1 Introduction
TheMETTLERTOLEDOInPro
®
325X(i)pHsinglerodmeasuringcell
is a low maintenance, autoclavable and pressure resistant pH
electrodewithapre-pressurisedliquidelectrolyteandareference
electrolytetogetherwithasilverionsbarrier.Pleasereadthrough
these operating instructions carefully before commissioning, in
order to ensure trouble-free use. We recommend that you only
operate the electrode in conjunction with original parts from
METTLERTOLEDO.Operationandmaintenanceshouldbecarried
out only by trained personnel and staff who have read and
understoodtheoperatinginstructions.
2 Safetyinstructions
Whencleaningorcalibratingtheelectrodeusingsolutionscontaining
acids or alkalis both protective spectacles and protective gloves
shouldbeworn.Donottouchtheelectrodeattheplug-incontacts,
sinceelectrostaticdischargescandamagetheelectronics.

redpartoftheplug-inheadinordertoenableidentication.
This product complies with the ATEX guideline 94/9/EC. The

4 Installationandcommissioning
1.While unpackingcheckthe electrodefor mechanical damage.
PleasereportanydamageimmediatelytoyourMETTLERTOLEDO
supplier.
2.Remove the protectivecap and rinse the electrodefora short
timewithdeionisedwater.Carefullyremovethesiliconprotection
fromthediaphragmwiththeaidoftheknifesupplied(cf.green
instruction images on the packaging). If the electrode has
already been used the sensitive part can be cleaned if
necessarywithasofttoothbrushandamildsoapsolution,and
thenrinsedforashorttimewithdeionisedwater.Afterrinsing
the electrode should only be dabbed. Any rubbing of the
pH-sensitiveglasscanincreasetheresponsetime asaresult
ofelectrostaticchargeaccumulation.
3.CheckthespacebehindthepHsensitiveglassforairbubblesand
remove any air bubbles that may be present by shaking the
electrodelightlyinaverticaldirection.

4.Place the electrode into the armature as described in the
instructionsforthearmature.
5.ConnecttheelectrodeandthepHtransmitterwiththecorresponding
cable(VP6,VP8,AK9).Observe the connectionsschemethat
accompaniesthecableorthetransmitter.
6.IntelligentISM
®
sensorssuchasInPro325Xienable«plugand
measure»andextendeddiagnostics.Operationoftheelectrodes
intheISMmoderequirestheM700transmitteraswellasanISM
pH-module (2700i X). For installation, commissioning and
operationoftheISMsystempleaseobservetheinstructionsfor
thetransmitter,moduleandcable.
5 Operation:
Calibration
oftheelectrodeandpHtransmitter
Beforeacalibrationimmersetheelectrodefor10minutesinapH
7.00orpH4.01buffersolutionwhilstconnectingittothetransmitter.
A2-pointcalibrationisrecommended,e.g.pH7.00andpH4.01
buffer solutions. Forfurther details please consult the operating
instructionsforthepHtransmitter.
6 Maintenance
1.Aftereachworkingcycletheelectrodetipanddiaphragm(s)are
to be carefully rinsed with deionised water.Any drying out of
residuesfromthesolutionbeingmeasuredonthesepartsmust
be avoided at all costs!
2.Iftheelectrodeisnotinuseitisstoredwiththeelectrodetipand
thediaphragmimmersedinatankofelectrolyte(9823/3MKCl
or9848Friscolyt™).
3.If the electrode is stored in its armature the rules described
underItem2apply,althoughtheelectrolytehastobeslightly
modiedforstoragepurposes(2partsofbuffersolutionpH9.2
to 10 parts of electrolyte) in order to avoid any corrosion of
thearmatureparts.
4.If an electrode is inadvertently stored in a dry condition for
severaldaysitmustberinsedforseveralhoursinastandard
storageelectrolyte.
5.Theplug-inheadshouldoccasionallybecheckedforpossible
tracesofmoisture.Ifnecessarycleanitthoroughlywithdeionised
wateroralcoholandthendryitoffcarefully.
7 Removalofsourcesofmalfunction
Withasofttoothbrushandwateranyresiduescaneasilyberemoved
fromtheelectrode.Mildwashingagentscanalsobeused.Protein
contaminationsonthediaphragmcanbemostlikelyremovedwith
thecleaningsolution(orderno.51340070).

Warning:Solutionscontaininghydrouoricaciddamagethe
pHsensitivepartoftheelectrode.
8 Environmental protection
Waste electricalproductsshouldnot bedisposed of
withhouseholdwaste.Pleaserecyclewherefacilities
exist. Check with your Local Authority or retailer for
recyclingadvice.
9 Warranty
Onmanufacturingdefects12monthsafterdelivery.
10 Storageconditions
Werecommendthattheelectrodesarestoredatroomtemperature.
