1. Introduction
According to Directive 2014/34/EU (ATEX 95) Appendix I, the
pH sensors type InPro
®
2XXX, InPro 3XXX and InPro 4XXX are
devices of equipment group II; category 1/2G which, according
to Directive 99/92/EC (ATEX 137) can be used in zones 0/1
or 1/2 or 1 or 2 as well as gas groups IIA, IIB and IIC which
are potentially explosive due to combustible substances in
temperature classes T3 to T6.
The requirements specied in EN 60079-14 must be observed
during use / installation.
For the analog version of the pH electrode, the pH measurement
circuit, temperature measurement circuit and data chip circuit
are part of a common intrinsically safe system and are jointly
connected to and operated by a separately certied transmitter.
The digital version of the pH sensor is connected to and
operated by a two-wire cable to the certied transmitter.
The intrinsically safe circuits are galvanically isolated from the
non-intrinsically safe circuits up to a norminal voltage peak
value of 375V and from the earthed parts up to a norminal
voltage peak value of 30V .

3.2 The pH sensor types InPro 327X, InPro 427X, and
InPro487X are constructed from plastic. To prevent the
risk of electrostatic sparking, the plastic surface should
only be cleaned with a damp cloth.
3.3 The enclosures of pH sensor types InPro 328X, InPro428X,
and InPro 488X containing titanium constitute a potential
risk of ignition by impact or friction. Care must be taken
into account during installation and use to prevent impact
or friction.
3.4 For safe working and to prevent explosion, the minimum
conductivity of media must be higher than 1 nS / cm when
the pH sensor types of InPro 327X , InPro 427X, and
InPro487X are used.
3.5 The capacitance and inductance of the connecting cable
has to be considered.
3.6 The pH sensors types InPro 2XXX, InPro 3XXX, and
InPro4XXX can be used in / with the ttings InFit
®
76X-XXX
or InTrac
®
7XX-XXX, or in / with other suitable ttings in
potentially explosive areas.
The metal body of the pH sensors, or the tting
InFit 76X-XXX or InTrac 7XX-XXX, or other appropriate
tting is optionally included in the routine pressure test of
the system.
3.7 The independent tting used for installation of pH
electrodes must be cunductively connected to the
equipotential bonding system.
