improved with additonal features
LS4600 was produced out of extensive research and development effort in which every aspect of line surveillance requirements are studied. It solves the problem faced
by many installers using the conventional line monitoring method, by adopting impedance measurement methodology. This shall eliminate the needs to add coupling
capacitors to every speakers, rigid cabling rules as well as inaccuracy in detection. Thereby, LS4600 allows branching in cabling works, direct tapping of line to speakers
as well as easier setup, without having to trim impedance against a preset reference.
LS4600 is built and run by a micro-controller, thus providing a digital platform in setting up your system. User can set various parameters by following the menu
displayed in the LCD screen. Among them shall be the high and low limits, buzzer on / off, display backlight, monitoring setup time, auto or manual mode as well as
doing manual testing.
It shall not be difficult to understand or to install the unit, but it is recommended that a trained personnel is engaged in order to tap the many features available. Before
installation, we suggest a thorough read through of the manual is done to avoid any unnecessary damage to your setup.
Please keep this manual handy for any future references.
Thank you for trusting another quality product from Amperes.

The arrays of green LEDs provides the status of the channel which show the normal condition if lit. If both green and red LEDs do not lit for the particular
channel, it means that the channel has been bypassed from monitoring.
6. GREEN NORMAL LEDs
Once lit, it indicates that the particular channel is at fault ; either open, short or leakage. Refer to the LCD panel for exact condition of fault.
7. RED FAULT LEDs
The unit requires 24V DC power supply and recommended PSU shall be Amperes PS9400. Only use regulated power supply if other than PS9400 is installed.
PAGE 4

9. 24V DC POWER SUPPLY PORT
If fault is detected, a buzzing sound shall be emitted with the LED lit. Buzzer alert can be turned off via programming and this is indicated by this LED.
8. BUZZER LED
When line monitoring is initiated either manually or auto, it shall start in sequence from ch.1 to 6. With each channel under monitoring, a dry contact shall be
available at its correspondence zone. This shall provide 24V overriding voltage to volume controllers or local patch panel with overriding relay, thus allowing
direct measurement to the speakers. (Refer to Connecting the unit section of the manual). Overriding is required for accurate sensing in which volume
controllers set in various position shall have different impedances and such circumstances shall provide false alarm or alert.
Recommended practice is that every zone shall have its own 24V overriding circuit back to the rack. If all the overriding circuits are looped, and if the particular
zone with volume controller is set to off, the monitoring activity shall cause a burst of audio signal (such as BGM), which lasted for approximately 18 seconds.
This shall happen only when a BGM source is presence. If the particular zone is set to OFF (without BGM), the monitoring activity shall not emit audible sound.
10. ZONE TRIGGER OUTPUT PORT
It is for connections of incoming 100V line signal and output to speakers. Refer to Connecting the Unit in following section.
11. AMP/ZONE IN - OUT PORTS
Whenever a fault condition is detected, this port shall provide a dry contact to link to external alerting devices, such as mimic panel, etc.
12. OUTPUT FAULT CONTACT
Event triggered data shall be transmitted with RS485 protocol. This feature is optional and shall be available in future.

It is recommended that separate zone shall have
separate overriding circuit. Otherwise, loop all outputs.
Disadvantage of looping all outputs :
If a particular zone is active (zone on) but the volume
controller at a certain area is shut off (eg. zone 1),
activation of monitoring from LS4600 of zone 2 shall
override the volume controllers at zone 1, thus a burst
of audio shall be heard ( such as BGM being currently
played).

The LS4600 detects circuit faults using impedance measurement method. In general, there is no limitation on how the external cabling to speakers or volume controller
are run, ie. branching is allow and does not need end line resistors as well as speaker capacitor couplings.
LS4600 have been improve all accuracy. It is recommended that periodical manual checking or setup to be made as connections may deteriorate over time and thus
affecting overall impedance value.
Only 4 wire system is suitable for measurement. 3 wire system may cause undesirable result each time checking is being made due to the presence of volume
controllers.

Each unit has 6 channels of line monitoring. For larger quantity of
channels, use more than one unit. Detection is via impedance
measurement method, thus allowing speaker circuit branching and no
capacitor coupling.
LCD DISPLAY FOR EASE OF SETUP AND DETECTION
Setup is simple by following the menu displayed on the LCD display
panel. Channel condition for normal and fault shall be indicated by LEDs
and buzzer.
SETTING PROFILE
User shall have the choice of auto or manual detection, monitoring
intervals, sensitivity of high and low limits, buzzer activation, LCD panel
back light , etc.
AUX 24V DC
24V overriding DC can be channeled to the specific speaker line to
bypass volume controllers or patch panel, thus providing a more
accurate detection.
