General Information
Before You Start
Read this manual before attempting installation so that you can
familiarize yourself with the components and how they fit on the
vehicle. Identify variations for different engine models and different
situations that are listed in the manual. Open the package, unpack
the components and identify them.
Torque Specifications
All fasteners must be torqued to specifications. Use manufacturers
torque values for OEM fasteners. Apply Loctite 242® or equivalent
on all engine-mounted fasteners. Torque values are with Loctite
applied unless otherwise specified.

Hose Information
Depending on other installed equipment, it might be necessary to
move the air/oil separation tank from its intended location. The hoses
used in VMAC compressor systems have a specific inner liner that is
compatible with our compressor oil. Use of hoses other than those
supplied or recommended by VMAC may cause compressor damage
and may void your warranty. Please contact VMAC for replacement
hoses and further information.

Part 1: System Identification and
Warnings
Preparation for installation is very important. Missing a step or an item
can cause problems in the installation or damage to components.
Check off each item as it is completed so that you do not miss
any preparation steps.
Check through the illustrated parts list, ensure that no components
are missing, and that they are in the correct quantity. If any
components are missing, have the system ID ready and call VMAC
tech support at (888) 241-2289.
Complete the warranty form. The VMAC warranty form is located at
the back of this manual, as well as online at:
http://vmacair.com/support/warranty/
This warranty form must be completed and mailed or faxed to VMAC
at the time of installation for any subsequent warranty claim to be
considered valid.
The System Identification Number Plate must be attached
to the vehicle at the time of installation. This plate
provides information that allows VMAC to assist in parts
and repairs.
Mark and drill two 7/64-inch holes in an appropriate location, close
to the compressor. Secure the plate with supplied self- tapping
screws (Figure 1.1).

As part of the installation process, ensure that the safety and
operational instruction decal is affixed in an obvious location so that
it can be seen by vehicle operators. A good spot for this is usually
on the inside of the door or on the panel underneath the steering
wheel (Figure 1.2).
Figure 1.2 Operating Instructions
To alert any technicians that may service the vehicle, affix the
servicing caution/contact label in the engine compartment near the
hood latch in a visible location. Thoroughly clean the selected area
before affixing the label (Figure 1.3).

Part 2: Preparing for Installation
2.1 Preparing the Engine Bay
Disconnect the vehicle battery, and cover the terminals to prevent
electrical shorts.
Discharge the vehicles air conditioning system using appropriate
refrigerant gas capture equipment. The air conditioning compressor
and its bracket will be removed, so remove the A/C lines as needed
(Figure 2.1).
Remove the hose connecting the intake and charge air cooler, this
hose will be used later (Figure 2.1).

Remove and discard the OEM belt.
Remove the alternator, but save the mounting bolts, they will be
reused later on in the installation.
Remove the air conditioning pump and discard.
The main bracket uses three of the mounting points from the
removed brackets. Each removed bracket has two dowel sleeves
that are used for alignment. Two of these dowel sleeves are
required for alignment of the air compressors main bracket
(Figure 2.2).
Remove alternator bracket and discard.

view, the location of which is shown figure 2.3.
Remove the air conditioning pump bracket and discard, but save the
double ended bolt for use later. A normal bolt is provided if the OEM
bolt is damaged during removal.
The electrical tray has plastic tabs that reach into the engine
compartment that will interfere with the installed compressor. Trim
the plastic tabs flush with the main body of the electrical tray.

2.2 Modifying the Fan Shroud
The crank pulley will interfere with the Jeeps fan shroud.
Make the following modification to the shroud.
Disconnect the plastic hose clip that secures the radiator hose to the
bottom of the fan shroud (Figure 2.4).

Part 3: Installing the Tank
General mounting, and operational guidelines for a VMAC
air oil separator tank. It is up to the installer to mount the
tank to the vehicle bed.
The V900125 kit was designed for the air oil separator tank to mount
behind the front seats.
Bulkhead fittings or grommets will have to be used where the hoses
pass through the body to the tank location, for the:
3/4” discharge hose
1/2” oil hose
1/4" and 3/16” loomed poly lines
To prevent hydraulic fluid lock in the compressor, the tank should be
positioned so that it is lower than the air compressor.
During installation rotate the tank so that the directional arrow on the
end of the tank is pointing upwards (Figure 3.1).
The tank will get hot during operation, and needs to be isolated from
plastics, or other flammables around its mounting location.
During operation the blow down/pressure release may release oil
mist if the system has been over filled with oil. Be mindful of the
impact that this will have on area surrounding the tank.
VMAC sells a kit to relocate the blow-down muffler to an
external location. VMAC part number A700167 (Figure
3.1).

Part 4: Main Bracket and Cooler
Order of operation is important for this installation as some
fasteners, and hose ends will be inaccessible at later
stages of the install.
4.1 Installing the Main Bracket
Remove the tensioner, tensioner bracket, and ribbed pulley from the
main bracket shipping assembly.
Three of the engine mounting points used by the compressor have
dowel sleeves. Two of the three dowel sleeves are required for
alignment of the main bracket (Figure 4.1).
