B28-SF-500
Please read these instructions fully before starting construction.
PVA or equivalent glue will be required to stick sections together.
Sand paper can be used to gently clean any joints.
A sharp modelling knife will be required to remove sections from the sprue. Please use knives with due care and
remember to cut away from yourself at all times.
During the construction of this model, you may find it convenient to use pegs / elastic bands to hold pieces in
place while you allow glue to dry.
The outer skin of the starship.
The gantry supports note two have a solid front
foot.
Take the lowest piece of starship and the two supports
with a solid front foot.
Glue them together as shown, ensuring the
“broken” foot is where the damage is on the
starship.
Glue the other two supports into position.
Glue the other pieces of starship to the supports.
Note the thicker edge of the hatch goes at the
bottom.
Slide the front edge of the floor piece into place so the
supports fit into the slots.
Lower the floor into place.
The broken railings
Glue these into place on the edge of the floor, in any
position you prefer.
The completed hatch section.
Additional debris pieces are provided for you to decorate your model as you see fit.
Painting
Once constructed we sprayed our model with white car
undercoat, then painted the metal areas in black (household DIY
emulsion paint) and the detailed areas red (household
emulsion).
The black areas were then dry brushed with silver paint
(household emulsion)
Any mistakes were then tidied up with white paint (model paint)
The vents and panels were painted with model paints, then the
model was streaked with a black ink wash, drawing the brush
downwards each time, so the streaks run top to bottom.
Once dry, finishing touches such as rust streaks,
corrosion and some grass flock were added to show the
ship had been broken up for some time.
