry-bars, etc.) are to be used to force handles or locks into place . All moving parts s hould be
managed by hand.
Only Barco cables specied to be u sed with the X 2.8R display are to be used to connect components in the X2.8R wall. Further,
care must be taken to connect signal only according to the installation manual.
X2.8R tiles are not to be used in the v icinity of any equipment that is not CE and UL/ETL certied.
X2.8R tiles are not to be transported for any distance in containers other than Barco ight cases or Barco single unit pa ckaging.
Further, even the use of Barco ight cases or pac kaging material does not guarantee the X2.8R tiles against damage due to
excessive force of impacts. A ll warranty claim s regarding damaged X2.8R tiles due to incorrect pack ing will be rendered invalid.
X2.8R tiles are not to be connected to any non-B arco equipm ent.
When stacking X2.8R tiles, the quality can on ly be guaranteed w hen using Barco X2.8R f eet. Make sure the feet are leveled
according to the manual before installing X 2.8R ti
les. Im proper leveling can result in e xcessive forces on the structural compo-
nents of the X2 .8R tiles.
When han ging X2.8R tiles, only Barco X2.8R trusses can be used and they must be installed and con nected acc ording to the
manual. Improper hanging of X2.8R tiles can result in excess ive forces on the structural components of the X2.8R tiles.
When stacking or hanging X2.8R tiles, the guidelines outlined in the installation m anual must be followed to prevent movement
of the display (including tipping). F urther, X2.8R tiles are only to be installed ve rtically. Any tipping of a display will cause undue
stress on the structural components of the X2.8R tiles, and could even allow the X2.8R w all to fall.
When stacking X 2.8R tiles, the X2.8R stacker mus t be used.
When reconnecting components in an X2.8R tile, c are must be taken to ensure that cables are carefully routed according to
the installation m anual to prevent damage to t he c
ables or other parts o f the X2.8R tile.
X2.8R tiles can be cleaned only in accordance to the procedures dened in the installation manual.
Do not hang more than 25 X 2.8R tiles (12 m) tall with the integral rigging hardware.

Due to the dam aging effects of lightning, utility switching and switching electric m otors of other us ers on the mains, this product
needs to be protected by means of a Surge Prote
ction Device. If this product is co nnected to the mains through the power box
from Barco this protection device is already inc orporated and no extra measures need to be taken. If this product is connected to
the mains through a power distribution box from another party, please ve rify that a Low Voltage Surge Protection Device according
EN61643-11 or UL 1449 is in place.
Power system
It is recommended to use a T N-S power distribution system (a pow er distribution system with a separate neutral and grounding
conductor) in order to avoid large groun d current loops due to voltage differences in the neutral c onductor. The total electrical
installation should be protected by an appropriately rated disconnect switch, circuit br eakers, over voltage protector and Ground Fault
Current Interrupters. The installation shall be done according to the local electrical installation co des. In Europe special attention
should be given to EN 60364, the standard for electrical installation of buildings. In G ermany VDE 0100 sh ould be adhered to. In
America, special attention should be given to the National Electrical Code, ANS I/NFPA 70.
Disconnect device
When the appliance inlets of the individual tiles are not accessible, the socket outlets supplying the rack shall be installed near t he
equipment and b e eas ily accessible, or a r eadily acces sible gen eral disconnect device shall be incorporated in the xed wiring.

7 Ethernet cable for connections between tiles
The redundancy data cable is op tional and requires a second (redundant) NP100. T he redundancy feature helps to automatically
solve a data interruption due to a miss ing link in the data cabling. All tiles behind the interruption will receive their content via the
redundancy data line. The com plete image will be restored almost immediately.

4.2 X2.8R rental truss/oor setup accessories
Truss setup accessories
X2.8R truss beam s are required to set u p an X2.8R display in a hanging conguration. Barco offers three sizes of X2.8R t russ
beams, namely the dual (2x), tripl
e (3x) and quad (4x) truss beam. These truss beam s cover a width of respectively two, three and
four X2 .8R tiles. Each truss beam is equipped with two or m ore lifting eyes.
In order to build the X2.8R display, the tiles must be connected using m ounting p lates. Different types of moun ting plates are avail-
able.
