G1E - General Description
1
General Description - Introduction
The General Description section contains an easy to understand overview of the HYBREX
®
G1E and G1E+
ISDN/VOIP Digital Telephone System. It is the intent of this document to provide technical readers with
information pertaining to the system building blocks, capabilities, key highlights, electrical, physical and
environmental characteristics of the HYBREX G1E/G1E+ ISDN/VOIP Digital Telephone System.
Single Cabinet system
The G1E/G1E+ systems are provided as a 4 line, 8 digital 4 analogue extension system using a traditional
Hybrex programming interface. It is upgradeable within a single cabinet to a total of 28 extensions, either 24
digital and 4 analogue or 8 digital and 20 analogue extensions. There are 2 trunk positions available and these
can be either PSTN, Basic rate ISDN or VOIP in any combination. The maximum number of trunks per cabinet
utilising PSTN is 8 or ISDN 12. Currently VOIP is 6 trunks until the release of the ITU card in 2009.
Multi Cabinet System.
The G1E+ system has the ability to be fitted with an MPU4 card to the MBU. The MPU4 card will allow the
cabinet to be a master to between 1 and 4 cabinets and the operating system to be converted to the GDS
software with all GDS feature sets available.
Expansion Cabinets
Expansion cabinets for the G1E+ system are a standard G1E+ main equipment with the MXU4 card fitted
allowing the cabinet to connect to the MPU4 of the master cabinet. Each additional cabinet adds the full extra
capacity of the cabinet.
Single cabinet with MPU4
A single cabinet system with an MPU4 will have all the programming and features of a GDS system. This will
allow small customers to still have advanced features and operating convenience without the cost of a GDS
system.
Card Compatibility G1E and G1E+
The following cards are compatible between the G1E and the G1E+ without any modification.
G1E-STU, G1E-SLU. G1E-TKU, G1E-SIU, G1E-VSC.
The G1E-MSU is only for the G1E system. All features of G1E MSU are installed as standard on the G1E+ MBU.
The G1E-VIU is only compatible with a G1E+ by either installing only the small ribbon cable from CN1 to the
MBU or if installing the large ribbon cable it will need to be modified as per the install manual.
The G1E-ITU, G1E-ISU and G1E-VSC2 are only able to be installed in the G1E+. These card are scheduled to
be available by mid 2009.
The Main cabinet, Power supply, RGU and battery backup are common to both systems.

Compatibility of the Telephone Network and Terminal Equipment.
(a) Availability of telephone interface information.
Technical information concerning interface parameters and specifications not specified in FCC
Rules, including the number of Ringers which may be connected to a particular line, which is
needed to permit Terminal Equipment to operate in a manner compatible with Telephone
Company communications facilities, shall be provided by the Telephone Company upon
customer's request.
(b) Changes in Telephone Company Communications Facilities, Equipment, Operations and
Procedures.
The Telephone Company may make changes in its communications facilities, equipment, operations or
procedures where such action is reasonably required in the operation of its business and is not inconsistent with
the rules and regulations in FCC Part 68 of the FCC Rules and Regulations. If such changes can be reasonably
expected to render any customer Terminal Equipment incompatible with Telephone Company Communications
Facilities, or require modification or alteration of such Terminal Equipment, or otherwise materially affect its use
or performance, the customer shall be given adequate notice in writing to allow the customer an opportunity to
maintain uninterrupted service.
Radio Frequency Interference
This equipment generates and uses radio frequency energy and if not installed and used properly and in strict
accordance with the manufacturer's instructions, may cause interference to radio and television reception. It has
been type-tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class A computing device in accordance with the
specification in Subpart J of Part 15 of FCC Rules, which are designed to provide reasonable protection against
such interference in a residential installation. However, this is no guarantee that interference will not occur in a
particular installation. If this equipment does cause interference to radio or television reception, which can be
determined by turning the equipment off and on, the user is encouraged to try to correct the interference by one
or more of the following measures:
Re-orient the receiving antenna.
Relocate the equipment with respect to the receiver.
Move the equipment away from the receiver.
Plug the equipment into a different outlet so that equipment and receiver are on different branch
circuits.
CTR 21 (98/482/EC) Declaration Network Compatibility
CTR 21 (98/482/EC) Declaration Network Compatibility,The equipment has been approved in accordance with
Council Decision 98/482/EC for pan-European single terminal connection to the public switched telephone
network (PSTN). However, due to differences between the individual PSTN networks provided in different
countries, the approval does not, of itself, give an unconditional assurance of successful operation on every
PSTN network termination point. In the event of problem, you should contact your equipment supplier in the first
instance.
ISDN Installation
For the ISDN unit (G1E-SIU), the G1E+ only offers ISDN S/T interface connection behind an NT1 device. It
should not be connected to a “U” interface directly.
G1E - General Description
3
Description – G1E
The G1E is an advanced ISDN Digital hybrid telephone system employing a microprocessor stored program and
digitally controlled solid state Time-division switching. The G1E system is specifically designed for small
business as well as residential applications. At the forefront of the system design is a universal concept to
adapting and connecting with a variety of communications devices. Productive HYBREX Digital Key Telephones
offer thoughtfully designed productive feature access to keep you connected with one another and customers.
Auto Telecom technology leads the industry in providing for compatibility with devices such as fax machines,
answering machines, cordless phones, computer modems and other office/home equipment.
Key highlights of the G1E series include:
Economy and Efficiency
The base system is equipped to support four (4) CO lines or three ISDN BRI’s, eight (8) digital stations and 4
analogue stations.. The system may be expanded to a maximum of eight (8) CO lines / six (6) ISDN BRI’s or 6
VOIP connections. Station cards may be selected to allow practically any combination ranging from all HYBREX
DK Digital Sets to 8 Digital sets plus 20 industry standard Single Line Telephone sets, with multiple combinations
of the two types. In addition to being cost effective at the initial phase and for expanding to it's maximum
capacity, the G1E system also is economical to operate as it consumes about the same amount of electricity as
a 60 watt light bulb at full configuration. A maximum of 8 CO lines (or 6 ISDN BRI’s) and 28 Extensions can be
accommodated. This allows a wide variety of applications for the system to work effectively.
