Power Supply Cord Used as Disconnect Means
Caution: The power supply cord is used as the main disconnect device. Ensure
that the socket outlet is located/installed near the equipment and is easily

used batteries according to the manufacturer's instructions.

Peripheral Usage
The NCR 7448 Workstation should only be used with peripheral devices which
are certified by the appropriate safety agency for the county of installation (UL,
CSA, TUV, VDE) or those which are recommended by NCR Corporation.
Environmental Consciousness
NCR’s concern for the environment is demonstrated by the intelligent power
management system for the NCR 7448 Workstation which operates efficiently
in a standalone or network environment.

This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class A digital
device, pursuant to Part 15 of FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide
reasonable protection against harmful interference when the equipment is operated in a
commercial environment. This equipment generates, uses, and can radiate radio
frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the instruction
manual, may cause harmful interference to radio communications. Operation of this
equipment in a residential area is likely to cause interference in which case the user will
be required to correct the interference at his own expense.
NCR is not responsible for any radio or television interference caused by unauthorized
modification of this equipment or the substitution or attachment of connecting cables
and equipment other than those specified by NCR. The correction of interference caused

Chapter 1: Product Overview
Introduction
The NCR 7448 Workstation is based on standard PC technology and designed
to satisfy the needs of the department store, mass merchandise, food distribution
retail markets and food service industry.
The NCR 7448 Workstation features a MEDIA-GX 300 or 333 MHz processor
board and compatible BIOS. The power management strategy is developed
around the Intel/ Microsoft Advanced Power Management (APM)
specification.
Personality Board and PCMCIA Expansion Board are available for the
processor board to provide RS-232 ports for NCR 7448 peripherals.
The NCR 7448 Workstation uses the NCR 7448 Retail Solution (RS) or ISV
Application on MS-DOS and Windows CE.
Release 1.1 provides a 3.5 inch Hard Disk Drive to support Windows 98 and
MS-DOS.

Release 1.4 provides a MEDIA-GX 333 MHz processor board and a 256MB
SDRAM for Windows 98 platform.
