1Terms

This documentation applies to the WAGO Telecontrol Configurator.

Note

Observe the product documentation!

The software must only be installed and operated according to the instructions of the

complete Instructions for use. Knowledge of the complete Instructions for use is required

for proper use.

1. Carefully read the Product Manual.

2. Follow the steps in the installation wizard.

1.1 Intended Use

The WAGO Telecontrol Configurator is a configuration program that can be used to moni-

tor and control machines, systems and power supply networks using telecontrol technol-

ogy. It is available either as stand-alone software or as a configurator integrated in the e!

COCKPIT development environment. The intended use is as follows:

stand-alone software:

• Transmission of process data from the field to a higher control level or transmission of

commands for control/setpoint specification from the control to the field level (use as a

telecontrol substation).

• Protocol implementation between different telecontrol devices and/or data concentra-

tors to combine process values from different devices (use as a gateway).

e!COCKPIT solution:

• Configuration of communication connections for the DNP3, IEC60870 and IEC61850

telecontrol protocols.

• Linking the data points/objects of these protocols with any PLC variables or process

values of the same data format.

Improper Use

Improper use of the products is not permitted. Specifically, improper use occurs in the fol-

lowing cases:

• Non-observance of the intended use.

• Use of the products in areas with special risk that require flawless continuous operation

and in which failure or operation of the software can result in an imminent risk to life,

limb or health or cause serious damage to property or the environment (such as the

operation of nuclear power plants, weapon systems , aircraft and motor vehicles).

Warranty and Liability

The terms set forth in the General Business & Contract Conditions for Delivery and Ser-

vice of WAGO Kontakttechnik GmbH & Co. KG and the terms for software products and

products with integrated software stated in the WAGO Software License Contract – both

available at üwww.wago.com – shall apply. In particular, the warranty is void if:

• The products are used improperly.

• The deficiency (hardware and software configurations) is due to special instructions.

• The hardware or software has been modified by the user or a third party.

Individual agreements always have priority.

Obligations of Installers/Operators

The Installer/operator bear responsibility for the safety of an installation or a system as-

sembled with the products. The Installer/operator is responsible for proper installation and

security of the system. All laws, standards, guidelines, local regulations and accepted

technology standards and practices applicable at the time of installation and the instruc-

tions in the products’ Instructions for use must be complied with.

Licenses

The software and related components are protected by license mechanisms. A license

key is required for productive use of the software without time restriction. The software

can also be used fully without a license key for 30 days. This trial period only includes the

days of actual use. Access without a license key is no longer possible after the trial pe-

riod. Depending on the type of software license, an Internet connection may be required

to activate the license. Please refer to your license certificate for the corresponding infor-

mation.

One or more licenses may be needed, depending on the required functional scope (see

Section “8Hardware and Software Requirements with Testing Software [}12]”.

2.1 General Safety Regulations

• This documentation is part of the product. Therefore, retain the documentation during

the entire service life of the product. Pass on the documentation to any subsequent

user of the product. In addition, ensure that any supplement to this documentation is

included, if necessary.

• Any actions related to the use of WAGO software may only be performed by qualified

staff with sufficient knowledge to use the respective PC system.

Steps in which files are created or changed on a PC system may only be performed by

qualified employees with sufficient knowledge in the administration of the PC system

used in addition to file creation or modification.

Steps that change the PC system’s behavior within a network may only be performed

by qualified employees with sufficient knowledge of administration of the responsible

network.

• Comply with the laws, standards, guidelines, local regulations and accepted technol-

ogy standards and practices applicable at the time of installation.

2.2 Indirect Safety

• If automation solutions are implemented that can cause personal injury or major prop-

erty damage in the event of failure, you must take appropriate measures to ensure that

the system remains in a safe operating state even in the event of failure.

• Give all products in a network different IP addresses.

• Operate ETHERNET and PROFINET interfaces in separate networks.

• Never connect a PC on which a DHCP server is installed to a global network. In larger

networks, there is usually already a DHCP server that can cause collisions and subse-

quent network failure.

• Use only the latest security software.

• If there are access problems, check whether the e!RUNTIME runtime system is acti-

vated on the connected devices. Use a software tool (depending on the hardware) to

perform the check or use the Web-Based Management System.

ASDU Application Service Data Unit Summary of the application services of a data unit.

Also specifically designates the common address for

identification of all information objects of a specific

substation.

CA Certificate Authority Certificate authorities issue digital certificates for se-

cure Internet connections. Digital certificates are data

sets that contain verifiable proof of identify for persons

or objects.

CRC Cyclic Redundancy Check Procedure for checking the consistency of data.

CSV Comma-separated Values Text file format for saving measured values and pa-

rameters.

DNP3 The Third Generation of Distrib-

uted Network Protocol

Communications protocol for telecontrol applications.

FC Function Code The function code determines the function of a DNP3

telegram; e.g., reading and writing data or executing

commands.

FT# Frame Type # Frame format for data telegrams.

FWU Telecontrol substation/ server/

slave

Station for data acquisition and data processing in the

immediate vicinity of the process. This station is nor-

mally connected to the control center by a telecommu-

nications network and provides its data in the form of

information objects. If a change occurs, it also reports

the data independently.

FWZ Telecontrol station/client/ master Central station that belongs to the remote process con-

trol and that monitors the substations.

IEC 60870 is an international standard that defines a

general open communications standard for industrial

infrastructure automation.

IED Intelligent Electronic Device An IED is an intelligent field device based on DNP3.

IIN Internal Indications Internal field consisting of bits with status information

within a DNP3 user data telegram.

IP Internet Protocol Non-connection-based network protocol at the network

MAC Message Authentication Code A message authentication code is a data protection

code. It can be used to track the origin of data or mes-

sages. The integrity of the data and messages can

also be verified.

NAT Network Address Translation Package translation in IP networks between public and

private IP address ranges.

RTU Remote Terminal Unit Designation for a telecontrol substation.

SCADA Supervisory Control and Data

Acquisition

Monitoring and control of technical procedures and

processes using a computer system.

3.2 Task

This manual describes how to create and commission a slave or master according to IEC

60870 with a WAGO controller.

The configuration program used is the WAGO Telecontrol Configurator. It is available ei-

ther as stand-alone software or as a configurator integrated into the e!COCKPIT develop-

ment environment.

Commissioning and configuration are almost identical with both configurators. In this

manual, the differences in handling in the subchapters are indicated by the note "Stand-

alone" or "e!COCKPIT".

To check the functionality, a connection between the controller and the PC can be estab-

lished after the configuration.

You will find the descriptions of exemplary projects following the description of the IEC

60870 protocol.

The data sheet for the hardware you have selected contains guidelines on how many in-

formation objects can be used.

You can use the following software:

• e!COCKPIT engineering software, version 1.8.0 or higher, or

• “WAGO Telecontrol Configurator” software, version 1.2.13.0 or higher

• Protocol simulator/test program per DNP3 for the telecontrol station, e.g. the “Axon

Test 4.0” software

• Protocol simulator/test program per IEC 60870 for the telecontrol station, e.g. the demo

version of the “WinPP101,” “WinPP103” or “WinPP104” software

4.1 Installing the Telecontrol Software

1. Launch the WAGO Telecontrol Configurator (stand-alone).

2. Click the [Commissioning and Update] button in the “Start” tab to install a Telecontrol

Software on the device for the first time.

ð A dialog opens to enter the user name and password.

Note Commissioning/update/upload using the “root” user only!

Commissioning/update/upload are only possible using the Linux® “root” user. You can find

the default password in the “Default Linux® password”!

3. Click the [Continue] button after entering the password.

ð If a runtime environment other than e!RUNTIME installed, you first have to switch.

In this case, the following dialog opens:

4. Click the [Change Runtime] button.

5. The Web-Based Management (WBM) opens with the menu PLC Runtime > Gen-

eral Configuration.

6. Activate the “e!RUNTIME” checkbox in the “General PLC Runtime Configuration”

area.

7. Click the[Submit] button and exit the WBM.

8. Click the [Continue]in the “Wizard for Commissioning and Update” dialog.

ð If a connection is established, the following dialog opens:

10. Click the [Install] button.

ð The Telecontrol Software is installed. If the installation is successful, the following

dialog opens:

11. Click the [Exit] button.

12. Make sure that the mode selector switch is in the “RUN” position.

ð The device is restarted after completing the installation and is ready for configura-

tion when the “RUN LED” is green.

4.2 Updating the Installed Telecontrol Software

1. Launch the WAGO Telecontrol Configurator.

2. Click the [Commissioning and update] button in the “Start” tab to update an exist-

ing Telecontrol Software.

ð A dialog opens to enter the user and password.

Note Commissioning/update/upload using the “root” user only!

Commissioning/update/upload are only possible using the Linux® “root” user. You can find

the default password in the “Default Linux® password”!

3. After ending the password, click the [Continue] button.

ð If a connection is established, the following dialog opens:

ð If the configurator has determined that an update is available, the following dialog

ð The Telecontrol Software is updated. If the update is successful, the following dia-

4.3 Reading the Local Bus I/O Image

1. Click the [Scan modules] button in the “Start” tab to read the local bus I/O image.

ð A dialog opens to enter the user and password.

Note Commissioning/update/upload using the “root” user only!

Commissioning/update/upload are only possible using the Linux® “root” user. You can find

the default password in the “Default Linux® password”!

2. Click the [Select] button.

ð If the read operation is completed, the local bus configuration is displayed in the

“Localbus I/O Mapping” area.

4.4 Transferring Licenses (Stand-Alone)

Observe the documentation for the WAGOupload tool

To load the purchased licenses, you need WAGOupload Version 1.11.0.0 or higher for

the stand-alone version of the telecontrol configurator. Detailed information on using

WAGOupload can be found in the software manual, which can be downloaded together

with the software from the WAGO website.

When purchasing the software via WAGO Kontakttechnik GmbH & Co. KG, the license

key will be sent to you by email or phone.

1. Launch the WAGOupload software (the software will not be installed).

2. Click the “Manage Licenses” link on the start screen to register the licenses.

3. After registration, then click the Synchronize Licenses menu item to define the de-

vices to which the licenses are to be transferred.
