Introduction

The Thermo Scientific™ Pierce™ G2 Fast Blotter - Power Stainer Upgrade is used for upgrading one Thermo Scientific™

Pierce™ G2 Fast Blotter Control Unit (Product #62291) to include gel staining capability. The upgraded Pierce G2 Fast

Blotter/Stainer will work in conjunction with the Thermo Scientific™ Pierce™ Power Stain Cassette (Product #22836) and

the Thermo Scientific™ Pierce™ Power Staining Kits (Product #22839 and 22840) to electrophoretically stain proteins

embedded in a polyacrylamide gel. The upgraded Pierce G2 Fast Blotter/Stainer will also work in conjunction with the

Thermo Scientific™ Pierce™ G2 Fast Blotter Cassette (Product #62289), the Thermo Scientific™ Pierce™ Power Blot

Cassette (Product #22835), Thermo Scientific™ Pierce™ 1-Step Transfer Buffer (Product #84731), and appropriate filter

paper and membrane to electrophoretically transfer proteins embedded in a polyacrylamide gel to nitrocellulose and/or PVDF

membrane.

A. Upgrade the Pierce G2 Fast Blotter Control Unit

1. Power off the Pierce G2 Fast Blotter Control Unit.

2. Remove the USB dust cover.

3. Insert the USB Flash Drive containing the Pierce Power Stain Upgrade Software into the USB port on the rear panel of

the Pierce G2 Fast Blotter Control Unit.

4. Power on the Pierce G2 Fast Blotter Control Unit.

5. The message box “Thermo Scientific Semi Dry Blotter is already installed. Reinstall?” will pop up. Click on the “OK”

Box. The Pierce Power Stain Upgrade Software will install automatically.

6. After install, you will see the new Splash Screen followed by the new Welcome Screen. Remove the USB Flash Drive.

At this point, choose whether you are blotting or staining. For detailed instructions, refer to the Quick Start Guide or

(III) USE OF THE PRODUCTS IN A MANNER FOR WHICH THEY WERE NOT DESIGNED, OR (IV) IMPROPER STORAGE AND HANDLING OF

THE PRODUCTS.
