28mm Gettysburg Cemetery Gates
B28-ACW-001
Please read these instructions fully before starting construction.
PVA or equivalent glue will be required to stick sections together.
Sand paper can be used to gently clean any joints.
A sharp modelling knife will be required to remove sections from the sprue. Please use knives with due
care and remember to cut away from yourself at all times.
During the construction of this model, you may find it convenient to use pegs / elastic bands to hold
pieces in place while you allow glue to dry.
Base Section
Start by removing pieces 1 to 5 (shown above)
from the sprue.
Starting with the doorway, glue the wall to the base
using the holes/lugs provided. Attach the front wall
(with the window) and the rear wall. Note the solid
side wall has a flat edge which fits flush against the
back wall leaving lugs overhanging on the right (see
above).
Next remove pieces 6 to 9 from the sprue
Glue the U-shaped side piece into place, followed by
the front section.
Then attach the side piece…
..and finally the strip at the back.
Remove pieces 10 to 14.
Glue the wall secton to the back of the doorway,
ensuring the holes for the door line up. Sit the
rectangular piece on top of the door so the lug sits in
the hole and gentel put the lug at the bottom of the
door into the circular hole in the floor.
Using gentle pressure, push the door lintel so it is
flush with the wall. You may find it easier to push
where the hole is to prevent damage. If it does
snap it’s not a problem. Simply glue both sections
into place.
Glue the door two frames inside and out. Note the
outside doorframe has a corner of thre frame filled in.
(see above). This is to prevent the door swinging
outwards.
Repeat this with pieces 15 to 28 to create the
opposite base section.
Archway Section
Remove pieces 29 to 37 from the sprues.
Glue the two thin walls (32 and 33) to the front of the
arch (piece 30) as shown above. Glue the over-arch
pieces (34, 35 and 36) together and glue into place so
that they touch the tops of the thin walls.
Now glue the back of the arch (29) into position.
Turn the archway over and glue the raised archway
(31) and strip (37) into place.
Now take pieces 38 to 42 from the sprue.
Glue the floor (38) to the back of the arch (as shown).
Note the bite out of the floor is on the outside edge of
the archway.
Glue the arch and floor to the appropriate base
section using the holes / lugs provided (as shown
above)
Glue the steps (40 / 41) to the short support (39)
And then to the longer support (42)
Glue this assembly into position (as shown).
Glue the other base to the archway and repeat
the above procedure to build the steps for that
side using pieces 43 to 47.
The decoration on the top of the archway is formed
from pieces 48 to 61.
Attach the two long flat pieces (48 / 49) to the
top of the archway.
Glue the decorative piece (56) to the vertical section
(50) as shown above. Repeat this for the other
decorative piece and vertical section (57 / 51)
Place the lug on the thin end of the decorative
piece into the hole provided and gently ease the
vertical piece into position (see above)
Add the top (52) and plinth (61)
Glue the front and back pieces (54/55) to the
Urn (53)
Glue the urn into place and attach the three wreaths
(58-60) to the front of the arch as shown.
Middle Section
Remove pieces 62 to 66 from the sprue.
Attach the floor (62) to wall section 63. Ensure the
floor is the right way round (see above).
Attach the remaining three walls. Note wall piece
66 has a flat end, so should leave the lugs of the
back wall sticking out (see above).
Remove pieces 67 to 71 from the sprue. Starting with
piece 67, glue this to the side wall as shown, then
attach the front piece (68) and windows surround (69).
Then piece piece 70 and window surround 71 as
shown.
Turn the assembly upside down and attach the four
lugs (72-75), pushing them into the holes at the edge
of the floor. The line on the lugs should be flush with
the wall (as shown). Leave to dry.
Repeat the above steps with pieces 76 to 89 to create the middle section for the opposite side.
Roof Section
Remove pieces 90 to 97 from the sprue.
Turn the roof base (90) over so the engraved lines are
underneath it. Starting with the long piece with a
blank end (91) fasten this on the roof base so the
blank section is by the notch (see above), Attach
pieces 93 (with the holes in), 94 and 95. Note 93 will
overhang piece 95.
Stick the long piece (92) to the outside of 95, 96
to 94 and the short piece (97) to the blank
section near the notch. (see above)
Turn the assembly over and attach pieces 98 to 101 as
shown..
Take pieces 102 and 103 from the sprue.
Stick them together to form a cross as shown.
Attach roof piece 104 as shown.
Then the other three pieces (105 to 107)
Push the attemble so it fits into the holes in the
roof base (as shown).
Turn the roof over and attach the four lugs (108-111)
and the roof supports (112) which go all round the
roof using the holes provided.
Repeat this with parts 113 to 134 (with more roof supports (112)) to create the opposite side of the roof.
