FOREWORD
Take note of the following before proceeding:
1. Proper installation of this accessory requires general automotive
mechanic knowledge and experience. Please browse through each step
of this instruction manual prior to beginning the installation to determine if
you should refer the job to a professional installer/technician. Please con-
tact your dealer or Vortech Engineering for possible installers in your
area.
2. This product was designed for use on stock (un-modified, OEM)
vehicles. The PCM (computer), engine, transmission, drive axle
ratios and tire O.D. must be stock. If the vehicle or engine has been mod-
ified in any way, check with Vortech prior to installation and use of this product.
3. Use only premium grade fuel with a minimum of 91 octane (R+M/2).
4. Always listen for any sign of detonatlion (knocking/pinging) and discontinue hard
use (no boost) until the problem is resolved.
5. Vortech is not responsible for any clutch, transmission, drive-line or engine dam-
age.
Exclusions from Vortech warranty coverage considerations
include, but not limited to:
1. Neglect, abuse, lack of maintenance, abnormal operation or improper installation.
2. Continued operation with an impaired vehicle or sub-system.
3. The combined use of Vortech components with other modifications such as, but
not limited to, exhaust headers, aftermarket camshafts, nitrous oxide, third party
PCM programming or other such changes.

Installation Instructions
2005-2010 MUSTANG GT
Before beginning this installation,
please read through this entire instruction booklet
The Vortech 2005-2010 Mustang GT Fuel Pump Booster (FPB) upgrade was designed
specifically for use on 2005-2010 Ford Mustang GT vehicles equipped with a turbo-
charger, supercharger or nitrous oxide, to support applications with increased horsepow-
er over the basic kit. As with any power enhancing product, this unit is intended for use
on healthy, well-maintained engines. Vortech Engineering is not responsible for engine
damage. Installation on new vehicles will not harm or adversely affect the break-in peri-
od so long as factory break-in procedures are followed.
For best performance and continued durability, please take a note of the following key
points:
1. Use only premium grade fuel 91 octane or higher (R+M/2).
2. Always listen for any sign of detonation (pinging) and discontinue hard use (no
boost) until problem is resolved.

1. PREPARATION AND REMOVAL
Fig. 1-a: Open Trunk
A. Prior to unplugging the battery, you will need to
open the trunk. Be sure not to close the trunk
until you have completed the last step this
instruction manual.
(See Fig. 1-a)
B. Unplug the negative battery terminal lead & set
aside, making sure it doesn't come into contact
with the negative battery terminal throughout
the duration of the installation.
(See Fig. 1-b)
C. Remove the carpet, floor board, spare tire, jack
& tire iron from the trunk.

D. Remove the 6x plastic push pins securing the
scuff panel the inside of the trunk.

E. Located near the driver side of the spare tire
well is the fuel pump driver module. Unplug the
electrical connector at this time.

2. FUEL PUMP BOOSTER INSTALLATION
A. With the wires on the FPB facing upwards,
mark the 4x hole locations that will be drilled in
the spare tire well, closest to the rear bumper.
Once marked, use a 1/8" drill bit to drill the
holes.
(See Fig. 2-a)
B. There is an existing ground strap located near
the passenger side license plate light wiring
harness. Attach the FPB ground strap to the
same location & secure using the existing
10mm-headed screw.
(See Fig. 2-b)
C. The brown wire on this FPB will not be used.
Tape the open end of the wire shut, then tape it
to the black ground wire.

NOTE: Prior to drilling the 4x holes for the
FBP, place the spare tire back in the
vehicle & verify that the FPB will
clear the spare tire once installed.
Once verified, proceed to drill the 4x
1/8" holes.

D. Locate the provided fuel pump booster adapter
harness & install it in-line between the OEM
fuel pump driver module & main vehicle har-
ness. Connect the fuel pump booster to the
fuel pump booster adapter harness.

D. If your vehicle is equipped with a spare tire,
route the fuel pump booster harness above the
spare tire, along the body of the vehicle where
the trunk scuff panel would normally be. There
are 2x ground straps located here. Use 2x zip
ties to secure the harness to these 2x ground
straps, the proceed to re-install the trunk scuff
panel. Proceed to re-install all panels at this
time, then re-connect the battery.

NOTE: Routing the fuel pump booster har-
ness below the spare tire, or
between the spare tire & the spare
tire well, may cause damage to the
connector if the spare tire is not

3. FINAL CHECK
A. Confirm that all connections are properly insu-
lated and secure from creating any shorts.
Make sure all wires are properly secure with
clamps or tie-wraps.
B. Make sure all wires are routed away from hot,
moving or sharp objects.
C. Use a wide band O2 sensor to verify a proper
air/fuel ratio (Vortech suggests 11.0:1 for 91
octane pump fuel.) Check ignition timing to
make sure it is properly set before commencing
test drive.
D. Keep in mind that this manual does not
address air/fuel or ignition timing consider-
ations.
E. Test drive the vehicle.
F. Always listen carefully for engine detonation.
Discontinue heavy throttle usage if detonation
is heard.
WARNING: Do not attempt to operate the
vehicle until all components are
installed and all operations are
completed including the final
check.
